To begin your saga within the Twisting Corridors, you must complete the quest “Signs of the Lion,” offered by Bolvar Fordragon in Oribos as the culmination of your search through Torghast for Azeroth’s leaders. Once you’ve proven yourself worthy, you must survive 18 floors teeming with brutal enemies to reap the precious rewards within. This is no easy feat; success will come to those armed to the teeth, capable of using every ability at their disposal, and wisely selecting their Anima Powers to dispatch the terrors within. Successfully completing a key Layer will grant you an achievement along with a reward worthy of the most powerful adventurers.

Rewards

Layer 2 | Death Seeker – Battle pet
What horrors these eyes have seen in the tower of Torghast, with their unsleeping, unblinking gaze.

Layer 4 | Helm of the Dominated – Toy
The helm of the mawsworn, still seeping with the Jailer’s dominating energies.

Layer 6 | Title: Spirestalker

Layer 8 | Corridor Creeper – Mount
The loyal hounds of the Jailer creep along the corridors in search of the scent of souls.

Do not expect to find Soul Ash in these halls—the Jailer will do everything in his power to prevent you from becoming a threat. Treasure-seekers should also note that these plunders are for you and you alone, rewards from Twisting Corridor achievements can only be earned once.

Go forth Maw Walker—glory and valuables await!

Even with the cap It's incredibly strong. And finally the corruption anima power makes sense (for demo): Something spammable that I can use on the run while my felguard destroys everything it encounters. No need for hardcasts, except maybe the dogs, because they give me phantasma with each cast. But yeah, WL feels super OP in TC, I feel like a god walking through the halls.

I'm not entirely convinced it is capped but is simply bugged. The tool tip does seem to be capped at 500% but I experienced weirdness with my felguard on my one run. Most of the time my Felguard was stuck at about 530k health. The final few floors it was 1 million health and the damage done by soul strike seemed to go up based on each floor still.

I also had a few cases where my Felguard would start the floor with about 200k of 530k hit points and sometimes it happened in the middle of a floor. Even if it is capped and it was something else causing a bug on my run it is still a powerful power and I hope they don't change it.

If you are able to kill elites after 12 in less than 10 seconds, go further ahead and you'll kill the endboss. If you take 60 seconds to kill an elite enemy after 12, stop the run - unless you get very crazy rng and suddenly good powers, you'll most likely not beat the endboss, unless you know how to kite and abuse some stuff.
Went in there, 192, killed the last boss (3.1m life) in 3 seconds. (50% frost-damage on first hit, 600k starsurges one after another) Took around 1h40m, but killed everything that was killable - could have skipped everything after 12 via stealth, because I already had the combination I needed to deal with the last boss.

Sounds like some low layer, layer 4 last boss for me was over 5 mil, granted it had an 18% hp boost

Layer 1, yeah. That's the layer most people cry about "because muh quest". Just wanted to give a tip with the estimated killtime for elites.

If I always get this setup in every run.. well, L8 will be no problem at all.

Seriously??? As if, 6 floors wasn't enough, now we have to do 18??? And no soul ash?

Transcript of actual conversation in Blizzard Dev team:
B1: So, Torghast was a huge pile of crap and players hate it, as we planned it. How do make it worse, to annoy players even more?
B2: How about making it 12 floors high.. That would piss of everybody.
B1: I see your 12 and raise you 6... *evil laugh*
B2: Oi oi oi.. 18??? People will have heart attacks... It will be epic..
B1: But what about quality control?
    B2: Quality what????

It will take more than 3 x longer than a normal Torghast because - in effect - the 18 floors of layer 1 are like normal 1 + normal 2 + normal 3 (not 3 lots of normal 1).
I would disagree. After the 12th floor it ramped up quite fast, so it was far harder than layer 8 on any of the other areas at the end, so going solo I reached 16-17th floor on first run (As disc priest). Could probably have finished it if it wasn´t for elites doing half my health in damage.

Torghast itself is pretty fun content (there could be more variety with maps tho but I understand it's limited to jailer architecture yada yada...)

What it lacks is a meaningfull reward and some sort of "save" button where I can park myself on floor 11, go to sleep/work, come back and continue

No, you don't. For the quest it's enough if you do 6 floors 3 times.

Yeah, it would be nice if you got some more reward for the time spent there. But then I imagine all those people, who already complain about it, suddenly lose their minds because "they are forced to do this". Optional content they hate

Can I just join a group for Layer 8 to get the mount or do I need to complete all the layers before it? Currently stuck on 4.

Yea I know. I was talking about twisted. I did layer 1 on my hunter day one to unlock it for my account, then did 2-8 on my druid. It's easy.

This is the worst take I’ve ever seen.

    Imagine crying about optional content.

Take a guess. Afaik it uses the exact same progression model as normal torghast.

    It is boring.

You do the same thing on every layer, the only thing that really changes is the RNG of what powers you get.

I lost on floor 17 of a layer, with 1/3 of the HPs I had on floor 4 of my next attempt. I also got no synergies with abilities, etc. One run I ended with 100k HPs buffed another I ended with 1.29 million HPs buffed.

So there isn't really variety, you either get the best combo or you get some % of diminished power because you didn't get the best combo. One run you might only get 20% stat buff where the next one you get 80%.

And then the zone types themselves are also either pointlessly easy or "well that's needlessly difficult."

It feels like a protracted set of dice rolls that after 1 hour you might find, oops, I failed.

And then on top of all this it is further impacted by your covenant, class and spec. Some combos are amazing, where you can buff something to literally kill bosses in 3 seconds. Others are awful, where you get a measly tiny runspeed buff, etc.

I appreciate the attempt, but this style of game needs faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more variety and cannot be hindered by class/spec/role. All the effort they spent making unique abilities per class/covenant could have gone to a general pool, for example, if everyone started from scratch, a la isaac or hades.

It also is a pseudo-roguelike where it's missing the key element of gaining power through progressing. This just makes it a linear slog, like 8*16 linearly harder floors with resets every 16 floors. Snore.

They should have also done a torghast progression system, where you start at a baseline gear level and loot items / gain power out of torghast for use in torghast. The silliness of it getting easier just because of mudflation outside of torghast is probably what makes it the most tedious thing of all. You simply, eventually, win because you get strong enough from outside things.

I will never intentionally do layer 1 again, unless they ... add a point? I also try to gear up the same way every time. So the progression is really a function of what I've done in the rest of the game. zzzzzzzzz I'm falling asleep just thinking about crawling through the same mishmash of cut + paste maps agaaaaaain.

Despite all the complaints the 8th floor has already been beaten, back to the drawing board.

The only way to get a dead broker is if you threw the anima orb at one and killed one. If you kill one broker that way the brokers will be dead for the rest of the run.

Layer 8 ended up being easier for me than layer 7 was.
