Heart of Azeroth and Legendary Cloak Changes

We’ve heard a lot of feedback from players, and we agree, that there’s value in being able to reach a point where you’re essentially done with Artifact Power.

  • Increasing the Artifact Level of the Heart after unlocking its final Stamina node will continue to increase the Heart of Azeroth’s item level by 2 per step, but otherwise, major progression will end at Artifact Level 80.

To complement this, we’re adding an item in Visions of N’Zoth that players will earn once they’ve upgraded their legendary cloak to its maximum potential via Horrific Visions or from defeating N’Zoth on Normal, Heroic, or Mythic difficulty, or from fully completing a Horrific Vision with at least one Mask active. This item will fortify the cloak, adding additional Corruption Resistance and allowing players to earn the ability to wear more Corrupted armor pieces as time goes by.

We see this as similar to the way that legendary upgrade items were awarded by Archimonde or Argus the Unmaker at the end of the last two expansions – it should provide players who prefer to not do organized raiding with a way to have an engaging option for pursuing this reward.

WoW Classic - Honor Ranks Upcoming Fix

Rest assured that everyone’s kills are counting as expected, and after an additional realm restart in each region, you’ll have the correct rank for this week.
We’re moving to do those realm restarts as soon as we can following the weekly Honor and Raid reset. These restarts are being scheduled for 3:00 a.m. CET Thursday, November 21 in this region.

Thank you for your patience!

If you can continue to upgrade the item level of the neck forever, you're never actually done with artifact power. How do they not understand this?

That +2 ilvl will be even a bigger grind when you take into consideration that essences scale with the heart's ilvl.

Not really, the reward vs time effort and scaling of AP required for the next level will make it not worth the investment

Well, I personally won't grind it but you know it only takes one of those weirdos with a cam to bitch about it and we'll have people whining about it non-stop till Shadowlands

I know what you mean, but +2 ilvl probably wont be enough of a reward to justify the 100k AP you'll probably need to hit the next level. Sure there will be people who will do it, but they will probably gain 0.0001% power gain from it

Frankly, I'd rather have the ever-increasing corruption resist rather than the ilvl boost. Eventually you'd hit the point where you're corruption proof and then you could well and truly stop.

ah fuck I was hoping that once you hit 80 all AP would revert to gold again.

Ehhh farming out the corruption would be far far more important than farming out +2ilvl per neck level. You’d easily have people grinding like madmen to get more corruption resistance because of how insane these items are but I guarantee not many will care to get their neck too high with just ilvl being the reward. You can basically stop at ~85 with ilvl, nothing will matter too much past that and realistically what you farm only matters during progress which is why the corruption resistance shit was looking to be so bad. It leads to putting on more OP items which would cause people to farm it.

This is a good change, it’ll certainly alleviate any big grinding outside of just hitting like 75 or whatever it is for the new essence. I’d prefer to have no infinite grinds though so hopefully this’ll be done with by next expansion. However, for the time being it’s a good change.

It should just stop at lvl 80 giving corruption increases from 70 to 80 and stam node only, then get fucked off forever so we can move on and concentrate on something more interesting!

Gotta love it people whinged about the endless AP grind in Legion.. Now they decided to remove the need to endlessly grind AP for the HoA and people are whinging.. I see this as good as they have now given us a set goal now with the HoA..

First: 2 ilvl exist since 8.0. But i think you meaned the cloak-grind. Grind exist since vanilla, that's this MMO in a nutshell. But here the grind is not endless like the running away from the AP/AK-Grind where next week is better to farm then this week because there are x% less AP-Requirement. No, here you can haven an advantage by playing the game, not by waiting until it's next week. Also the grind is not endless here, because there's a cap how much corruption resistance you need, both a soft and a hard one.

So compared to the endless AP-Grind it's a massive improvement. And the 2 ilvl does not matter at all.

Thats the point of a MMOrpg anyways to keep you playing.

My heart goes out to anyone who can't stop grinding something unless the game actually sets a hard limit to what they're grinding. Me, I'm able to tell when something isn't worth the time investment and simply not do it, even if there's still technically something to be gained.

They understand it perfectly well, but won't admit it. Raiders and collectors are their main cash cows beside releasing new expansions, so they try too keep those busy by adding "endless" things like new time consuming achievements, endless progression etc.

    Same heere.

This currently looks more like we will end up with some weird cases where a bunch of items might essentially just end up dead weight in our bags. It also makes simming even more important, because now I'm probably guaranteed to have multiple corrupted items in my bags and I certainly can't use all of them. Finding the best combination of these is pretty much only doable by iterating the everliving hell out of them in simulations.

Do we know how they intend to handle the m+ cache?

Edit: Also potentially adding the endless grind to the cloak isn't really getting rid of the endless grind :P.

so in the end nothing changes

now instead farming ap you will farm masks .

yay what a crucial change that solves nothing.

I think nobody is saying there shouldn't be a reason to login, it should just be a good, fun and worthwhile reason. Unlike the AP system.

I wish they put a legendary in this expansion earlier than the final patch, after seeing the Shadowlands trailer which shows promise. I can't bring myself to grind a time gated cloak/visions for a year.
