DDoS attack affecting Blizzard servers

When's the last time you saw other sites DDOSed for *days*? Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, etc? Blizzard had $7.5b in revenue last year - they can invest some to work with their upstream providers so this doesn't take days to resolve. Or to work with better upstream providers.

I think the prevention for this comes in the form of blizzard's response. If you DDOS Blizz, you serve jail time.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey just had his Twitter account hacked using one of the most basic techniques - SIM swapping.

Money doesn't stop everything. These simple methods are tough to prevent.

Was great being stuck in limbo... taking flight and getting dismounted on the way in a zone and then you cant hearthstone or do anything for like 5min then get ported back to that spot ...

Going to be honest the best thing you can do is not make a scene over it.

Don't go to forums raging about it. Don't tweet out about it. Just silently do something else. Trust me the targets they will go after are those that provide the most rage because that generates a story and buzz which in turn attraches media outlets that further show the world what they can do. Free advertisement more or less combined with a bigger ego stroke.

They stop you from playing. Don't reward them.

I doubt it, since the DDOS would affect them as well since it is against the Battle.net Servers not specifically Classic.

If anything likely just randoms that have nothing to do with WoW doing it to troll People that they know are enjoying something. Like literally every other time Blizzard has been DDOS'd

Last I checked retail was unaffected by the DDOS attacks. They were targeting specific servers. Apparently the Classic RP server was never hit.

My Classic PVE server also had no effect, other than getting booted for a few minutes, along with all other servers. No lag or connection issues.

Nope, when this started we got kicked off retail for a good while on Saturday, at least on my server. I don't think they've been messing with retail since then but both classic and retail got hit.

Erm, I was playing retail on Saturday when the attack hit - I was booted and couldn't log on for hours. I did clean the house and get some painting and other chores done though.
