US Realm Connections - August 13

During a special maintenance period (currently planned for 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PDT (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EDT) on Thursday, August 13), the following realm connections will be made:

  • The Frostwolf and Vashj realms will join Drak’Tharon, Firetree, Malorne, Rivendare, Spirestone, and Stormscale .
  • The Blackrock realm will join the Azjol-Nerub and Khaz Modan realms.
  • The Garona realm will join the Icecrown and Malygos realms.
  • The Bloodscalp, Boulderfist, Maiev, and Stonemaul realms will join the Quel’dorei and Sen’jin realms.
  • Garrosh will join Aegwynn, Bonechewer, Daggerspine, and Hakkar.

We are planning more realm connections for low-population realms, and we will post further notifications like this one in the coming weeks.

    I'm still surprised to see Blackrock being merged. I have a couple toons on those servers and they are usually pretty busy/active.

    They merged my server a year too late. I already left. Glad for the people still there though.

    Damn, it sure is a surprise seeing Garrosh merged with anything! Good to see that they're giving my server some love

    We almost have megaservers right now. Only things left are economy and mythic raids during progression.

    I would like to see Twisting Nether-EU to merge with alliance heavy server like Ravencrest-EU. It's impossible to play in 200:1 horde to alliance ratio server as alliance.

    So they are giving an alliance realm(Lothar) a horde realm(aszhara). This will help both side tremendously in recruitment, maybe except the one alliance guild on aszhara or the one horde guild on lothar.
    I guess horde/alliance balance was Bwizz4rds focus for what reason.
    Why doesnt blizzard ask the players of the realms what they would be looking for in a realm merger? -.-'

    Yeah, that's why I'm confused. From what I've seen on the couple of toons it is always booming pretty good. Meanwhile my main realm has like 6 or 7 connections and still dead like it was never connected and hasn't seen any new ones lately.

    LOL this joke with Al'Akir being connected to Burning Legion. Burning Legion is the smallest single realm, it also doesn't have a healthy alliance population. Burning Legion is full of Polish people, it's literally a Polish server.

    what about the 5 other EU servers blizzard announced earlier and never connected?

    Either way though blizzard is going hard connecting German servers...

    In other completely irrelevant news, Guild Wars 2 will receive its first underwater mount FFXIV just received an expansion sized patch and FFXI will also receive more playable story content soonish.

    My guild left Icecrown/Malygos over a year ago due to it being dead for raid recruitment. It's nice to see it get some help.

    Seriously. The technology is clearly already there, seeing as you can instantly hop between servers without a hitch if you party up cross-realm. Maybe there's a bit too many people for just one megaserver, but they could easily make a handful. The only thing stopping them is wanting to keep getting that server transfer money.

    Look, I really enjoy FFXIV, but to call it an expansion sized patch is super misleading.

    5.3 is actually one of the smallest patches they've ever done in terms of content, and it's about on par with any X.Y patch on WoW.

    The biggest changes are making the ARR leveling a little more streamlined, adding flying to ARR zones, and of course the new raid.

    Don't get me wrong, FFXIV is a phenomenal game but if you're hoping to get more people to look at the game, you shouldn't oversell it.
