Shadowlands Pre-Patch Event - Scourge Invasion in Icecrown
After you complete the introduction questline, you are sent to Icecrown and find out that the zone has been overrun with undead. Additionally, notable bosses from Naxxramas, Icecrown Citadel and Wrath of the Lich King dungeons now spawn regularly as rares throughout Icecrown.

The loot is themed after the original items, for example Patchwerk can drop Severance of Mortality (Severance), Noth the Plaguebringer can drop Hailstone Loop (Hailstone Band) and Professor Putricide can drop Miniscule Abomination in a Jar (Tiny Abomination in a Jar).

We have datamined many items added in Patch 9.0.1 PTR Build 35522 that drop from rares in Icecrown. The loot is item level 100, which is awesome for ungeared alts going into Shadowlands.

    So nothing cool or even worth doing for most people, at least in the Wrath they gave us something unique to work towards like this set (which I somehow knew to keep for the future) and also the pre-legion event sets which they removed as well.

    Yeah, if all we're really getting is (not even recolored) WoTLK gear with slightly altered names and 445 equivalent stats, then there's no reason to even do it.

    A HD version of that set or a whole new set would be kino, though. And/or a Frostwyrm mount (Nightbane recolor) or Midnight recolor.

    So basically its purely for people that would like to steam up alts quickly before launch, other then that its a waist of valueble time so far.

    Well if Blizzard ever gets around to implementing DLSS tech they won't need to ever upgrade a texture again from older content, it will dynamically upscale resolutions and it is basically invisible to the naked eye that it is happening.

    Would be a cool notion to automatically update old gear. Though it isn't equivalent to a modern-time upres, I don't think? Since new stuff has a fairly different style. More polished, more cartoony, which is either positive or negative for you, but it's a clear distinction, haha.

    I'd love to see a current day Judgment set, though, so if they do make a new Undead Slaying set, that'd be great.

    Ya I know what you are saying, redrawing and remodeling the assets would defiantly make it beautiful. DLSS I mentioned is just real time AI enhanced up-scaling so nothing is permanent but it looks very crisp and you don't see any pixelation or artifacts unless you really have a sharp eye, it is an insane technology that is going to change gaming and image/video editing and since it is a deep learning AI is will just keep getting better at it.

    I'm definitely in favor of what you're suggesting. Not sure how viable it is professionally speaking, but basically automating the uprezzing of oldschool gear would be pretty good. It would pretty much make old mog usable again.

    Seems a waste just getting renamed wotlk items.

    There's so many lost colour tints and missing items from sets that they could have used for all these items.

    Personally I like some of the Naxx non-tier sets, but most seem to be missing one or two pieces to make them complete - could have been a perfect opportunity to finish them up.

    In wrath you had to kill most of the ebonblade. The reawake them as again from death

    Well this is the first one in a while that doesn't have some kind of new limited time transmog/gear/mounts we can attain. Legion had a unique set for every armor type that they removed from the game. It gives people a reason to do the pre-patch stuff that may not care, which is exactly where I am at. I just do not care about this event.
