WoW Classic Era Realm Connections Coming Next Week

This means that in each region/locale, we will create connected realms among groups of Classic Era PvP realms, or groups of Classic Era Normal realms, or Classic Era RP realms.

In North America, we will connect:
  • Anathema, Arcanite Reaper, Bigglesworth, Blaumeux, Fairbanks, Kurinnaxx, Rattlegore, Smolderweb, Thunderfury, and Whitemane
  • Arugal, Felstriker, and Yojamba
  • Ashkandi, Mankrik, Pagle, and Westfall
  • Atiesh, Azuresong, Myzrael, and Old Blanchy
  • Benediction, Faerlina, Heartseeker, Incendius, Netherwind, and Windseeker
  • Earthfury, Herod, Kirtonos, Kromcrush, Skeram, Stalagg, Sulfuras, and Thalnos

In Europe, we will connect:
  • Mirage Raceway, Nethergarde Keep, and Pyrewood Village
  • Ashbringer, Bloodfang, Dragonfang, Earthshaker, Gandling, Golemagg, Mograine, Noggenfogger, Skullflame, and Firemaw
  • Dreadmist, Flamelash, Judgement, Razorgore, Shazzrah, Stonespine, Ten Storms, and Gehennas

Our goal is to maximize the opportunities for Classic Era players to establish strong communities and carry on enjoying their way of play. We hope to see healthy populations of connected realms for Classic Era players, and we’ll continue to monitor and consider further connections in the future.

Thank you!

inb4 people whine about "cross realm" being in classic
even when the only other option would be dead ghost town servers

Well that didn't take very long at all

    so:

US West gets 1 PVE and 1 PVP and the lone US West RP-PVP Server
US East gets 1 PVE, 2 PVP, then the lone RP and RP-PVP server
Oceanic gets 1 PVE and 1 PVP
LA and Brazil only have 1 each already so...

Strangely enough, Windseeker is currently a PVE Server, connecting to the PVP Group. Wonder how that's going to work or if it was a typo on Blizzard's part

so, bloodsail buccaneers is going to be a ghost server i guess. being the only NA RP realm, doesnt look like its being paired with anything. sad.

Wait, is the population that low? I thought these servers will be the "main" timeline going into TBC with only a few opening for "perma vanilla" timeline. They seem to be merging extremely aggressively...

The servers as they are now will move on to tbc and stay exactly the same.
The copies of the realms that will remain classic era will be connected as only a small portion of players will remain behind on vanilla servers.

This is not about the TBC servers, This is about the servers staying classic.

Is there really a point in keeping classic servers without adding content updates to it?

This is great news. It will keep Classic servers alive for those who still want to play on it, the current servers will move onto TBC.

This is a good thing. Connecting roleplay servers to non-roleplay servers, or opening them up for incoming transfers off non-roleplay servers, has never been anything but a disaster. Look at Sisters of Elune: it was a medium-pop RP server with a small but close-knit RP community, but incoming transfers off Boulderfist and other PvP servers quickly ruined public RP and the constant harassment put enough pressure on the RP community that it ended up exploding over some comparatively minor drama over a weekly RP event (the Song and Tankard drama got personal fast and people started dredging up old grudges and beef that had once been considered long settled). I've checked back in on SoE a few times since a huge chunk of the RP community abandoned ship for Wyrmrest and Moon Guard, and it never really recovered.

I'd rather Classic Era Bloodsail Buccaneers be a small but close-knit server than it be overrun by people who think spamming "Same Shirt" in general is high-tier comedy.

You're saying they're merging the copies only not the main classic servers? This terminology is confusing af. I thought the current "classic" names will go into TBC and whoever doesn't go into TBC would "migrate" into new, perma classic server with a new name. So it's like... Ashbringer-TBC and Ashbringer-vanilla will be 2 different servers?

Afaik they tried to avoid having retail and classic servers with the same names, so I thought they would have different names with tbc / vanilla split too.

‘Classic Era’ servers refers to the servers not moving on to TBC.

Oh, I see, so every classic server will have "classic era" version and "tbc" version? Then yeah it doesn't make sense to leave a lot of vanilla ones I guess most classic players will choose primarily TBC.

Exactly. All severs will be duplicated into classic era and classic tbc with the classic era ones being connected.

I don’t think you quite understand why blizzard created classic servers to begin with.

So.....are they going to address the already barren or broken faction on TBC classic servers? will there be merges as well? seems absurd to not address it

This might be a stupid question; What happens if you have a Horde character on Golemagg and a Alliance Character on Mograine? Does that mean you can have both factions on each server now?

    Thanks in advance!
