Upcoming Class Tuning - January 12

Classes

  • Death Knight
    • Blood
      • Bone Shield grants armor equal to 70% of Strength (was 50%).
    • Frost
      • All damage is increased by an additional 2% while a two-handed weapon is equipped.
  • Mage
    • Frost
      • All damage abilities increased by 9%.
  • Monk
    • Windwalker
      • All damage is increased by an additional 2% while a two-handed weapon is equipped.
    • Brewmaster
      • All damage is increased by an additional 2% while a two-handed weapon is equipped.
  • Rogue
    • Assassination
      • All damage abilities increased by 8%.
  • Warrior
    • Fury
      • All damage abilities increased by 8%, except for Bladestorm and Dragon Roar.
      • Meat Cleaver talent now increases Whirlwind’s damage by 25% (was 30%).

PVP

  • Players will now drop PvP flags if they cast Podtender (including Temple of Kotmogu orbs).
    • Note: this fix will be applied to the live game as soon as possible, before the weekly reset.

As always, the changes above (with the exception of the Podtender fix) are a work in progress, and may differ before they go live. We’ll have the final tuning noted in our Hotfixes Update post next week.

Are they trying to force WW Monks to go 2 handed or am I missing something here?
It's a bit worse then that, Monks have a hidden buff that gives them 2% increased damage when using dual wield.........so they just made an itemization change that increases the damage for a weapon type to bring it in line with the other style.........meaning a 0% buff for anyone who knew that(i.e. most monks).

    OH THANK MERCIFUL CHRIST, FINALLY.
I'm really curious now because I'm currently leveling my mage for both, pve and arena and it would be interesting to see if frost becomes viable know.

Was the Frost DK change due to 2 1H was out performing 2H? Does this "buff" make it so that 2H is the route to go now for Frost?

9% would still leave it just below arcane which is also seen as nonviable due to how far behind fire it is. Fires short burst windows are just too fitting to the current raid for the other two specs to keep up.

To make it clear, these buffs are to make the gap less obvious, this does not make frost mage stup up from their last place, they will remain at the bottom sadly.

Yeah, no, you're not using the correct metric.

He's using normal logs for some reason, you need to use at least heroic, if not mythic.

    100%

Idk like for example in the past I felt like Shadowpriests were demoralised a lot in PVP; now they're actually decent. So I'm glad Blizzard are simply buffing other classes to par, other than nerfing classes back to free-meals.

Even if you'd use mythic or heroic logs there is something terribly skewed about those logs, because most of those classes / specs in the bottom 50% are just specs that are underplayed, people off-speccing into them without having the proper gear or talents or legendaries or conduits and covenants, etc. A lot of the underperformance of the lower specs is just due to lack of experience or commitment of the playerbase to play with those specs, so things aren't as awful as they actually appear.

The way scaling works will probably make BM the preferred Hunter spec mid to late xpac.

Normal logs just have more data than Heroic and Mythic and aren't skewed by class perception.

You're not either. You put a flat 1.08 damage boost to fury, when it clearly says "ABILITIES" - you're ignoring the fact that more than 20% of a fury warriors damage comes from autoattacks, Dragon Roar, consumables, and trinkets.
