Players selected to participate in the beta test will receive an email invitation directing them to download the beta client directly from the Battle.net desktop app. As always, please be aware of phishing attempts—if you’re unsure whether your invitation is legitimate, please log in to your Battle.net account to verify that there is a Burning Crusade Classic beta license attached (under Your Game Accounts).

Getting Started

If you’ve been selected to participate in the beta test, your Battle.net account will already be flagged for access.

  • Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
  • Run the Battle.net desktop app—it may need to update itself if you haven’t run it recently. If you don’t have the app installed, get started here.
  • Once Battle.net is installed and updated, select World of Warcraft from the list of games.
  • In the Game Version drop-down menu above the Play button, choose the Burning Crusade (listed under In Development), then click Install.
  • Allow installation to complete, click Play and select any of the available Test Servers.
  • Create a new test character or copy over a character from your live WoW Classic account using the Copy Character button.
  • Enter the game and test the content.

If you have issues installing and operating the Burning Crusade beta, please check our Common Technical Issues and Solutions to begin troubleshooting.

Providing Feedback

We’d love to hear about your experiences in Burning Crusade Classic, so once you’ve had a chance to play, please send us your feedback on the Burning Crusade Classic beta forums.

  • PvP content is not available for testing at this time.
  • The use of third-party addons is disabled.

We will update this thread as we change the configuration of the test environment.

Im sure YOU will be able to find more bugs and bring in more hype than a streamer with several thousand viewers.

They are totally not inviting big streamers/content creators to build hype or anything.

    "Now." LOL.

Beta tests are purely a marketing scheme, and have been for the better part of a decade at the very least. That or testing things like server loads and capacity limits. They don't give a single, solitary fuck about any feedback unless it comes from their marketing department.

    Unironically yes.

Last time I recall getting beta invite was for MoP where it was guaranteed for those who bought the Annual Pass. Even then I was among the very last wave to get it. So, how about it Blizzard? For once?

So now that beta is released. Can we safely say that the launch is a good 3-4 months away? Give or take. I'm currently trying to level to 60 in classic before the launch and I want to know if I have time. Granted, I am dogshit at leveling, but still...

Just to be clear, I am currently level 37 in classic (been a new character for almost 3 weeks real time).

He won't generate a lot of hype, but beta tests shouldn't be about hype at all but about finding and fixing bugs. I highly doubt the big streamers will report a lot of them. Maybe they will at least try to exploit something and so it might be getting fixed if Blizzard watches that...

This is exactly what I thought lmao

Sometimes it feels like I'm not in on Blizzard's 4D chess joke, making betas for content they literally already fucking released over a decade ago. At this point I feel like these are just theatrics and free advertising.

Define hardcore, if you were doing high keys/CE raiding you'd have gotten beta invites every time.

It runs on a new client. Also reporting bugs/performance issues while your systems is out of date is obstruction.

Some people in this thread seem to be unaware that they are porting TBC over, in it's entirety, to the new, modern client.

There are going to be bugs.

Any techy person would understand. Techy people are the best for writing a constructive bug reports.

They released Burning Crusade over decade ago. Now they are releasing Classic: Burning Crusade.

The difference is in the engine. Classic TBC is based on Shadowlands. The same way Classic was based on Battle for Azeroth. They have modern client running old data of course they need to beta test it to some extent.

Betas are advertisment, does not matter what you think about it. Btw, they are advertisement due to one reason. The community. When the classic beta released, over 100k people watched Asmongold do Deadmines. Blizzard and asmon would be stupid to not try to profit of off that.

"I highly doubt the big streamers will report a lot of them". How many beta streams have you watched? Asmon literally brainstormed with thousands of viewers of what to test in classic beta, preach is submitting bugs all the time. Obviously if you watch a streamer that has already played for 1-2 weeks he will submit less bugs, because it becomes tedious, but they definetly do.
How do you compare not streaming people to streaming people, you literally have no idea how many bugs are submitted per person.

You guys all are just jelly, because you havent gotten an invite.

The funny part is that many who complain not getting into beta are also the type of "testers" to just /duel in front of SW/Org gates with their instant characters.

I don't want to test the Beta, since I don't have enough time to do it.

Maybe Beta tests are now marketing instruments of Blizzard and other gaming companies but the original definition is something else. And yeah I am sure a lot of non streamers getting invited will also only play and not really do testing.

How many will for example level up a character from 1 during BC beta?

Not that dueling can't be a way to test, but getting popular streamers into Beta test first is like a no brainer:

It's actually beneficial for the game, even if streamer haters don't admit it. Most streamers are very cautious on changes and are very vocal about about something they don't like, which has lead to changes to get game in the past.
Has shitton of time to play the game.
Has same capability on reporting bugs as normal person (potentially will report more, because of being in "public"/viewers can spot and point out more bugs)
    Creates hype about the game.
Does community events in beta tests, which gives a "smoke and mirrors" effect on what the game will be after the launch.
Different streamers have different communities with different interests and you can see how people react to something.

How much do I get paid for BETA testing?
If it's more or equal to 10 euros an hour (AFTER taxes) I might think about it.

    Hit me up in PM.
