Upon completing a quest contained within the "The Last Sigil" storyline, you’ll be rewarded with Memories of Sunless Skies. This consumable item allows all characters on your account with Expert Riding Skill to fly in Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth!

Read on to see what you can do right now to ensure you hit the ground running so you can start soaring in Chains of Domination.

Reach Renown Level 40
Your covenant is the wind beneath your wings, so you’ll need to prove your utmost loyalty to them by earning Renown Level 44 prior to lift off. Make sure that you are at or reach Renown Level 40 before Chains of Domination goes live, so that your efforts go directly into the levels that will become available with the content update.

If you’re struggling to reach Renown Level 40 prior to the release of Chains of Domination, note that when the content update goes live previous sources of Renown will grant more and at a higher rate than currently.

Complete Your Covenant Campaign
Before you unfurl your wings, you must progress through the chapters within the Chains of Domination campaign, specifically Chapter 4: "The Last Sigil." This chapter unlocks when you reach Renown Level 44, accessible within the second week of Chains of Domination. There are currently nine chapters to complete, and you can check your current progress by opening your Map & Quest Log (hotkey: l), where it will display on the top right of the active window.

Kyrian | Necrolord | Night Fae | Venthyr

If you are unable to complete all of the current chapters, you’ll be able to play through the newest storylines in Chains of Domination so long as you’ve finished your covenant’s introductory questlines and unlocked the Runecarver. You’ll still want to complete any of the skipped chapters when you can, as they are a reliable source of Renown which you’ll need to unlock the ability to fly and other coveted rewards.

Soar the Skies in Style
Your heroic deeds on the behalf of your covenant will also reward you with a mount fit for the most decorated covenant champions upon reaching Renown 45. Kyrian players will glide on the backs of the elysian aquilon, night fae will ride upon majestic wolf serpents, necrolords will charge into battle on corpseflies, and venthyr will take to the skies on newly awakened stoneborn.

Keep an eye on worldofwarcraft.com/news for more information on flying and the covenant mounts coming in the Chains of Domination content update, when you’ll be able to earn your wings and explore the Shadowlands from a whole new perspective.

It's so easy to get 40 renown at this point that if you're not at 40 then that's your problem.

But well played. I love the link to your armory. ilv 150 and renown 3. Look at me guys, I give no fucks.

If only you didn't have 20k achievement points. Not the schedule of somebody who doesn't have the time to reach renown 40.

But hey....maybe the people who are not renown 40 just do mythic+ and pvp and raids. So...hey...you actually don't even need flying. Everyone wins.
Please Det, no need to be this savage. He even logged in to get a +15 carry and got a nice 226 ring for his efforts. Clearly renown 40 is too tryhard. /s

Not sure what people are bitching about when it comes to renown. I play very casually, and the chars I play "actively" are all renown 40 except the one I switched covenant with, which was 40, and is now 37. And again, I play maybe 1-2 hours a day (weekdays at least, weekends maybe a bit more), if I play that day at all.

Feels like people are moaning for the sake of moaning.

Is there any suggestions about release dates? I've heard rumors of last week in June.

Dude I barely logged into my characters and I have renown 40 on each faction. I don't have maxed legendaries on all my toons, or all the best gear, but I have renown 40...

Dear god, you don't have to do anything to get to 40.

It's literally more difficult to *not* be renown 40 at this point in the game than it is to have it, if your characters have been 60 for more than a month.

You should be at 40 already. Tha tmeans you have two weeks of the weekly quets to get it. IF you are not 40 by now, that is on you and only you.

It takes around 30 minutes a WEEK to do the weeklies. Ther eis absolutely no excuse for you not being 40 now. People need to stop using this ignorant argument.

Cool that we can fly in the next patch.

There's just this little problem... when will it finally come out?

So if I come back, instead of walking around doing nothing, I can fly around doing nothing. Sweet dealio. Pass

I think last or last two ranks are doable only through weekly quests (I noticed Ion's character has renown 39 and he's 10/10M), but that's about it. Renown 1-38 basically falls from the sky on you when you do any current content.

Seems like at this point only 22th and 29th June are likely dates. Patch is almost finished, TBC hype is nothing like new expac, retail had no patch in 6 months, they won't pass on releasing patch during Q2.

Even if they did one of these a week they would be at 30 by now.

Second problem, if we can't fly in the Maw or between zones, is this even that much of a perk compared to getting flying in previous expansions?
I'm happy to gain flying, but the way this xpac and zones are designed it doesn't seem all that helpful. A flight whistle would almost be better.

They said they were doing this before SL release. Please be I formed before commenting.

Nah this is a new ban which started March 2021. 2018 he did something different

With the catch up mechanisms in place for Renown, the only way to not be Renown 40 today (or worse, by the time the patch comes out) and having finished the campaign, is if you haven't been playing the game at all. Even if you start your very first character today from level 1, you can get to level 60 and max Renown before the patch hits quite comfortably unless it gets surprise released within the next two weeks.

currently with catchups you can get to renown 40 in less than a week with no issues, if you want to nolife it its one weekend and you are done... if you cant be bothered to do that you dont need flying anyway as you dont play the goddamn game...
