Raiding Expectations for the Holiday Season - Patch 8.3 and Ny'alotha Live Next Year

With the reveal at BlizzCon of the upcoming Shadowlands expansion, we’ve been getting a lot of questions regarding the schedule for the previously announced Visions of N’Zoth content update. To that end, we want to share that Visions of N’Zoth and the raid—Ny’alotha, The Waking City - will go live early next year.

Visions of N’Zoth is making good progress on the PTR, and currently with your help, we have been comprehensively testing the new content along with iterating on new systems like Corruption.

During the holiday season, we want to be considerate of all our players with the release timing of new content. Many guilds are still progressing through The Eternal Palace, and we want to give them enough time to finish the raid and earn their Cutting Edge: Queen Azshara and Ahead of the Curve achievements before opening the new raid. We try to avoid releasing new content tiers during the holiday season so that players are not encouraged to choose between progression and spending time with their families and friends. This also helps ensure us that we’re fully staffed to support any required hotfixes or turning issues that may emerge.

This will also give everyone extra time to enjoy the WoW 15th Anniversary event starting today, so you can play through the limited-time Memories of Azeroth raids and Korrak’s Revenge without having to rush through the festivities.

We’ll have more info on the new raid and content update in the next few weeks, so stay tuned to the forums and worldofwarcraft.com for the latest news as we head into the holiday season.

Next year is less than 60 days away. Think of it like that. Probably going to be early January.

These next 2 months are gonna suck.

January 7 starting to look more and more plausible!

Good on them AND myself, I for one would've ditched playing 8.3 if it had been coming out during Christmas!

Yeah, and I'd actually appreciate this not being dropped during the holidays. People are busy with family, travel, work, finals. In my experience, having a new raid drop around this time of the year is basically synonymous with having it drop in January.

Would have been nice to have 8.3 before holiday season so i dont have to spend so much time with family and friends.
Ah well. Guess I have to work up my social skills again then.

With any luck, that's how long the LFR queue for the holiday event will take anyway, so you're all set on what to do in the meantime (wait in queue)

Cool, because unless Shadowlands gets like a July release which is unlikely, we'll be sitting on 8.3 for at least 7-8 months, 9 if Shadowlands releases in late September.

Most WoW players are introverts, and the tech ones among them likely have taken little PTO over the course of the year due to tech having demanding schedules. Many (most?) tech people take the last 2-3 weeks of the year off, and would like having a game to binge on in that time period.

Just probably won't be WoW with how schedules have worked out.

It makes sense to not have Blizzard devs and CMs working 80 hr weeks during the holidays.

I mean, okay, nobody asked for the raid to be during Christmas.

But please, drop the patch in late-Nov/early-Dec like they did 8.1.
No "new season" ilvl (so same as Eternal Palace) but we would get to play Mechagon M+ and Visions.

    Please?

Nice, this is a good change. Argus releasing just before xmas was rough.

Nice to not have to worry so much about the roster boss and come in fresh.

Kinda expected the patch to still hit live this year with the raid just coming out like mid to late January - basically like they did with 8.1 and BoD.

Not getting anything new for the next 2 months... seems really weird. I'm afraid that the coming holiday season will kill an incredible amount of guilds because even the most casuals of the casual will just not have anything to do.

Wow, so I don't get to level my Vulpera/mechagnome when i have actual free time during the holidays so that I am ready for the raid comes out after the holidays and I am busy again? Smart.

seriously? I was sure it will be January, PTR started in october, 2 moths to test 12bosses raid and some other stuff seems very unlikely...
