Sire Denathrius
For countless ages, Sire Denathrius stood among the Eternal Ones who rule the realms of Death. But in the Shadowlands' darkest hour, he has betrayed his sacred duty. With his bloodthirsty living blade Remornia at his side and defended by his most sychophantic loyalists, Denathrius will cut a swath through any who stand against him and cast their remains into the inescapable terror of the Maw.

  • Overview - Denathrius begins the fight by tormenting players for their past transgressions. Player must be hit by Cleansing Pain to remove Burden of Sin before they run out of space to avoid Ravage.

    At 70% health, Denathrius casts March of the Penitent and drags players into his grand Observatorium, where they must face a chorus of his most powerful admirers while avoiding Remornia's attempts to Massacre them.

    At 40% health, Denathrius casts Indignation and begins to wield Remornia directly, assaulting players with a combination of his most powerful abilities.
  • Stage One: Sinners Be Cleansed - Players face Denathrius in the Nightcloak Sanctum, where he kindly offers enough pain to cleanse them of their sins.
    • Inevitable - Whenever Denathrius is unable to reach his target, he shifts through the shadows to their location and strikes them for 50% weapon damage.
    • Burden of Sin - All players gain 6 stacks of Burden of Sin at the start of the encounter. Every 2 sec, Burden of Sin inflicts 1 Shadow damage per stack.
    • Cleansing Pain - Denathrius strikes with immense cruelty, inflicting 45 Shadow damage to players in a cone in front of him. Players with Burden of Sin lose 1 stack and summon an Echo of Sin.
      Players without Burden of Sin receive 300% increased damage from this ability.
      • Collective Trauma - On Mythic difficulty, players hit by Cleansing Pain inflict 25 Shadow damage to allies within 2 yds. Allies with Burden of Sin lose 1 stack and summon an Echo of Sin.
      • Echo of Sin -
        • Painful Memories - Echoes of Sin inflict 2 Shadow damage to all players every 2 sec.
        • Ephemeral - Echoes of Sin are immune to all forms of crowd control.
        • Spiteful - If not destroyed within 14 sec, Echoes of Sin return to the players who created them and re-apply Burden of Sin.
    • Blood Price - Denathrius torments players with Burden of Sin, rendering them unable to move or act for 3.5 sec.
      When this effect expires, each player is knocked away from Denathrius and explodes for 6 Shadow damage to all players who have the same number of Burden of Sin stacks.
    • Feeding Time - Denathrius marks random players, then strikes 5 sec later. Inflicts 80 Physical damage to players within 4 yds of each target and heals Denathrius for [ 10,000% of E1 ]% of that amount.
    • Night Hunter - Denathrius creates images of himself that mark random players, then charge to them 6 sec later. Each image inflicts 20 Physical damage and applies Touch of the Night to all players in their path.
      Upon reaching their target, they strike with Insatiable Hunger.
      • Insatiable Hunger - Inflicts 150 Physical damage to players within 4 yds of the Night Hunter's target and heals Denathrius for [ 10,000% of E1 ]% of that amount.
        Damage is reduced for each player in the path of the Night Hunter.
      • Touch of the Night - Increases damage taken from Night Hunter by 500%.
    • Command: Ravage - Upon reaching 100 energy, Denathrius commands Remornia to unleash stored Anima against players.
      • Ravage - After 6 sec, Remornia releases anima in a huge arc, inflicting 90 Shadow damage to all players hit and filling the area with Desolation.
        • Desolation - Lingering Anima reduces all healing received by 100% and inflicts 16 Shadow damage every 1 sec to players who stand within it.
      • Commanding Presence - After casting Command: Ravage, Denathrius gains 10% increased damage. This effect stacks.
  • Intermission: March of the Penitent -
    • March of the Penitent - Upon reaching 70% health, Denathrius draws all players to the center of the room, then casts them outward to the edges.
      Players affected by Burden of Sin have their movement speed slowed by 10% per stack and are unable to use abilities.
      Moving within 16 yds of Denathrius absolves players of their Burden of Sin.
      • Fall of the Unworthy - After 15 sec, all players are pulled into the Observatorium along with Denathrius. Any player still affected by Burden of Sin falls to their violent, unavoidable death.
  • Stage Two: The Crimson Chorus - Once fully cleansed, players find themselves in the grand Observatorium, where countless mirrors are used to watch and manipulate events throughout the Shadowlands and beyond.

    Players can enter these mirrors to travel great distances, but there is no escape from Denathrius.
    • The Nightcloak - At the beginning of Stage Two, Denathrius calls upon some of his most trusted lieutenants.
      • Lady Sinsear -
        • Nathrian Hymn: Sinsear - Perform a dark ritual in honor of Denathrius, inflicting 5 Shadow damage to players within 50 yds every 2 sec.
          Increases damage taken from Lady Sinsear by 20% for 60 sec. This effect stacks.
        • Searing Censure - Every 5 sec, Lady Sinear releases a burst of anima missiles that scatter in all directions. Each missile inflicts 50 Shadow damage to players who come in contact with it and silences them for 6 sec.
        • Crescendo - Upon death, release a spectacular volley of anima toward each player. Inflicts 30 Shadow damage to players within 3.0 yds of the impact location and knocks them back.
      • Lord Evershade -
        • Nathrian Hymn: Evershade - Perform a dark ritual in honor of Denathrius, inflicting 5 Shadow damage to players within 50 yds every 2 sec.
          Increases damage taken from Lord Evershade by 20% for 60 sec. This effect stacks.
        • Baleful Shadows - Upon reaching 66% and 33% health, Lord Evershade summons Baleful Shadows.

            • Vengeful Wail - A horrific wail that inflicts 50 Shadow damage and interrupts spellcasting for 4 sec.

      • Baron Duskhollow -
        • Nathrian Hymn: Duskhollow - Perform a dark ritual in honor of Denathrius, inflicting 5 Shadow damage to players within 50 yds every 2 sec.
          Increases damage taken from Baron Duskhollow by 20% for 60 sec. This effect stacks.
        • Hollow Grasp - When a player further than 25 yds away attacks Baron Duskhollow, he reaches through the shadows and pulls them to his location.
        • Crescendo - Upon death, release a spectacular volley of anima toward each player. Inflicts 30 Shadow damage to players within 3.0 yds of the impact location and knocks them back.
      • Countess Gloomveil -
        • Nathrian Hymn: Gloomveil - Perform a dark ritual in honor of Denathrius, inflicting 5 Shadow damage to players within 50 yds every 2 sec.
          Increases damage taken from Countess Gloomveil by 20% for 60 sec. This effect stacks.
        • Gloom Veil - Countess Gloomveil envelops herself in a shroud of anima.
          Players are unable to target into or out of the shroud.
        • Crescendo - Upon death, release a spectacular volley of anima toward each player. Inflicts 30 Shadow damage to players within 3.0 yds of the impact location and knocks them back.
    • Crimson Cabalist - Members of the Crimson Cabal periodically enter the room. These loyal servants of Denathrius assault players with deadly anima magic.
      • Crimson Chorus - Crimson Cabalists channel a dark ritual that inflicts 2 Shadow damage per Cabalist to all players every 2 sec.
      • Crescendo - Upon death, release a spectacular volley of anima toward each player. Inflicts 30 Shadow damage to players within 3.0 yds of the impact location and knocks them back.
      • Dusk Elegy - When Denathrius reaches 40% health, all remaining Cabalists move to the inner platform and intensify their ritual. Healing received is reduced by 5% per Cabalist.
    • Remornia - Remornia aids Denathrius in battle. When not using an ability, she's free to move and attack players at will.
      • Inevitable - Whenever Remornia is unable to reach her target, she shifts through the shadows to their location and strikes them for 50% weapon damage.
      • Bloodbound - Remornia draws strength from Denathrius' life force. Any damage she takes is also taken by Denathrius.
      • Carnage - Remornia's attacks and abilities cause affected players to bleed for 2 Physical damage every 1 sec for 15 sec. This effect stacks.
      • Impale - Remornia marks random players, then impales each of them a few seconds later. Inflicts 65 Physical damage to all players in her path.
        • Rancor - When Remornia hits a player with Impale or Massacre, she scorches the area beneath them with seething hatred for 60 sec.
          Inflicts 8 Shadow damage every 1 sec and increases damage taken by 100% for players standing within.
    • Inevitable - Whenever Denathrius is unable to reach his target, he shifts through the shadows to their location and strikes them for 50% weapon damage.
    • Wracking Pain - Denathrius strikes with immense power, inflicting 45 Shadow damage to players and cabalists in the direction of his current target and increasing all damage they take by 30% for 24 sec.
    • Hand of Destruction - Denathrius pulls all players to his location and conjures an image of himself.
      After 6 sec, the image releases destructive energy that inflicts 130 Shadow damage to all players, reduced based on distance.
    • Command: Massacre - Upon reaching 100 energy, Denathrius commands Remornia to unleash a series of deadly attacks.
      • Massacre - Remornia releases her full power to form massive blades that slash in every direction, inflicting 55 Shadow damage to any players hit.
        • Rancor - When Remornia hits a player with Impale or Massacre, she scorches the area beneath them with seething hatred for 60 sec.
          Inflicts 8 Shadow damage every 1 sec and increases damage taken by 100% for players standing within.
  • Stage Three: Indignation - Having completely run out of patience, Denathrius opts to wield Remornia directly and crush players with his most powerful abilities.
    • Indignation - Upon reaching 40% health, Denathrius disables all mirrors and traps players within a twisting maelstrom of anima that inflicts 15 Shadow damage every 1 sec to players who attempt to escape.
    • Through the Mirror - As Indignation is cast, the mirrors in the room begin to warp.
      What awaits players who pass through a mirror during this time is known only to Denathrius himself.
    • Inevitable - Whenever Denathrius is unable to reach his target, he shifts through the shadows to their location and strikes them for 50% weapon damage.
    • Remornia - Denathrius wields Remornia. He attacks 25% slower, but his attacks inflict 50% more damage and apply Scorn.
      • Scorn - Inflicts 2 Shadow damage every 1 sec for 15 sec. This effect stacks.
    • Shattering Pain - Denathrius performs a series of deadly attacks, slashing his target for 100% weapon damage 3 times over 3 sec. He then finishes with a devastating blow that inflicts 30 Shadow damage to all players and knocks them back.
    • Fatal Finesse - Denathrius sets his sights on random players, then slashes each of them 5 sec later. Inflicts 45 Shadow damage to players within 9 yds of the target, plus an additional 6 Shadow damage every 1 sec for 20 sec.
      • Smoldering Ire - On Heroic difficulty and above, Fatal Finesse leaves behind a sphere of volatile anima that explodes after 10 sec, inflicting up to 120 Shadow damage to all players.
        Every 0.7 sec, the sphere inflicts 8 Shadow damage to players within 3 yds, reducing its final explosion damage by the same amount.
    • Hand of Destruction - Denathrius pulls all players to his location and conjures an image of himself.
      After 6 sec, the image releases destructive energy that inflicts 130 Shadow damage to all players, reduced based on distance.
    • Blood Price - Denathrius torments all players, rendering them unable to move or act for 3.5 sec.
