During a scheduled maintenance period planned for 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PDT on Thursday, August 27, the following realm connections will be made:

  • The Antonidas and Uldum realms will join the Akama, Dragonmaw, Eldre’Thalas, Korialstrasz, and Mug’thol realms.
  • The Muradin and Nordrassil realms will join the Azjol-Nerub, Blackrock, and Khaz Modan realms.
  • The Anvilmar and Undermine realms will join the Alterac Mountains, Balnazzar, Gorgonnash, The Forgotten Coast, and Warsong realms.
  • The Andorhal, Scilla, Ursin, and Zuluhed realms will join the Eonar and Velen realms. (This connection was begun, but not completed, last week)
  • The Arathor and Drenden realms will join the Anub’arak, Chromaggus, Crushridge, Garithos, Nathrezim, and Smolderthorn realms.
  • The Garona realm will join the Icecrown and Malygos realms. (This connection was begun, but not completed, last week)
  • Kargath and Norgannon will join Agamaggan, Archimonde, Burning Legion, Jaedenar, and The Underbog.

We are planning more realm connections for low-population realms, and we will post further notifications like this one in the coming weeks.

    I hope we get some news on EU realm connections soon.

    Edit: Oh shit, they announced more with my realm being one of them!

    That's the number of realms that are being merged into each cluster and there's no way to know which servers are connected without looking it up on an external website.

    Good luck anyone from Antonidas in knowing who you can join guilds with, trade with, etc and who is just there as a sharded CRZ person.

    They need to find a solution to actually merging the servers with as little impact on the players as possible. In the least, they need to make it so all the servers that are connected are visibly linked together in the "select a realm" screen."

    Merging realms for real is bad PR.

    Oh look my alt server, Blackrock, is getting merged again which is the second time in this go around. Not to mention it lists as High in-game now. My dead server that was merged with about 6-7 others back in MoP are still dead, show low pop.

    Glad to know how Blizzard prioritizes merges >_>

    Imo, they should do server merges, but combine it with adding positive features like an expanded naming convention with spaces and - for family names etc. Take the edge off the potential stigma by offering tangible perks.

    they cant just connect realms. you cant have two people on the same realm with the same name. people will flip shit over being forced to name change, when they havent violated the ToS.

    They need to cluster the merged realms somehow because you shouldn’t have to go to an external source to find out which servers are connected to yours.

    Still on the look for another realm merging with Doomhammer (other than Baelgun)

    They connected Lothar with Grizzly Hills a while back. A guy and I have the same name there but with - Server Name after it.

    At this point shouldn't we have in-game information on character screen which realms are connected to ours?

    that's not how the names work. you can have multiple people on the merged server using the same name, each will have their OG server name after it to differentiate

    probably leaving us for last. looking at our realms though there would only be a couple needed. we have 12, 1 is full, 5 are high, 2 medium and 4 low. probably the easiest thing to do for them is just to whack all the low and mediums together for a 6 realm mega server

    They are merging a dead horde realm (frostwhisper) with a dead alliance realm (darksorrow). What the fuck is the point? There won't be more players to play with. Just spitting in our face

    Would be nice if they could reduce the server clutter on the realm selection. Are there even new players tho that really cares? Not sure how they would visually make the clutter less but yet show people the merged servers. Not that it would matter since it would still display the "server" with your characters on it in the cluster. It would just look far more neat on the screen.
