The Great Push - New Mythic+ Tournament

We’re thrilled to announce details on our first competitive dungeon one-off tournament of the year. Welcome to The Great Push, coming May 28-30!

For over fourteen years, we’ve sought to explore new ways to push the limits of competitive World of Warcraft. With The Great Push, our first one-off tournament of the year, we are bringing a new style of competitive dungeon running distinct from the foundations set by the Mythic Dungeon International (MDI). Instead of teams fighting to beat their opponent’s time, The Great Push is focused on teams pushing keys as high as they can, striving to out survive their competitors and be crowned the champion!

How The Great Push Works

  • The Great Push stands separate from the MDI. Any team of five players can register for their shot at the $20,000 (USD) prize pool!
  • Teams will compete in the initial qualifier phase, the Proving Grounds, on May 22-23, where teams will be given two dungeon keystone combinations to push to the highest difficulty they can reach on the tournament realm.
  • The top six teams from the qualifier will be invited to the main tournament, where they will compete across the different Shadowlands Dungeons to push their keystones as high as possible.
  • The winning team will be the one who has the highest overall score for dungeons pushed and will be crowned the champion.
  • There are no pre-requisites required to play in the tournament, teams can sign up for The Great Push through May 17!

The tournament will be broadcast live on YouTube and Twitch, and players will also be able to stream their perspectives during the tournament, including their time in the Proving Grounds. You can choose to follow your favorite team and players, while keeping up with the casters for the overall standings throughout the weekend.

Looking Forward

Meanwhile, be sure to tune in to the MDI Global Finals where teams will battle for $300,000 USD on April 23-25, only on YouTube. With Season 1 featuring some of the hardest-fought dungeon runs imaginable, including the closest dungeon finish in MDI history, 2021 is gearing up to be the Mythic Dungeon International’s best year ever. Subscribe to the Warcraft YouTube and don’t forget to follow the WoW Esports Twitter, for the chilliest chills and dankest memes in all of Azeroth. We’ll see you in the Dungeon Finder!

Are you people really trying to justify your own disdain for this?

Why do you feel compelled to explain why you don't like this if you aren't going to participate it it/watch it/have anything to do with it?

We do not need to hear your internal monologue on why you people hate everything, no matter how dull the voice is.

Its a forum and this is the current discussion topic...Why did you feel the need to voice your own inner voice?

No discussion to be had when it's people shamelessly shitting on everybody else's opinions. The first 4 pages show this. Do not reply to me with nonsense.

There's no need to justify our opinions bud, that's the point. I could see maybe there being an argument if people were posting on non WoW forums, non gaming forums, random places etc about their disdain of WoW pushing balance based on failed esports. This is a post about mdi and any opinions on it are perfectly topical.

We don't need to hear you any more than you need to hear us.

p.s. - there is an ignore function, feel free to use it on anyone whose opinion you don't want to read, including mine (already ignored you so it's only fair!)

And no one needs to hear why people like it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Should the mods just remove the capability to comment?

Can you back that up with numbers? As far as I can tell, Activision Blizzard has more employees, more revenue, more equity and more assets than Valve. This is from their respective wiki sites. Where did you get that Valve is bigger?

Yeah, 30-120minutes blown up to multiple months is exactly the same as going from a 12 min encounter to 30-40 min experience.

Atleast in m+ I have a reason to push people forward. Nothing worse than a healer that need 10 seconds to find his water in his bags.

Unless you already play the game as your job (with sponsors and that shit) the amount of training required to place even decently is so far out there, the prize pool is pretty much a joke for any kind of competitive scene and won't really allow people to sustain themselves.

Esports themselves are great, for games where it works like CS:GO, Dota, LoL etc. It's good fun to watch for sure.

For WoW however it does more harm than good to the game itself and the viewcount for both the MDI and arena doesn't justify them ruining the game for everybody who isn't interested in either.

The response hasnt been great... but again the point of a forum is to have a place to voice opinions of the news. Its not good news it wont get good responses. We dont have to love everything they do, and we are justified in voicing our displeasure. Stop trying to gatekeep the forums.

You aren't reading what I wrote. It's not about people voicing their displeasure.

Nobody is invested in throwaway template characters on the tournament realm.
Well put, exactly my thoughts as well.

IF this wasn't happening, the money wouldn't be spent at all. Also, the money for this does not come from WoW's budget.

I will call out people who attack other's opinions by justifying it with their own opinions. It's not my problem you don't understand the difference.

People are justified in voicing their pleasure too. Your opinion is not the only one allowed here. Stop crapping on those that like things you don't.

if people want this great, have your say. We need voices from both sides if we want to see how accepted this action actually is. but just because you want is no reason to try to discredit the people who dont. were all valid.

Definitely at least a little more interesting than MDI. But let's be honest, the only PvE tournament that would be at all interesting to watch would have to be some kind of King of the Hill format, where random challeneges are thrown at the teams and they fight for who can survive the longest.
