what's just as amazing to me is that he plays with UI like that especially the nameplates position.

Hasn’t he been banned more than once for using what Blizzard considered exploits?

I mean he does it solo, not like he’s cheating for a guild or charging for carries.

Somehow I think Blizzard devs just don’t like being shown how people can truly take advantage of all that’s in the game or the holes they’ve left that can be utilized.

Happened at least once as far as I recall,but he always waits until bugs and exploits are fixed before posting his videos so that helps

Yes and no. He definitely has been banned for this sort of thing before, but he's gotten famous enough for this sort of thing which he does in a way which actually helps Blizzard out.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the process generally goes something like:

-Rextroy figures out how to do something absurd like this and records it.
-Because it usually involves some sort of an exploit, he does get banned.
-Rextroy contacts blizzard showing the video and gives them an exact set of steps for how to reproduce it.
-Blizzard reverses the ban and hotfixes the issue so no one else can do it.
-Rextroy releases his video to the public (after it's "fixed") and gets internet karma.

He reports everything to Blizzard before releasing those videos and then waits until issues are hotfixed.
Read, he is basically doing QA job for free, there is no reason Blizzard should ban him.

I think he was banned only once and the ban was quickly reverted.

He was banned once but it was an communication issue with EU and NA devs. Here's a official quote.

Just pulling back the curtain a little here but long story short, this was a mistake on our end. This player actually has a great history of reporting issues with us that they've found, and they wait for us to verify it's fixed before they put the videos up. This was a case of not everyone internally knowing this was happening and that the exploits he showcased were fixed, before the videos were posted.

The videos being posted are an example of great bug reporting in how detailed they are in showing how exactly to reproduce an issue. This is something Ion hit on in the last Q&A where he talked about the Quality Assurance team and how they have to reproduce issues that players report to us. Sometimes reports aren't detailed enough and it makes it a little harder to figure out some issues.

I don't use any add-ons and I am pretty damn good at WoW, all specs and classes. So it is not that insane lol.

The method isn't new, he just brought it to the limit that gear allows currently.

There are a shocking number of good players with atrocious UIs. They succeed despite their best efforts lol

There's no addon out there that'll turn you into a 1337 roxor myffic raider if you're not already good at the game

Exploiting is exploiting, doesnt matter if its solo as guild or as carry.

The title of this post is a STARK reminder that I haven't played WoW in a long, long time.

It isn't exploiting though. It is using broken mechanics they intentionally put into the game.

When something is a true exploit, Rextroy lets Blizzard know and waits for the fix before posting.

Nothing broke about paladins or versatility stacking, amiright?

This is part of the reason we'll get diminishing returns on secondary stat stacking in SL.

TBH the default UI is quite good and functional for the vast, vast majority of people if you ask me, you don't need fancy ones to do well. Our GM raid leads and has top parses, and he only has a nameplate mod. I more or less do the same, I'm nowhere as good as him but I find most UI mods an eyesore and always end up going back to vanilla which never hampers my performance in any tangible way.
