Patch 10.1 PTR - Embers of Neltharion Campaign Chapters 1 and 2
Today we are taking a look at the first two chapters of the main campaign for Embers of Neltharion. There are a total of seven chapters in the main campaign. Keep in mind this is a work in progress, so things may change before release. *SPOILERS AHEAD*

Patch 10.1 PTR - Embers of Neltharion Campaign Chapter 1: A Creche Divided
  • The campaign opens with Ebyssian telling you to meet him at the Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken because Alexstrasza has news to share on the Primal Incarnates.
  • There, Wrathion and Sabellion have also joined for the meeting. Alexstrasza reveals that the Incarnates have attacked the Ohn'ahran border, and Iridikron has sent Fyrakk underground into Zaralek Caverns. She wants you and the Black Dragons to go stop Fyrakk.
  • Ebyssian says he is going to go request Emberthal's aid in the matter, and tells you to meet Sabellian and Wrathion at Cascades Canyon.
  • At the large crater in the ground, Wrathion is trying to appease a Shikaar Centaur huntsman to let them examine a pile of ash. Sabellian tells him to stop wasting time and focus on the hole in the ground.
  • Khasar recognizes you and stands down, allowing you to inspect the area. The ash pile is a fallen Centaur, Shakeel. You help bury them with their spear before joining the dragons.
  • Sabellian and Wrathion do not wish to wait for Ebyssian and fly down into the hole, telling you to join if you want. As you fly into the caves, there will be a cutscene showing you, Sabellian, and Wrathion reach the entrance, only to have Wrathion grab his head in pain.
  • Sabellian snaps him out of it, but the young dragon insists on pulling a Leeroy Jenkins. A Drogbar Primalist named Summitshaper Lorax and his earth elemental, Monstrous Mud, taunts him before running off, and Wrathion gives chase.
  • Your goal here is to assault the Primalist forces with the dragons raining down destruction from above. Wrathion keeps disobeying Sabellian's orders, and also flies down to help you engage named Primalists in his Visage form.
  • After pushing through several elemental forces, you attack the Drogbar head on. Upon victory, there will be a cutscene will shows you and the Black Dragons celebrating victory when Fyraak comes into view in the distance. He blasts you all with his new power, knocking all of you out.
  • Deepflayers capture and encase you in rock, but you are rescued by the mole-like Niffen named Elder Honeypelt. Completing this part of the quest gets you the Stone Breaker toy.

Patch 10.1 PTR - Embers of Neltharion Campaign Chapter 2: Breaking Ground
  • Elder Honeypelt agrees to help you find Sabellian and Wrathion, and she digs underground while you follow her, taking out Deepflayers along the way. She has to go to several area to sniff them out, but eventually finds Wrathion trapped in rock much like you were. You rescue him, then find Sabellian up ahead.
  • Sabellian scolds Wrathion for disobeying, stating that Neltharion would have never fallen to such a foe. Wrathion interrupts, saying that Sabellian is showing his true colors by comparing himself to daddy dearest. This triggers a realization from Sabellian, who says he recognized the relic they saw upon entering the caverns. He rushes off, leaving Wrathion in a huff.
  • Leaving the two dragons to their own devices, you speak to Elder Honeypelt, who asks you to slay the Deepflayer Broodmatron as repayment for the help, seeing as how the creatures constantly attack their caravans.
  • She has bait to use, and Wrathion wants to help. He says there is something in these caverns that is testing his mental defenses and worming through his mind. He will speak to Sabellian in his own time, and apologizes for the bickering.
  • You slay the creature, and Honeypelt pokes fun at Wrathion. He asks you to go speak to Sabellian on his behalf. There, the dragon shows you one of the relics he mentioned, and has a theory as to what they are and why they are causing the two Black Dragons' heads to swim. He tells to investigate more of them. He apologizes for his previous actions as well.
  • You find a dead Sundered Flame Scout near one, and activate it to hear Neltharion's voice stating that he can't let the experiment loose.
  • You return to Sabellian with parts that you find on broken relics, and he activates the one he is near. Neltharion again is heard through it, mentioning his laboratory, Aberrus, and stating that he hopes his kin never know what he attempted down here.
  • Sabellian says he has learned all he can here, and tells you to speak to Wrathion to have him join you both at Honeypelt's home called Loamm. He admits that while he thinks the dragon is a pest, he does actually care for him.
  • You find Wrathion still prepping the Broodmatron, and Honeypelt asks him to help her carry the carcass back to Loamm.
  • There, Sabellian fills Wrathion in on what you discovered. You then find out that Ebyssian and Emberthal are also in the village.
  • Before you can get started, however, Honeypelt has you get acquainted to Loamm. After trading with a few of the locals and investigating points of interest, you regroup with your companions.
  • Ebyssian states that the Niffen saw the eruption Fyraak caused in the cavern, and housed him and Emberthal while they waited for you. Sabellian fills Ebyssian in on what they discovered, and the two agree that the whispers are easier to control while they are in their Visage forms.
  • Emberthal knows Sarkareth and the Sundered Flame have come here because of Neltharion's secrets. Wrathion says he will quietly go search for Aberrus, and Sabellian suggests using Honeypelt as a guide.
  • Wrathion and Sabellian argue a bit again on who was rescued from the Deepflayers and who saved themselves, but Sabellian drops it as he sees it as pointless bickering.

  • Evoker

    • Beast Mastery

    • Marksmanship
      • All ability and pet damage reduced by 4%.
    • Survival
      • Mongoose Bite damage reduced by 10%. This does not affect PvP Combat.
  • Warlock
    • Developers’ notes: We’re modifying the output of Grimoire of Sacrifice to bring it in line with the output of Warlock demons. At the end of the day Warlock is a pet-centric class and while we want there to be an option to opt-out of your pet, we don’t want it to always be the clear answer.
    • Wrathful Minion now increases the damage of Grimoire of Sacrifice by 10% (was 15%).
    • Demonic Inspiration now increases the damage of Grimoire of Sacrifice by 10% (was 15%).
    • Grimoire of Sacrifice damage reduced by 15%.
    • Affliction
      • Developers’ notes: With the removal of less impactful talents in both their class and specialization trees, Affliction received a lot of additional damage options that have increased their damage beyond what was intended. We’re making these adjustments to bring them in line with other damage dealers.
      • Damage done by spells and abilities reduced by 2%.
      • Darkglare damage reduced by 20%.
    • Demonology
      • Developers’ notes: We’re targeting Demonology’s multi-target profile with these adjustments to bring them closer to other damage dealers. We will continue to watch both single-target and multi-target performance, along with the output of new talents and adjustments delivered in 10.0.7, and make further adjustments down the road if needed.
      • Demonic Strength now increases the damage of Felstorm by 300% (was 400%).
      • Dreadbite damage reduced by 10%.

    • Fixed an issue that allowed the Brazier of Madness to be lootable prior to completing Relics of a Fallen Empire.
  • Zul'Aman
    • Fixed an issue that allowed Bijous and Coins to drop in the instance.

Enemies and NPCs
  • Fael'lin
    • Hellfire Walls will now correctly display the cast bar.
    • Living Fuse will no longer target player's pets.

Items and Rewards
  • Fixed an issue where Primordial Stones were pulling enemies that you were not in combat with.

Player versus Player
  • Paladin
    • [Live March 24] Crusader’s Reprieve healing reduced by 50% in PvP combat.
    • Protection
      • [Live March 24] Judgment of Light healing reduced by 35% for Protection Paladins in PvP combat.
    • Retribution
      • Developers’ note: Retribution Paladins have been heavily overperforming in PvP with their recent 10.0.7 changes. We’re primarily targeting their burst damage, passive survivability, and PvP talents that we feel are contributing too much overall damage.
      • [Live March 24] Judgment of Light healing reduced by 35% for Retribution Paladins in PvP combat.
      • [Live March 24] Inquisitor’s Ire effectiveness reduced by 40% in PvP combat.
      • [Live March 24] Fading Light effectiveness reduced by 50% for Retribution Paladins in PvP combat.
      • [Live March 24] Justicar’s Vengeance now deals 15% additional damage to stunned targets in PvP combat.

      • [Live March 24] Lawbringer (PvP Talent) now deals 2% of maximum health (was 4%).
      • [Live March 24] Fixed an issue that caused Avenging Wrath’s 75% PvP multiplier to not function for Retribution Paladins.
  • Shaman
    • Precognition will no longer be activated when players are successfully interrupted while affected by Tranquil Air Totem.

Quests
  • "Brew for the Ages" should now correctly point to the Zskera Vault door to find the recipe pages, in case you have not unlocked that vault door yet.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic
  • Fixed an issue where Val'anyr, Hammer of the Ancient Kings was absorbing more than intended. Accumulated absorb amounts are now correctly capped at 20,000 health.
    • Developers' note: The absorb shield from Val'anyr was always intended to have a cap of 20,000 health, but there was a typo in the spell script in original Wrath of the Lich King version 3.3.5. The script was set the absorb amount to 200,000! This was never noticed by players in original Wrath.

Patch 10.0.7 - Primal Focus Reputation Exchange
In Patch 10.0.7, you can exchange some extra rewards with Azley in Valdrakken for a bit of reputation towards the four launch factions of Dragonflight. This is the Artisan's Consortium Goblin Vendor located near the Work Order area.

  • Primal Focus x2 can be exchanged for a 50 reputation token with any of the four factions.
  • Concentrated Primal Focus x1 can be exchanged for a 50 reputation token with any of the four factions.

Patch 10.1 PTR - Portable Altar of Decay
In Patch 10.1, Alchemists will be able to craft a personal Altar of Decay via Cauldron of Extracted Putrescence so that crafters don't have to clear the Brackenhide Hollow dungeon as often to craft their decay goods.

Blizzard Comments on the Work Order System in Patch 10.0.7
Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
It is great that people can now do Work Orders without their materials, but now we, the crafters, need to cooperate with Blizzard to apply a function of reporting obvious trickery and foul play.

We see a lot of Work Orders where it is just people hoping that the crafters press through the menu too fast without noticing that they accept that the customer has no useful materials of their own, nor is their tip befitting the cost.

We need management and reporting tools now for the Work Order system.

  • A function to sort who has materials, and who does not.
  • A function to sort for a minimum amount of materials needed (0%/25%/50%/75%/100%)
  • A function to disregard Primal Flux when making Work Orders (So customers cannot just drop X amount of flux to hope that is enough.
  • A function to report obvious attempt at trickery/foul play (Work orders where they just add 5 flux, 10g, and hope you use your materials by accident.

Thank you so much for the feedback! We are aware of the issue where you cannot easily differentiate orders that provide reagents from ones that cannot and are working on a fix to get the same sortable column into the public orders tab as exists in the guild / personal order tabs, where it tells you if all/some/none of the reagents are provided. This should allow you to easily sort and avoid orders that don’t provide all reagents if you so wish.

As far as orders that don’t include reagents and have a poor tip, while it is possible that some players are intentionally trying to deceive crafters into making recipes at a loss, in most cases it is likely a matter of customers learning the changes to the system and experimenting with what orders will get filled. We anticipate that with time, players will learn what orders they can get filled and which ones will not.

It is important to make sure crafters have all the information they need to avoid accidentally crafting something at a loss if they did not intend it. We do predict that in some instances crafters will intentionally choose to do this in cases where they can earn skill from doing so. That said, we will be carefully watching how this change works out. We are also looking into improving the clarity of the order interface to make sure it is as clear as possible which reagents are being provided by the customer and which by the crafter. Meanwhile, you will always get a confirmation dialogue if you are about to spend some of your own reagents on an order to make sure you are aware of what you are doing.

Finally, philosophically we made this change for a few reasons.

  • We would like to open the system up as much as possible to player choice and allow the market to help determine what orders are fulfilled and which ones are not.
  • The primary purpose of the public order system is to have a low barrier to entry for players to get their items crafted. Removing the need to buy your own reagents helps with that, although it does leave the onus on the customer to provide a reasonable commission. This is something we will also be keeping an eye on.
  • We would like to see more public orders to allow more crafters to have a chance to fill them. Lowering the barrier to post orders should help with this. As players learn the system, we are also hoping the ratio of orders that include an ample tip to be worth filling also increases. Finally, we have been looking at adding new recipes that provide opportunities to use the crafting order system, for instance the Curios released in the latest patch.
  • To this point, filling public orders has required very little consideration, particularly if there aren’t many, because it was guaranteed profit as all reagents were provided by the customer (this section was slightly clarified through an edit). With the introduction of variations in reagents, the choice of whether to fill an order or not will hopefully become more interesting, where crafters are weighing costs of reagents and skill gains against potential profits or losses from filling the order.

Finally, while this thread has not mentioned the prospect of allowing public orders to specify quality, I have seen other posts that have. I want to re-emphasize that the reason we are not doing this is were we to, nearly all orders would move to be public, and most if not all would be set to require maximum quality. This would remove the opportunity for lowers skill crafters to fulfill public orders, as well as undermine the crafter gameplay and interaction that comes from building a business and getting customers to send you orders.

Thanks and as mentioned above, we will continue to watch how the crafting order system unfolds and iterate. Your feedback is always appreciated!

No Mats; No Make Addon
While Blizzard has acknowledged the issue of differentiating work orders that provide reagents from those that do not, it may take some time for the developers to iterate on the system and implement an appropriate fix.

As a temporary workaround, a new addon called "No Mats; No Make" has been developed to add the Reagent Column in public work orders (similar to how it is already displayed in the guild and personal work order tabs). While using the addon, each request will show whether it includes "All", "Some" or "None" of the reagents required to craft the item, without having to click on each work order to see the details.
