Patch 8.2 PTR - Benthic Gear Preview
Patch 8.2 introduces Benthic gear, which is catch up gear similar to the unsullied and relinquished gear from Argus. However, there is a little more to it than that.

  • Nazjatar introduces a new currency called Prismatic Manapearl, which is obtained through many different methods while questing and exploring the zone.
  • Benthic gear can be purchased from a vendor in your faction's Nazjatar hub for 5 Prismatic Manapearl each.
    • Alliance - Artisan Itanu
    • Horde - Finder Palta

  • Benthic gear starts at item level 385.
  • Benthic gear can also be obtained from world quests and the Nazjatar emissary.

  • List of Benthic Gear:
  • There are no weapons, rings, or trinkets via Benthic gear. However, these items can be obtained through Mechagon content.
  • Benthic gear can be upgraded all the way to item level 425 via Voidbinder Zorlan (H) or Voidbinder Sturzah (A):

    • These NPCS operate much like the gear upgrade Ethereal from Pandaria. Instead of Justice points, however, you use Prismatic Manapearl.
    • The first time you upgrade a piece of Benthic gear it costs 20 Prismatic Manapearl and upgrades the item by 15 item levels, changing it to a Pearled Benthic piece of gear.
    • All further upgrades to Pearled Benthic gear cost the following:
      • Non Azerite Armor Pearled Benthic gear upgrades by 5 item levels up to 425, and costs 10 Prismatic Manapearl each upgrade.
      • Azerite Armor Pearled Benthic gear upgrades by 15 and costs 15 Prismatic Manapearl per upgrade.
  • Benthic gear have predetermined stats, meaning there is no RNG to which stats you will get on each slot.
  • Benthic gear also have useful special abilities on certain slots:
    • Cloaks
      • Trader's Stock - You have access to Murloc traders' special stocks.
      • Fishy Fiends - You have a chance to loot a random fish from creatures in Nazjatar and The Eternal Palace.
      • Frost Resistance - Frost damage taken is reduced by 2% while in Nazjatar and the Eternal Palace.

    • Feet

      • Elemental Instincts - You are more likely to find strange resources related to Mardivas.
      • Carnivore of the Deep - While in Nazjatar and the Eternal Palace, your critical strikes have a chance to heal you for 0 over 10 sec.
    • Legs
      • Seabed Runner - Your Speed is increased by 95 while in Nazjatar and the Eternal Palace.
      • Swimmer's Legs - You are 5% larger while in Nazjatar and The Eternal Palace.

Raid Testing Schedule - May 9th - 10th

Thursday, May 9th
Abyssal Commander Sivara - Heroic Eternal Palace
13:00 PDT (16:00 EDT, 22:00 CEST)

Lady Ashvane - Heroic Eternal Palace
14:00 PDT (17:00 EDT, 23:00 CEST)

Friday, May 10th
Orgozoa - Heroic Eternal Palace
13:00 PDT (16:00 EDT, 22:00 CEST)

Radiance of Azshara - Heroic Eternal Palace
14:00 PDT (17:00 EDT, 23:00 CEST)

As always, this testing schedule is very fluid and subject to the realities of a test environment. We might have to change the time of a testing session, change the bosses being tested, or cancel a test entirely, due to bugs, server hardware issues, etc. Keep an eye on this forum for the latest information, and thank you in advance for testing and providing feedback.

Q: How do I get into the raid zone?
A: In Zuldazar, Boralus, Dalaran, Orgrimmar, or Stormwind, you may speak to Nexus-Lord Donjon Rade III in order to teleport into the raid zone while it is open for testing. (The option to teleport into a zone will not be available when the zone is not open for testing.)

Q: What character should I use to test the raid?
A: Whichever you prefer. We will be scaling players’ effective level to 120 for raid testing, and their item level to an appropriate threshold for the encounter(s) being tested.

Q: How long does testing last?
A: The primary purpose of testing is to give us the information we need to balance the encounters, evaluate how mechanics are playing out in practice, and identify bugs. Once we’re satisfied that we’ve received that information for a given boss, we’ll be shutting down testing. Usually this takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, but there are no guarantees.

Blizzard finally started to listen.I wanted this since the end of Legion(GW2 is better than WoW in this aspect specifically).
Having a vendor sistem with upgreadble items in it is way better than a shity RNG war/titanforge.It's good to have a mix between dropping items from raids & M+ and buying things with currency.

Again with the re-use of previous systems. They're so inventive! One must think the money paid for the subscription goes to something new!

Whaaaah, Blizz sucks! They removed all those cool features from the previous expansions, the game now is hollow and shallow! WoW is dead!

Given the exclusive bonuses, top guild full mythic will have to farm new equipment before confronting raid bosses?
I mean, could they be mandatory in order to challenge specific raid encounters?

Benthic gear have predetermined stats, meaning there is no RNG to which stats you will get on each slot.

Congrats Blizz. Only took you what 5 years to realise that nobody liked the RNG stat casino?

I guess Manapearls will be meh to obtain in return for it but eh.

You know this is just a catch up system right? WF/TF score really well with the casuals and aren't going anywhere. I don't see anything that specifies that these items won't be able to WF/TF, just that what stats the items have is predetermined - Not the amount of stats / ilevel. Even if this gear can't forge because they want it to be a time sink the raid / dungeon / etc gear still will.

Where exactly did i say the WF&TF are being removed???I just said they are a shitty sistems nothing else. And how did you made the conclusion that adding vendors is me saying WF/TF will be removed?

My last sentence is even explayining how i like to have dropping items (aka WF/TF i did not think i have to spell it to any to understand) combined with buyable items is a great combination.

I didn't say you said any such thing. I was just letting you know that they're popular with the casuals and won't be going anywhere.

Yep, you have to keep in your mind: Companies are profit oriented they will always go with the least amount of money invested.

Shouldn't 430 be pretty much normal tier ilvl once the new raid gets released? Pretty overpowered and lame catch-up as always.
  1. zetitup's Avatar
And the question is, how long does it take to get each piece to 430...
I bet you have 430 ilvl before you get each piece from the vendor
