Soulbinds Updates - November 18

With hotfixes to the Shadowlands Beta, we’re making some targeted changes to the Pelagos, Emeni, and Heirmir soulbinds.

One of our primary goals for the Soulbind system is to provide compelling choices and texture differences between Covenants as well as individual Soulbind trees. When one tree or trait is noticeably overperforming (or underperforming), it can distort those choices. These adjustments are intended to shrink the gaps that we’ve seen and make it easier for players to choose the Covenant and Soulbind they’re most interested in or best fits their playstyle.

  • Kyrian/Pelagos: Let Go of the Past now provides 1% reduced magic damage taken per stack, instead of Versatility.
    • The tooltip now reads "Using a spell or ability reduces your magic damage taken by 1% for 6 seconds. Using another spell or ability increases this amount by 1% when it is not a repeat of the previous spell or ability, stacking to 3%.
  • Necrolord/Emeni: Lead by Example now grants the soulbound player 2% additional primary stat per affected ally (was 5%), but will count all affected allies instead of just the first 2, and affects up to 4 nearby allies.
    • The tooltip now reads “Your Covenant class ability increases your primary stat by 5% and up to 4 nearby allies’ primary stat by 2% for 30.0 seconds. You gain 2% additional primary stat for each ally affected.”
  • Necrolord/Heirmir: Forgeborne Reveries, in addition to the existing post-death effect, will now also passively increase your primary stat and your armor by 1% for each enchantment on your armor, up to 3% if you have at least 3 enchanted armor items.
    • The tooltip now reads “Your primary stat and Armor are increased by 1% for each enchantment on your armor, up to 3%. Upon death your armor anchors your soul, allowing you to fight for an additional 10 seconds. During this time, your damage and healing done is reduced by 50% and you cannot receive healing.”

As always, your feedback is invaluable in helping us make these changes. Thank you!

Guy's we want your choices to matter. Also, in light of this we're going to make the choice of soulbind matter as little as possible.

I'm getting mixed messages here Ion.

It’s not extra it’s just a path that allows you two throughput traits and two potency conduits

No, all soulbinds have exactly 2 potency conduits now.

I think what it is comes down to is the layout. Pelagos gets both potency conduits and still gets his best final trait for what used to be the versatility bonus. For others, such as Nadjia, she gets a potency conduit followed by duration reduction of snares and roots. Nadjia isn’t the only one, and neither is Pelagos; however, Pelagos has one of the better layouts with a decent end trait.

Well, had, now the end trait is mostly useless lol.

IIRC they are account wide, but limited to characters of the same covenant.

True. There are a couple others with this layout right now, but their end ability isn’t as good as Pelagos’ original Versa one.

This never went to live game so im sure it doesn't matter now.

Would have been nice if they didn’t waste so much development time on this non content garbage. I would rather have seen more dungeons or more side content like island expeditions(but less sucky). Hell just work on existing content so it’s not so shallow, like professions for example.

    SHADOWLANDS=WOD2

read me now, quote me later, lets hope the next time they learn their lesson as they said every single expansion they messed up,next one will be a winner for sure
Damn, I'd kill for a properly executed WoD! It had soo much potential, glorious sights, lots of lore to unravel.. But they abandoned it, guess right after it's release, to work on Legion.
It's not fair to compare an abandoned product to the expansions after it, if WoD had the content updates Legion and BfA had, it could have been one of the best.

Another thought: imagine Legion of BfA WITHOUT Mythic+.

Oh yeah, wod at first glanse felt amazing, the potential for it there was awsome, and it did have plenty of good, lvling was among the best, raiding was top notch

Its kinda funny to compare wod and mop,wod was among the most hyped and looked badass etc,and it turned out to be an almost empthy shell, meanwile mop had by far the worst presentation and initial negative players opinion, but ended up being one of the best expansions

This going to be case throughout the expansion, only you’ll have already chosen a covenant that perhaps gets smashed with the nerf hammer... people will just find the next best soulbind and so the cycle continues

Jesus, imagine the human ressources and hours they put into this system. How many time was the souldbind system changed as of now? Crazy. And all you get is a button and glyph style shmancy stuff.

Problem with soulbinds is you can only have 3 conduits at same time ...

I find that too little. I would like to use a lot more conduits in a larger tree.

Also the conduits themselves are kind of basic, just increase damage to
this or that ability... or reduce cooldown to this or that utiliy or defensive ...

    Make larger soulbind trees.

Make more cool conduits, doesnt have to be strong, just cool and fun.

I guess there is 15 ranks to them which looks like fun atleast.

Its not a bad system but I hope they gonna expand it with future
    content patches.

I really wish that once, just once, they'd buff other things to make them competitive instead of nerfing everything until they no longer matter.
