Blizzard has announced that items obtained before Patch 9.0.5 will not be upgradeable with Valor Points.

This is correct.

You will not be able to upgrade items that dropped before patch 9.0.5.

While we have technical reasons for this, we also want to avoid the feeling that you should go through months of item history and stuff your bags and your bank in preparation for this.

In-game, items that can be upgraded will be clearly labeled as such.

Patch 9.0.5 PTR - Ve'nari Upgrades Capped to Season 1
Spatial Realignment Apparatus and Unbound Reality Fragment, item upgrades sold by Ve'nari for Stygia, have been capped to Shadowlands Season 1.
  • Spatial Realignment Apparatus - Use: Add a socket to a Shadowlands Season 1 item that does not already have one. Can be used on Helms, Necks, Bracers, Belts, or Rings.
  • Unbound Reality Fragment - Use: Discover an upgrade to a random Conduit from among your lowest item level Conduits, up to item level 226.

Turns out the hunch was good until blizz decided to exclude items looted before the patch because pretentious reasons.

    You're welcome.

    You want to say something?
So the hunch was never good as it never paid off in any way.

Top kek. I said it when people asked for it, I've got reason to say it again. Valor points were not some sort of Messiah in their original iteration, they weren't going to be now. At least they increased drop rates, that's a better bandaid fix.

No you don't. You don't have to do it all. You can CHOOSE to do it. I'm just laughing at all the people thinking they have to farm their whole set again. It's designed to replace the missing piece or two.

I don't understand the part where the 2 best upgrades of Venari are now "capped to season 1", can somebody explain it to me please ? Does that mean they won't get available in season 2 ? I am lost

yes... but where will the season 2 one come from? or is this being done purely because they dont want you to stockpile them? but cant you just stockpile the stygia anyway.

They don’t want you to stockpile Stygia or sockets for the new ilevel gear coming out. You will most likely have to farm more rep to get the new versions if past practice holds.

lol tiers aren't the same at all. If this was a new tier, that's different. But they are literally making gear obsolete BEFORE THE NEXT RAID RELEASES. Bro, you just have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

" Unbound Reality Fragment and Spatial Realignment Apparatus"

what the flying fuck is that.

These developers, imposed by Activision, have really taken the game to the next level of absurd.

How hard is it to keep the game on its spirit, what first made it ultra successful, instead of trying all this new nonsense systems.

Tiers are exactly the same unless you really want to convince me that raiding is all about "progression" and that is why people do old raids for gear still and not the latest raid with their catch up gear mechanic introduced that tier.

But hey, every guild clears every raid in the order since it's not a season, its progression, and no one just raids for current ilvl gear to compete in all end game levels of the game.../s

This isn't Vanilla anymore. Raids do not progress anymore. They are more seasonal than pvp even is, and you have no argument against that fact.

I was explicitly criticising the deal being done prior to all this information coming out, not the mount itself. Plus we know the deal isn't something limited to "holidays".

You can buy the mount without subbing for 6 months. Same as every other 6 month sub mount. But no one cares about facts, just mindless anti-blizzard hate circlejerk.

I thought it was pretty clear but I'll say it again I guess: Stop pretending you're able to speak on behalf of a meaningful portion of the playerbase. You don't. For the record, I don't like the change personally but pretending that Blizzard is doing this specifically to negatively impact gear hoarders and "increase playtime metrics" is some 10,000 IQ QAnon conspiracy theory-level mental gymnastics.

Season 2 will begin when a new raid tier comes out, somewhere around June/July. You won't be able to hoard styiga to add sockets to new items in season 2. This is basically Blizzard telling you to not waste your time farming stygia right now thinking your just going to add sockets to everything in 9.1.

Seasons are such a terrible concept for a MMO. A sorry excuse to invalidate everything prior and make players grind everything again in shorter intervals. Older MMO (and WoW) wasn't as extreme as it is now. Everything is weekly, capped, seasonal. And why? To make you play as long as possible. I have easily 6 hours a day for gaming, but I don't wanna spend a single minute in WoW because of this crap anymore. Nothing feels to last even 2 months anymore. catch up here, resets there. Progression does not feel meaningful at all. Resets are happening way too fast. I miss expansions being the only actual reset like it was in Classic and BC. Sadly I have played that content too much.. :/

    Blizzard:
New tier, grind all your gear again.

Players: Yay! I love new tiers and grinding my gear again.

Blizzard: New tier, but since we don't have tier anymore we're going to call it a season.

The same fucking players: WHAT THE FUCK BLIZZARD WHAT THE FUCK ARE SEASONS WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?! GIVE US TIER BACK NOW!!!!

I specifically pointed out vanilla/bc, yes Tier existed back then, but it also took longer between them and you actually had to progress through them and quite a few of older items were even viable in current Tier.

Yes, that's what this game needs: Endgame that less than 1% of its playerbase can see and attunements.

Do me a favor, would ya? TBC Classic is being announced in less than a week. Play that instead.

I also specifically mentioned that I have already played, both Classic and TBC extensively. What do you think did I do after MoP? Play WoD the mobile garrison manager? LOL

Increased drop rate won't change much. SL has much deeper problems than that.

The contents themselves are the problem, same system and endgame since Legion.

And Blizzard won't and can't fix that anytime sooner.

"I don't play the game and have no interest in playing the game but this is how I think the game should be designed."

You're free to share your opinion but please realize you're the last person Blizzard should listen to when designing the game.

So you’ve been hanging out on a forum for 7 years about a game you don’t play anymore?

    And making comments about it?

    Kinda creepy.
