MDI returns to YouTube this Friday, January 22, when top teams from around the world will face off to earn points towards advancing to the MDI Season 1 Global Finals and compete for their share of the $20,000 (USD) prize pool per cup. To make it to each cup, teams will need to prove themselves in Time Trials against more than 200 other teams, with the final eight teams advancing to each cup. Once all four cups have completed, the top six teams—based on total points—will advance to the Season 1 Global Finals where they will join with the top two teams from China to compete for the title of MDI Global Champion and their share of the $300,000 (USD) prize pool!

The cups will run alongside the Arena World Championship (AWC) Season 1, on alternating weekends between the two events. This will allow teams for both AWC and MDI additional time to practice before the next cup, providing greater opportunity for new strategies to develop while enhancing the overall competitiveness of each program.

Looks like he missed some neck hairs.

I wonder if this will ever take the place of NFL.

Similarly to AWC, really wish the casting, commentary and analysis improves for the MDI and not just repeat the same 5 sentences again and again or be silent for half the run. If you cant analyze or make the competition exciting, you should not be casting or commentating.

Lol looking forward to diverse comps including:

    VDH
    MM Hunter
    Balance Druid
    Rogue
    RSham

    ...and not much else.

So very little is going to change while this is ongoing? Prioritizing the competing players over the overall health of the game is a mistake. Balance the game and let's see them adapt instead of it being the same lackluster comps going up against each other with close to no variety. Makes for a boring tourny and a boring game.

And is also nonsensical, since these are the players who should be able to adapt the fastest. My guess is they don't want to look like a bunch of idiots by making something completely broken by mistake, like they always do. Indie company, what can you do..

I won't watch it like the Arena Championship. But you should wonder if Blizzard will ever realize how bad game balance is both in pve and pvp...

But only because people love these spec, has nothing to do with other specs being to weak (at least that's what Blizzard thinks)

Replace rogue with a monk, and you have perfect comp, but ye, your point stands correct.
I would even maybe replace balance druid with fire mage but I'm not exactly sure how are those 2 compared in overall

I know this has been repeated a million times. These prize pools are embarrassing for a company this size. This and Arena, spend some money. The time spent vs the payout is hilariously bad, even worse with the way the streaming of it is handled. The only hope is a sponsor or your twitch gets pumped.

I look forward to it, but I hate it for the players. I'd not watch, but I don't think that is going to help the prize pool situation.

We already have some top MDI players quitting, because investing their time into streaming other things is worth so much more money to them - Lightee I think made way more money in 3 days streaming PoE than he would even if he went and won the next four MDIs. He'd be stupid to put all the time and effort into the MDI when it doesn't pay anything close to serious amounts.

Blizzard is basically just exploiting people for publicity.

Maze bug twice for Does Gargoyle Stream must be embarrassing for blizzard trying to make this into a e-sport, so both teams will have to do it off stream now to see who gets the fastest time.
