Ahead of the Curve and Cutting Edge Remain Until Rise of Azshara Raid Released
The Ahead of the Curve and Cutting Edge achievements will remain available until the opening of the main raid in the Rise of Azshara content update.

Patch 8.1.5 PTR - Island Expedition BoA Gear Tokens
The Seafarer's Dubloon vendors now sell several bind on account gear tokens for 20 x Seafarer's Dubloons each. These can be used or mailed to alts that are Level 111+.

These work much like the gear tokens from Tanaan Jungle and Argus, providing a piece of gear appropriate for the level of the character that utilizes it. The item level starts at 214 for level 111's and increases up to 282 for a level 120. The tokens can proc higher item levels, much like previous iterations.

So what we got instead of broken shore, argus or tanaan jungle was......island expeditions

BFA sure is keeping up with the theme of being Legion 0.5 so far.

It's like not like they can completely scrap IE's mid expac sadly. T.T
SO we are stuck with IE's until the end of this expac. I don't mind them honestly, they are great for lvlin new Bfa toons.

282 is too low. Better off buying the buff items with dubloons to mail to your alts so they can do islands faster.

June or July probably. Raid to follow at least a couple weeks after that.

Broken Shore and Tanaan came in the x.2 patches. Argus came in the x.3 patch.

It's only 8.1.5, with Nazjatar coming in 8.2. A zone similar to the size of Argus, by the way.

Quit grasping at straws and complaining at the wrong shit. You look ridiculous.

I was thinking the same thing. 282 ilvl gear? That's barely higher than the gear that you finish questing in...Its got to be a typo, maybe 382 ilvl? But then you're barely below normal raid ilvl so I really don't know...

Never. The patch tomorrow is going to be such a shit show of a disappointment that Activision will burn down the Blizzard servers. With their cash cow slain they will allow themselves to be bought out by EA. The executives will be given generous severance packages while all non executive employees will be executed in the streets. Their organs harvested and transplanted into the elites of EA, to ensure their continued survival as they seek to become the only game publisher in the world. LONG LIVE EA AND MOBILE GAMING! So..... there already exist lvl120 heirlooms at this point. And now they add basically green questing gear for 20 dubloons each? Who can benefit from this? I am quite confident that a mainchar that holds hundreds of dubloons may also afford heirlooms. This is totally retarded ....

Imo a solution could be to make those items work as catchup gear. It would would be great if a char leveled through IE could afford a set of this gear when reaching lvl120. They could make it ilvl340 so you may continue to gear up towards the current content through WQs, Heroics, Mythics .....

What is the point of those BoA's. At 111 the crafted greens have a higher ilvl(225 and 233 for blues), and at 120 you can make crafted 340's? And normals give 340 loot.
And comparing them to argus/tanaan? Those items where a catch up for alts/people who where behind in gear and where for max level anyway.
Who is going to waste dubloons on these when the grind to the albatross is so long and there is plenty of other stuff to blow them on.

Could you at least use the correct date for the patch? It's due next week..

On topic, no idea what Blizzard thought with this iL 282 BoA gear. It's completely useless.

why not just have made these heirlooms...

Island Expeditions would be so much if you would get gear, materials and gold out of it. They should also buff dubloon drops, they feel super rare atm

See that is how bad it will be. They have already delayed it by a week. Also I may be drunk.

I was excited for the island tokens until I realised

    1) they are relatively expensive

    2) they are relatively weak

    3) most importantly, they are apparently just quest reward stuff, not even models that come from the islands, so it's not even a way to target Island drops like I initially thought.

So, no need to buy them for me. Heirlooms will be fine.

It's way too expensive. On average you get 4 dubloons per expedition (with "class hall" trait to gain more). That means you have to do ~5 expeditions for a single item, not even talking about how people who are just getting their weekly done still need quite an amount to get the cosmetical items.

    282. Islands.
Stop trying to make it happen blizzard, you're out of touch...

whats the point of this island gear? 282 is useless for 120, it should be at least on par with WQ gear (350+).
and i dont care much about gear while leveling, since itll be replaced fast when dinging 120.
only people who i can imagine this gear could be of any use, is 111 twinks fishing for high ilvl procs, but thats a really niche part of the playerbase.
and 20 tokens for one piece? thatll take like 10 islands to get, without the mission table upgrades. itll take like 1 hour to get 1 282, sounds good makes sense HAHAHA! even if it was 350+, it would still be a waste of time.

    pointless addition to the game.
