WoW Classic “Not A Bug” List

The following is a list of commonly-reported gameplay in WoW Classic that is not actually a bug, and is working as we expect it to:

  • Tauren’s hitboxes and their melee reach is slightly larger than other races.
  • Being critically struck while using /sit to sit does not cause abilities like Enrage, Blood Craze, and Reckoning to activate.
  • Using the “Automatic Quest Tracking” option does not auto-track newly accepted quests. (It instead will start to track an existing quest once progress towards an objective is started.)
  • Warrior health Regeneration is working at the expected rate.
  • Quests objectives and points of interests are not tracked on the map or minimap.
  • Completed quests are marked on the minimap with a dot. (and not a “?”)
  • Feared players and NPCs run fast.
  • Standing on top of other players while facing away allows spells and attacks to be used.
  • Creature respawn rates are much slower than in Battle for Azeroth.
  • NPCs which offer multiple quests may inconsistently display them as a dot or a “!” on the available quests list. They were inconsistent in 1.12, and we’ve reproduced the exact inconsistency they had back then.
  • Quests that are too low level for do not show up as a “!” in the game world.
  • Available quests do not display a “!” on the minimap.
  • On level up, the message: “Your skill in Protection increased to 15” was added in 1.12.1, and we’re intending to keep that.

We appreciate all of your feedback!

Sharding Bug in WoW Classic Beta

This is a known issue that we are actively investigating. Please continue to report these types of mob-behavior if they are happening in other locations. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

They just said it was a bug tho, it’s a beta, this is what we test in a beta
This is definitely why we do a beta test. We can also do things like reset the realm at a busy time like 4:30pm PDT to try and find the source of a certain issue where a crocolisk is losing it’s brain due to how multiple processes are interacting and mirroring code to form a cohesive world. There were similar types of issues like this back in 2004 but we wanted to try and resolve this one before the weekend for the folks who are testing. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

It did work for some time, but was fixed before 1.12

i find it HILARIOUS actually. my GF wants to play it, and she is less than patient... sh will hate the game soon enough. i would love to have bc thoufgh, so, i will support vanilla in hopes of a bc server or two. and even then, i KNOW that i will still prefer what i play now. be fun to work towards flying like in the old days though.. and ground mounts, that was almost traumatizing... especially for my warlock... ouch...

I suppose this might actually answer one thing I was wondering about, unless this list is just not full:

I was fairly certain that until the pre-TBC patch, you could not see Shaman gear on Alliance (and vice versa) drop unless they were BoE pieces. I just have some memory of that being the case and the first time I saw it drop as a chestpiece (dungeon set from UBRS) after the pre-patch launched.

...Never did get the full dreadmist set in time... ;_:

This was a great read. My wife and I had a great laugh. Where are my quest markers!? Must be a bug! *meanwhile in Classic people literally ran around for hours figuring out where to hand the quest*

Imagine that they don't learn that until they're past 40 (given how they might not even efford it then, or just don't try run through a door yet). And that there is no boosting so you have to level up first to find out. Which takes longer in classic. Gleeee.

Oh man am I fucking glad to see this. Just goes to prove that Classic Elitists were wrong and should have been told to shut up and sit down when they kept whining about #NoChanges

No. Which is precisely why you get infracted for it. Little children aren't really expected to be able to behave themselves yet. Adults are.

Most of these changes would change the game for the worse - especially quest markers on the minimap. Yeah, you had to read quest text sometimes.

The technical inconsistencies don't make much of a difference either way.

I mean I didn't even know it was a "bad word". I just thought it was an internet lingo for twitch chat type people. Like .. the standards for words you can't use anymore keeps changing.. I'm so confused.

They forgot to mention how all weapons belong to hunters on that list. Oh well.

My view is that the list serves a few purposes.
    • It's a useful list to get early beta players to stop reporting common misconceptions as bugs.
    • It serves notice that a lot of things are not going to be fixed.
    • It's a very gentle troll of people who have grown used to how things are on illegal servers.

None of those things are bad.

Anyone that is looking forward to Classic is fully aware of all that was, by your definition, wrong/broken/bugged.

They aren't improving Classic they are, in almost every instance, reproducing Classic (warts and all, lack of QoL improvements etc) and that's how it should be. And even with it's faults Classic will be a far better game than BFA.

Classic isn't for everyone and you obviously are not the target market. But instead of revelling in what you perceive to be justification of your viewpoint you should be happy that as of mid-August myself, and many others, will be renewing our subscriptions and in the process helping to support retail WoW. But for Classic Blizzard would never have gotten another dime out me after 3 consecutive disappointing expansions. The day they make changes to Classic to appease people like you is the day I stop playing altogether.

It is incredible that some people are demanding a "fixed Classic".

I don't think that's wrong of people to think at all. I can imagine a 'fixed' classic could be a lot of fun and certainly better than BFA.

That being said, it's already been stated that Blizzard is going to reproduce a 'true classic' (with very, very few minor changes) so asking for a fixed Classic isn't really going to happen at this stage.

For the most part, addons could have been quite advanced back in classic as well, but for some of those really advanced addons it took years for people to make them.

Anyway, Classic is based roughly on a 8.1 WoW client, and has similar addon support, with some changes to accomodate for changed game systems, and a few removals.
