The Burning Crusade Classic Beta Has Begun!

Players selected to participate in the beta test will receive an email invitation directing them to download the beta client directly from the Battle.net desktop app. As always, please be aware of phishing attempts—if you’re unsure whether your invitation is legitimate, please log in to your Battle.net account to verify that there is a Burning Crusade Classic beta license attached (under Your Game Accounts).

Getting Started

If you’ve been selected to participate in the beta test, your Battle.net account will already be flagged for access.

  • Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
  • Run the Battle.net desktop app—it may need to update itself if you haven’t run it recently. If you don’t have the app installed, get started here.
  • Once Battle.net is installed and updated, select World of Warcraft from the list of games.
  • In the Game Version drop-down menu above the Play button, choose the Burning Crusade (listed under In Development), then click Install.
  • Allow installation to complete, click Play and select any of the available Test Servers.
  • Create a new test character or copy over a character from your live WoW Classic account using the Copy Character button.
  • Enter the game and test the content.

If you have issues installing and operating the Burning Crusade beta, please check our Common Technical Issues and Solutions to begin troubleshooting.

Providing Feedback

We’d love to hear about your experiences in Burning Crusade Classic, so once you’ve had a chance to play, please send us your feedback on the Burning Crusade Classic beta forums.

  • PvP content is not available for testing at this time.
  • The use of third-party addons is disabled.

We will update this thread as we change the configuration of the test environment.

Does this mean EU invites are going out at the same time as US? Usually it feels like EU is lagging behind on these kinds of things.

I am guessing now that someone did the exact same thing as Blizzcononline and set the invites for a day earlier than intended.

FeelsBad, was probably one of the first to opt in (went and found the page before it was announced/linked anywhere) and no beta. I know it has nothing to do with how invites go out, but still.

Another streamer-focused invite. They do realize that's not working by now, right?

No beta club since 2007. Never had a beta invite to anything blizz related, been a hardcore paying player for 14 years.

    Sad.

Ah, a HOTS key i got aswell, but pretty late and if i remember correctly almost everyone got a key... Later.

Nothing funnier than watching pserver dudes who did nothing but shit on Blizzard for retail get invited.

I get it’s all about the hype, now.

So glad you felt the need to up your post count with such a salty diss on the game.

For a lot of us that are unsubbed and waiting for something in the gaming world to peak our interests TBC is it. I played the entirety of TBC and have wanted this way before Classic Vanilla was even a thing.

I do hope you get Beta so you can come back here and tell people you have it but you wont play "old garbage". Thanks for your meaningful contribution.

I think they've realized they can make more money by selling gold than subs. So why wouldn't they embrace the streamers who are generating hype for them.

Lol... everyone can opt-in. Anyone with the ability to think will understand that the first wave will go to VIPs and F&F. Just like they stated in their release...

I still don't understand what they need the Beta for

Yeah but its barely any opt ins compared to invited people, just like normal classic was. Its just a PR demo, nothing else.

The beta has begun, streamers, e-girls, and family members of employees have all been invited!

I didn't start getting beta invites until I was in a high-end guild ( < US 25th). Many of the folks I played with in those later guilds ended up with invites.

I haven't really played since mid-Firelands (even when I got beta access to the next 2 xpacs). I just came back now to start leveling up in classic for when TBC hits. I would love to see another beta invite for this one, but somehow I doubt it'll happen now.

Yeah, why do they need a Beta build to test an entirely new thing they've never done before? Blizzard should just be able to release the game in a 100% finished state with zero bugs with absolutely zero feedback from the actual millions of players who'd give them free QA. Duh!
