Mac Support Update - November 16

We’re pleased to have native day one support for Apple Silicon.

While our testing has been successful, we’re highly aware of the nature of day one support with updates like this. Please let us know if you run into any issues that may be related to Apple Silicon in our Mac Technical Support forum.

Thank you very much.

Curseforge Update - Addon Updates Suspended During Shadowlands Launch
Curseforge let the community know that they will suspend manual moderation of addons on 11/24 and go read only on 11/30, with service to be restored in December. This will only affect authors updating their addons, players will still be able to download the latest version that was live before read only mode.

  • On 11/24, support.curseforge.com will be temporarily closed until early December. No new cases will be able to be created on or after this date until the transition to Overwolf is complete. In the interim, any support requests should be tweeted to Curseforge.
  • On 11/24, manual project moderation will be paused. All content requiring manual moderation submitted on or after this date will be queued to be reviewed once manual moderation is reinstated.
  • On 11/30, Curseforge will enter read-only mode at 6AM PST. Curseforge is expected to stay in read-only mode throughout the week, and full functionality is expected to return by early December.

Once CurseForge is transferred to Overwolf — which we expect to begin on 11/30 — Overwolf will be reopening support and manual moderation as quickly as possible. Their current plan is to have everything back up and running by early December.

The biggest issue here is going to be Addons that have some minor error thrown in during the launch that they will NOT be able to update through the usual means, which means Addons gonna be busted and have to manually be updated..

This is great news for all of those who was calling out Curseforge for not going fast enough w/ their rollout.. You're all about to be validated.

Bad news for players as a whole though.

Why do that right when the expansion launches, which is when a lot of addons break? WTH?

Just to clarify here - only new addons will be affected by the manual review process pause. Addon authors will have up to the 30th to upload updates for their addons

Launch isn't today. This is standard practice -- all the major addons will be updated before launch of the content, which is a week (approximately) a week from today, as of this post. Every major update has gone through this cycle, there's no concern here.

    Also, lots of other updaters.

A transfer of ownership, the date was likely set in stone months ago and cannot be altered.

Pretty much any addon that works now should work at launch. All major changes to the API were done in 9.0.1, 9.0.2 doesn't change anything in the API.

Switched from Curseforge a few months back, glad I did now. Thankfully there are other options. I would manage them old school manually if I have to before using Overwolf.

The lengthy transition process confirms their technical incompetence. The timing confirms their management incompetence.

Everyone should flee that sinking ship immediately.

Everyone liking the vanilla loading screen in the new patch?

There have been a couple times in my life where outcries have stopped a business or service from selling out.

I'm sad to see that in this case the same hasn't happened for Curseforge.

I truly hope some one is working on a Curseforge alternative, because there is near zero chance that Overwolf allows other programs to scrape curseforge in the long term.

Fun story, the Dwarf on the Gryphon loading screen is blizzards "error" load screen. its the loading screen used when the game calls for a load screen without specifying which one.

I thought the same. But new dungeons, new levels etc. Some things will break. It might be minor bugs, that are easy to fix, but could still be a problem for some

9.0.2 changed quite a bit actually, and I guarantee there will be addon updates next week. This is the nightmare everyone predicted would come with Overwolf.
