i wonder what it was "meant" be to as people have already cleared normal/heroic zul and didnt get it, and the only way they had got it was through a "bug"

Would be nice if they added a new spirit beast or two in Bfa..but oh well.

That can’t be the case, because they sent out the tweet hint about how to get it way after it would’ve been obvious that it wasn’t working.

Something in the fight probably set off some flag that caused you to be ineligible. Hearthing out mustve have either reset that flag or caused it not to trigger. Ideally Blizz wouldve have set it so that hearthing also made you ineligible and you would have to be present for the kill in order to obtain the tome.

Last time i believed blizzard i waited three months thinking the arms war hidden artifact skin was ingame.. imagine my surprise when it "technically" was in game but needed a "hotfix" to allow people to get it.

According to the wow dev twitter it was supposed to drop from only Heroic Zul if you beat him with only hunters in the raid. A.K.A might as well have not been put in at all.

I wonder if it counts the hunters at the beginning of the fight or once he dies? Might've been able to have everyone but the hunters hearth at a few percent left?

I want to know the story behind the guy that tried hearthing mid-fight and if it was intentional or not. Probably intentional since he was going for the hidden flag angle, but reminded me of this

yer i gotta be honest i cannot have imagined a worse way to implement it then an all hunter heroic zul kill, no way that would be toxic

Yup that's basically saying it was intended nobody get this until the expansion was done and people went back after it next expansion when they overgeared it aka stupid.

I'm not very keen on this stuff being current tier raid stuff, quest line or something would've been so much cooler.

While I agree we could use more spirit beast, I do not think this is the expansion for it. With all of the other new hunter pets added it may be a bit overboard, especially since spirit beast are now all tanks they have lost a little of the excitement.

All their thought process went to the hivemind mount and nothing really special was added for hunters taming blood beasts.

No idea why were they trying to make it some super convoluted secret. So far tomes for extra families weren't super convoluted to get:
- mechanicals - crafted by engineers
- featherbeasts - buy from the order hall after doing class mount quest and filling your artifact (that part is probably removed now that artifact is burnt)
- dinos - farm elites on Oondasta's island (I think it was soloable even when current)

Getting 1 pet could be hidden behind challenge or secret, but a whole family?

And tbh not everyone is a raider, so a solo challenge (like Fenryr tame) is more fair to everyone than requiring a full raid.
