WoW Classic “Not A Bug” List

As we’ve discussed before, the nature of WoW Classic sometimes invokes different memories for different players, and this leads to certain misconceptions for some about what is or isn’t working as intended.

The following is a list of commonly-reported gameplay in WoW Classic that is not actually a bug, and is working as we expect it to:

  • Tauren’s hitboxes and their melee reach is slightly larger than other races.
  • Being critically struck while using /sit to sit does not cause abilities like Enrage, Blood Craze, and Reckoning to activate.
  • Using the “Automatic Quest Tracking” option does not auto-track newly accepted quests. (It instead will start to track an existing quest once progress towards an objective is started.)
  • Warrior health Regeneration is working at the expected rate.
  • Quests objectives and points of interests are not tracked on the map or minimap.
  • Completed quests are marked on the minimap with a dot. (and not a “?”)
  • Feared players and NPCs run fast.
  • Standing on top of other players while facing away allows spells and attacks to be used.
  • Creature respawn rates are much slower than in Battle for Azeroth.
  • NPCs which offer multiple quests may inconsistently display them as a dot or a “!” on the available quests list. They were inconsistent in 1.12, and we’ve reproduced the exact inconsistency they had back then.
  • Quests that are too low level for do not show up as a “!” in the game world.
  • Available quests do not display a “!” on the minimap.
  • On level up, the message: “Your skill in Protection increased to 15” was added in 1.12.1, and we’re intending to keep that.

We appreciate all of your feedback!

Sharding Bug in WoW Classic Beta

This is a known issue that we are actively investigating. Please continue to report these types of mob-behavior if they are happening in other locations. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

They just said it was a bug tho, it’s a beta, this is what we test in a beta
This is definitely why we do a beta test. We can also do things like reset the realm at a busy time like 4:30pm PDT to try and find the source of a certain issue where a crocolisk is losing it’s brain due to how multiple processes are interacting and mirroring code to form a cohesive world. There were similar types of issues like this back in 2004 but we wanted to try and resolve this one before the weekend for the folks who are testing. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

I was surprised about the /sit note. I have heard that is a lot of people's strategy to activate certain abilities forcefully. Was this an exploit that was common in Private Servers and people assumed it was something that was in original vanilla WoW?

This list made my day. And proves that alot of the pro-classic players didn’t actually know classic to begin with. You wanted wow 2004, here you have it.

I like how they just make quest markers inconsistent on purpose.

Regarding /sit crit proc bug, it's hilarious to see an MVP on the official Classic forums saying that instead of going for authentic experience Blizz should make it PS-like because that's the version people are used to playing.

Damn, that’s a pretty crushing blow for Prot Paladins who were using it to game massive heals and weapon procs.

Just kind of gets thrown out casually by Blizzard.
    Uh oh.

Obviously i would want blizzard to be true to their source but, i am getting more and more worried about imbalances that will likely arise from these small differences.

Lets hope its for the best, because a product like this really has a shelf life. If end game isn’t interesting or properly engaging, what will people be doing a year from now or more?

    That's getting ridiculous :V I wonder if he's a part of the #nochanges crowd as well :V

He became a laughingstock on reddit and official forums because of it. That's dude, Tipsout, is self-proclaimed #1 warrior in the world and vanilla veteran, although many people are saying that he in fact is a cata-kid

abilities like that could never be forced in the original game by sitting it was a wonky interaction on private servers as private servers where a good 75% guesswork along with some data mining of the original client the last 15% was taken from the few super potato quality videos that where made back then

That's because they the old version will be running on a new codebase. You will not be using the "original" client from 2005, it's some kind of reproduction if you pass me the term.

I've been playing a paladin during classic WoW times and I did abuse /sit command against rogues a lot (to stack reckoning). Either I have brain damage and can't recall correctly or Blizzard changed that just for the new release.

I'm happy to see them really committing to this. I didn't think I would be all that interested, but I will sure give it a go. Personally I wouldn't mind quality of life improvements and most of my friend don't really care for a 100% authentic vanilla experience but they want the old zones and world, a game world pre-Cataclysm but have no requirement for it being "authentic" to World of Warcraft Patch 1.12.2.

I'm not all that hardcore on "Classic", I want to relive the old zones and the old world and it seems like most people I'm taking to is feeling the same. We would prefer to have quality of life improvements regardless of them actually being in the game at in 1.12.2 or not. Like the "Automatic Quest Tracking" to actually track it properly without you having to actually trigger progress in the quest for it to show up would make perfect sense. It's no real need to make such a thing behave nonsensical just because it's "authentic".

Same goes for the Meeting/Summoning Stones, the automatic flight paths, additional mail boxes etc.. A lot of this got implemented in The Burning Crusade but all of this doesn't really hurt the "Classic experience" but are some really obvious quality of life improvements that improves the experience.

But I guess they are just saving themselves some complaints. For them to decide what is worthy quality of life improvements and what is not is next to impossible. People would complain regardless so having thing replicate 1.12.2 is much easier for them.

yeah i did a bit searching in my brain the sit did work in pvp scenarios i believe but im a good 95% sure it did not work in pve cause if it did im sure my memories of paladin leveling would not be as bad

While I see no issues with this, it does make me look askance as it really reads like their April Fools posts...

People have been doing research on it and it was a thing apparently prior to 1.12, but it was fixed with the version of the game that Blizz went with. But PS's never got that memo apparently.

Yeah, I brought it up on the paladin forums. Whenever I looked for Ret pvp talent builds I was always disappointed they always pointed at the "Reck Bomb" stuff. So this made me rather relieved.

Overall though I'm happy Blizzard made this post to show what things that are intended, and not bugs. Hopefully we'll see more of them because I didn't even think of some of these things - like the Tauren hitbox / weapon reach, it makes sense but I didn't really think about it!
