Shadowlands Week 2 - What to Do
Today is the first reset since the launch of Shadowlands. Here is a quick overview of what you can do this week to prepare for the start of Season 1 and the opening of Castle Nathria.

    • Note - If you already unlocked Layer 3 in a wing last week you only need to do a layer 3 run in each wing this week for the max amount of Soul Ash.
  • You can earn 100 extra Soul Ash from a new quest offered by Bolvar to collect 10 souls within Torghast.
  • Wings
    • Fractured Halls
    • Mort'regar

Craft Your First Legendary
  • You can have a total of 1520 Soul Ash between last week and this week, with a small amount of extra if you managed to get some from your Adventure Table Missions.
  • To craft a rank 1 Legendary, you need the following:
    • The legendary recipe from obtaining the memory drop. Refer to the powers section of your adventure guide to find out where they drop.
    • The Base crafted piece obtained on the auction house or through crafting.
    • Missives to determine the stats of the legendary. These are also bought on the auction house of crafted by scribes.

Renown Weekly Quests
  • If you completed the initial campaign to unlock your Covenant sanctum and completed the weekly renown quest "Replenish the Reservoir" then you reached Renown Rank 3 with your covenant last week.
  • This week, you can reach Renown Rank 6 by completing both the "Replenish the Reservoir" to collect 1000 anima and "Return Lost Souls" to rescue 5 lost souls from the Maw. This will get you to Rank 5 and unlock the next chapter of your Covenant Campaign, which in turn will give you another Renown rank when you complete it.

Covenant Campaign Chapter 3
  • Upon reaching Renown rank 5 you will be able to continue the next chapter of your Covenant Campaign.
  • Completing this chapter will give you a renown rank and a cosmetic reward.
  • You will also unlock your 2nd soulbind by completing this chapter.

Oribos Weekly Quests
  • Be sure to pick up your two dungeon weekly quests for anima as well as the PvP weekly.
    • Dungeons
      • Sanguine Halls
      • Plaguefall
    • PvP
      • 1500 Honor in Epic Battlegrounds

Mythic Dungeon World Tour
  • With reset, all mythic dungeons can be completed again this week for a chance at 184 item level gear!

To much crap I feel compelled to do everyday/week for my main. I thought this was supposed to be the "alt-friendly" expansion.

Except Torghast, where you are not able to catch-up on Soul Ash for legendaries, what else is feeling overwhelming to you? Because everything else is very loose, and catchup-able.

Seems like whining for the sake of whining.

too much stuff. my daily 1~2 hours of play cannot keep up with this. at the weekend I might go longer but welp, I guess my 16 years of wow career must come to a bitter end. I love hc-mythic raiding and m15+ but I do not think I can keep up with legendary crafting, upgrades, conduit upgrades, renown upgrades.

Well most people are leveling alts since they are already bored as by firday they were done with everything there was to for their mains.

Mythic raiding on an hour per day of play time has never been viable... Especially not early in the patch cycle. I'd argue that right now this is probably the lowest amount of required effort of any expac.

    - Torg is like an hour per week.
    - Anima renown quest sort of completes itself by just playing.
    - Souls renown quest takes all of 15m
    - Story chapters takes maybe a couple hours, probably less.
    - 8 mythics, about 4 hours with a half-competent group.

I count only 7-8 hours total of mandatory activity to make yourself viable to raid this week. Half of which is spent in dungeons that are fun. Torg is also fun. I'd hardly call that overwhelming. This is nothing like previous xpacs where you had to spam dailies or WQs every single day.

Sure you can vastly expand your time investment by doing other activities and trying to progress to the absolute max but those sorts of activities have never felt more optional than they do now.

I'm very positive on SL so far because it requires that I participate in the lowest volume of boring content of any xpac. Every evening I find myself running out of boring stuff to do super fast and I just end up running dungeons or bgs for fun.

Lol, what all do you HAVE to do every day? The Calling quests last 3 days (like emissaries), Torghast is a 1 day run, and you can spread the BG/Dungeon runs thru the week or just plop down for a few hours and hammer it out in 1.
The only things you have to do are dailies (like the mushroom NPC if Night Fae for example), and even those aren’t required if you don’t feel like it.
Some people have 3-4 alts already in my guild and aren’t any further behind others in the campaign than people who have 1. Hell, I have 2 max level characters and a 3rd at level 55 and I’ve put in 12 hours of overtime on top of my 40 hour work week since Wednesday.

Man I miss the simple days of just logging on and having fun. Just looking on that list of a bunch of "chores" you feel you have to do for <insert reasons here>. For some there might be a few enjoyable things in that list. I am not judging. Just imagine in your guild(assuming you're progressing) if you were to just take a break or something. Good luck with that. Someone above summed it up nicely with these being more or less mandatory "tasks" to do. Then you have people justifying it, just straight out hilarious. It's a game and this is what you get when you let a company tell you what *fun* is. Enjoy.

Jeeez. Again all this whining of people who don't have time to do anything. I think some of you just need to quit MMO's alltogether.
This expansion litterally has the least amount of stuff you NEED to do. This Torghast takes 1h per WEEK if you only get the ash you want. The renown is basicly automatically gained by doing the covenant campaign, the actualy story of the expansion.... There are no reps that you NEED to farm at all. There is no AP like BFA...

The list above can be done in half a day and you have a full week to do it.

And again, nothing is mandatory. Anything that you think is mandatory is on you.
I would say there are only mandatory things IF you raid mythic early on.

Anyone else having the issue of not being able to pick up the "return the lost souls" quest? I'm in EU and I can get all the other weekly quests just Can't find the quest giver at all.

edit: never mind, it popped after my 5th relog.... ffs

damn, what you feel you have to do?
    torghast is weekly,
you need 4 WQ for covenant daily (that can be done in 3 days and take 30-40 mins top), like 15 mins on anima conduit for 2 spots, and maybe 2 wq in maw although im not sure they are that important

in my 2-3h play per day 70% im spending on grinding dungeon for legendary although its not like you have to do it to, its also buyable with currency you get for making conduit objectives

    Wheres the problem?

Renown has a catch up mechanic.
Und soul ash just makes you get your legendary a bit later if you don't do it. There's nothing so far that you can't catch up with.

Compared to corruption where you could never catch up. This expansion is very casual friendly.

these aren't even ridiculous tasks, if you were to just log on and goof off you would probably knock out the majority of the list

if you don't want to do quests, or run dungeons, or play BGs then what are you even doing on wow? if having an overarching structure that rewards you for behavior you would already partake in is stressful to you then you have the mental capacity of a 5 year old

Some people here still seem to live in Legion/BfA world if they complain about their "chores". You have literally 2 weekly quests and story chapter. Rest is doing instances for your item level and Torghast - so both content where you have pay attention, so it's not mindless grind.

I couldn't start leveling and doing all this stuff at release and am doing it now, looks like I am screwed and will not be able to make a legendary this week, is this right?

1000 weekly Anima quest is too much work.

I have gotten about 250 in the first week. I don't feel like doing world quests for 35 Anima/each. 35 Anima should be a bonus reward together with some gear parts, not the reward itself!

It's turning into a fucking Korean grind game.
This is why I prefer SWTOR.

None of these things are remotely "mandatory" if you want to be competitive except running Torghast once a week and collecting 1,000 Anima to unlock higher renown for better soulbinds(and collecting 1,000 Anima will happen organically throughout the week if you play the game in Shadowlands).

Shadowlands is a clear example of people inventing reasons to complain. Blizzard for once in the last ten years actually listened and cut back on the borrowed power grind and gave people a bunch of optional things to do, and instead of just... not doing the things they don't like which other than Torghast there is no reason to do it as regards to player power they take it upon themselves to do everything and then burn themselves out and whine on forums about being forced to do so much stuff.

It is extremely rare to get a world quest for 35 anima. Most of them are 3-4 items for 35 anima each.

Rare huh? I can see a good few on the map this morning that are only 35 anima. not multiples of.
