Don Your Holiday Apparel—The Feast of Winter Veil Has Begun!

Winter Veil has begun in Azeroth, and with it come all the fripperies, fineries, and delectable comestibles of the holiday.

When: December 16 – January 2
Where: Initial holiday quests can be found in Orgrimmar and Ironforge, but festive decorations can be found throughout the world.

New this year!

Take a magical sleigh ride with your friends over Orgrimmar or Ironforge! Don’t forget to take a S.E.L.F.I.E. to preserve the moment!

Stop by the Smokeywoods Pastures cart in Ironforge or Orgrimmar and click on Greatfeather Pepe to obtain A Tiny Winter Hat. When you summon Pepe to join you on your adventures, he may just show up in the perfect Winter Veil outfit complete with a tiny beard.

Festive Favorites
Let your spirit be light by stepping into one of the Giant Snow Globes* found outside of the Ironforge Bank, in Orgrimmar overlooking the Valley of Wisdom, or in the Broken Isles in Dalaran. It’s a truly transformative experience letting your inner Greatfather Winter helper out. A little /dance will spread the joy to those around you.**

The Abominable Greench is (still) a mean one, but we’re sure that once you’ve filled up on the fine foods and beverages from Smokywood Pastures, you’re bound to put a stop to his reign of terror in the Hillsbrad Foothills. The quest You’re a Mean One… is now available to players level 60 and up.

There are plenty of holiday hats to be found on a variety of bosses from dungeons in the Broken Isles, Northrend, and more. You just need to decide which color hat you want. Will it be green or red?

Make sure to check in on December 25 to see what presents Greatfather Winter has left for you.

Learn more of what the Feast of Winter Veil has to offer in Wowhead’s holiday guide and in WoW Pet Guide.

*May experience some shrinkage with use.
**Please /dance responsibly. Side effects include joy and laughter. Wait at least 30 minutes after eating Smokywood Pastures fine festive foods to avoid unpleasant side effects.

Feast of Winter Veil 2019
Winter Veil is live from today until January 2nd.

Patch 8.3 PTR - Black Empire Campaign Part 2 - Unlocking Rajani Reputation and Vale of Eternal Blossom Assaults
You can see the first part of the campaign here.

  • Click here for our coverage of Part 1 of this quest chain!
  • Completing the events of Part 1 gives you the quest "Forging Onward" which has you return to Magni in the Chamber of Heart. This will award you with the Token of Death's Door essence. You find out that the Forge was not damaged beyond repair, but its operating at a reduced capacity. MOTHER suggests that you reroute power from compatible titan facilities. Magni is unsure which ones to use, and she she says the Engine of Nalak'sha is compatible. You get the quest "It's Never Easy" and are told to meet Magni outside Mogu'Shan Vaults.
  • When you arrive, a Mogu Warrior seems to have been fighting off Mantid and requests to have words with Magni. Before he can explain that the Mantid are causing trouble, he succumbs to his wounds and a few Mantid led by Amber-shaper Gokilak arrives. He exclaims that the vaults now belong to the Mantid before attacking. Upon his death, Magni seems discouraged, and the Mogu tells us to find his clan before dying.
  • You then get the quest "The Mysterious Sigil" from the dead Mogu's corpse. He had a sigil on his body that is a symbol of the clan he belongs to. You are then tasked with bringing it to Lorewalker Cho in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
  • When you talk to Cho, he gives the quest "Clans of the Mogu" and is interested in discovering more about a Mogu clan that isn't hostile. He explains that after the fall of the Thunder King, many mogu clans began warring for dominance and new clans arose from the ashes. He tells you to begin your search by inspecting his book "The Serpent Masters."
  • He recalls that many believe the Zan-Tien clan to be the dominant one, but cannot find anything about the sigil. You then look into his "Power Through Blood" book to find more information about the Dokani clan, but there is still no link to the sigil. Next, you look through "Will of Stone" to learn about the Baruk clan, but still no sigil to be found. He wants to try one more tome called "The Origins of the Mogu."
  • From this tome, you learn of the Rajani clan who served Ra-den, and the sigil matches! Cho says the clan must have been resurrected and gives the quest "Finding the Rajani" and tasked with getting a Mogu Scouting Report from one of the mogu in the vale.
  • Upon returning with the report, you find that the Rajani are at the Silent Sanctuary and are given the quest "Time-Lost Warriors" and sent to them.
  • You are told to leave by Stormspeaker Qian when you arrive, but show him the sigil and he is saddened to hear Tsuo failed in his mission and walk with him, in which another "awesome in-game event" takes place and you are presented to Ra-den, who is lost in hopelessness. The mogu haven't been able to reach him from thinking we are only delaying the inevitable. You request his aid, but he doesn't believe we can defeat the old gods with the Pantheon gone. You are given the quest "Proof of Tenacity" from Stormspeaker Qian and are tasked with bringing a Trophy of the Black Empire from completing an assault in the Vale. This unlocks the Rajani Reputation faction and their dailies.
  • Bringing the trophy to Ra-den has him explain that Azeroth's enemies are innumerable and sooner or later the scales will tip against it...but he has been mistaken before. He tells you that all the titan facilities in Pandaria are connected and about a secret passage under Mogu'Shan Palace that leads to the Engine of Nalak'sha with the quest "The Engine of Nalak'sha."
  • You and Magni enter the Palace and you must complete a scenario, working your way through the dungeon killing Mogu statues come to life and dodging traps to reach a switch. When you get below, you have to open a door with a statue, and then kill Mantid and destroy manifestations of N'Zoth.
  • Cleansing the manifestations has N'Zoth invade your mind once again, exclaiming "Do you feel the frenzy of the swarm? They know what is coming. They know you will be its herald. Magni once again brings you back to your senses and you proceed further, killing Swarmguard Kraz and eventually an old god creature named Yox'ith. Magni then starts up the Engine and you connect remotely to MOTHER, eventually rerouting power to the Forge of Origination. Magni also says he finds something in the archives that could turn the tide against N'Zoth, and you head back to Ra-den via a portal nearby.
  • There, Magni and Ra-den discuss what Magni found, which is that the mogu have learned how to focus the Forge of Origination's energies without re-originating the entire world. Ra-den wants to observe this himself, and gives you the quest "Restored Hope". Ra-den accompanies you to the Heart Chamber and teleports you there. You also receive either Death-Resistant Leaf or Focused Star Point for completing this quest.
  • Ra-den mentions that he was unaware of this chamber, but it looks to be of Archaedas's making. MOTHER states that the knowledge of the chamber was restricted to sigma-level clearance, and proximity to the world soul requires additional safeguards. Magni says they only discovered it because Azeroth herself showed him, then gives you the quest "Magni's Findings." They all then discuss how it is possible to execute the Origination Protocol via remote triangulation, but we would need to place anchors close to N'Zoth himself. Ra-den mentions anyone setting foot in the heart of the Black Empire would go mad, and Wrathion says to leave the problem of Ny'alotha to him.
  • You are given the quest"Power Protocol Initiation" and told to relay power from the Chamber of Heart, Engine of Nalak'sha, and Forge of Origination auxiliary systems, then speak with MOTHER to power up the Forge of Origination. However, there is an anomaly that Magni asks you to investigate in Uldum with him with the quest "Re-Origination."
  • Part 3 Preview Coming Soon!

Below is a list of known issues for WoW Classic patch 1.13.3. Please note that this list is not comprehensive and is not a complete depiction of what we’re aware of, but a sampling of issues we believe players may encounter with some regularity. We hope to have fixes to these issues in place soon, but we cannot promise when or if any individual bug will be fixed.

  • Battlegrounds
    • Alterac Valley: The Frostwolf Battle Standard and Stormpike Battle Standard are currently using models that do not match Original WoW
    • Warsong Gulch: The particle effects projected from the Alliance Flag are too bright
  • User Interface
    • The “Toggle Keyring” option is missing from the Keybinds menu
    • The Oozeling’s Disgusting Aura does not display a debuff in the character’s debuff tray
  • System Settings
    • Certain PCs may incorrectly default to integrated graphics adapters
      • Workaround: Open the System Menu via the Escape key and select System -> Advanced -> Graphics Card and select the correct GPU

Lastly, please also note that we do not list any issues here that we are aware of that could be considered exploitative, and as per the forums Code of Conduct, we would ask you not to post information in this forum about any potential exploits that you have discovered. If you believe you’ve found an exploit, please email hacks@blizzard.com directly with the relevant details.

Thank you!

We’re working on a hotfix for this issue. After the hotfix is applied and certain servers are restarted, we’re going to try to modify your mail so that anyone who has these will not be able to carry them over into the next week.

And going forward, new Marks of Honor in the mail will have a 24-hour expiration.

Thank you for the report! (Official Forums)

Runeblade of Baron Rivendare
I wanted to take a second and clear up any misconceptions about the nature of this bug fix. The Runeblade of Baron Rivendare neither scaled with +healing nor snapshotted any +healing effects in Original WoW or the 1.12 Reference client. This behavior was a bug that was introduced into WoW Classic. As such, the fix that went into 1.13.3 that removed the +healing benefit and snapshotting restored this item to it’s original 1.12 state.

As this bug is now resolved we will be closing this thread now. As always, thank you for your reports and analysis! (Official Forums)

Step into the Firelands During Cataclysm Timewalking

The Firelands is the molten domain forged by the titans to house Ragnaros and his wayward minions. Following Deathwing’s emergence into Azeroth, Ragnaros and his servants surged onto the slopes of Mount Hyjal before being driven back by the sacred mountain’s valiant defenders. Now Ragnaros is rallying his loyalists to defend the Firelands from Azeroth’s champions.

When: The Firelands raid is available throughout the Cataclysm Timewalking event.
Difficulty: The difficulty is set to Normal and, like any Normal level raid, will not be available through Raid Finder.
Minimum Level: Players level 86 and above are eligible to participate.
Bosses: (7) Beth’tilac, Lord Rhyolith, Alysrazor, Shannox, Baleroc, the Gatekeeper, Majordomo Staghelm, Ragnaros

During Cataclysm Timewalking, you can assemble a raid group of between 1 and 30 players to step into the molten domain of Ragnaros. Don’t have a regular group? The Group Finder (I) can help. Create your own group in the Premade Groups section or search for like-minded adventurers.

Dungeons in Cataclysm Timewalking
Grim Batol
Don’t be fooled by Grim Batol’s humble exterior; many of this mountain fortress’s desecrated chambers are buried deep in the Twilight Highlands. Once the stronghold of the Wildhammer dwarves, and later seized by orcs as a prison for Alexstrasza, the city is now in the clutches of the Twilight’s Hammer cult.

The Stonecore
Within the Temple of Earth, locked in the heart of Deepholm, lies the Stonecore. It was inside these caverns that the Twilight’s Hammer toiled over Deathwing, hammering elementium plates to the Dragon Aspect’s body in an attempt to hold his tormented form together. With his renewal complete, Deathwing ascended into Azeroth, shattering the World Pillar and destabilizing the region of Deepholm.

Lost City of theTol’vir
The Lost City of the Tol’vir is the stronghold of the Neferset, a faction of the cat-like tol’vir who swore fealty to Deathwing in exchange for a cure to the curse of flesh, which had turned their rocky hides to soft skin. With the affliction expunged, the tol’vir have rebelled against the benefactor, although they remain irrevocably twisted and hostile due to the dark pact they made.

The Vortex Pinnacle
The Vortex Pinnacle exists within the elemental plane of Skywall. Its elegant structures, crowned with bronze and gold, sit atop platforms bridged by pure air. Yet behind its exterior beauty, the pinnacle harbors Neferset tol’vir, as well as Al’Akir the Windlord’s merciless elemental legions. As long as the barrier between Skywall and Azeroth remains open, terror will rain down on Uldum from the skies.

Throne of the Tides
Deep within the Abyssal Maw’s fathomless expanses lies the Throne of the Tides. From here, the great elemental lord Neptulon the Tidehunter has surveyed and protected his aquatic domain for ages. He now faces his greatest challenge as a force of serpentine naga and malefic faceless ones threaten to depose him, leaving his realm and its secrets ripe for the plundering.

End Time
One of an infinite number of potential outcomes, this timeway depicts the desolate future of Azeroth should Deathwing fail to be stopped. Nozdormu has identified a powerful anomaly that exists in this moment and bars access to the past—and hope of retrieving the Demon Soul. The powerful creature from out of time lives alone amidst the time-twisted echoes of the past.

Just the Facts
Your character and items will be scaled down to a power level fitting for the challenge at hand, but bosses will yield loot appropriate for your regular level. Timewalking dungeons also have a chance to drop items that usually drop when you run them on Heroic, and you’ll earn reputation with a faction that is interested in the dungeon. For example, when you Timewalk through The Stonecore, Slabhide could drop the Reins of the Vitreous Stone Drake mount for you.

Look for the following all week long: Chronicler Shoopa in Zuldazar and Chronicler Toopa in Boralus have a quest for you. You can also start the quest from within the Adventure Guide (Shift- J).
Quest Requirement: Complete 5 Timewalking dungeons.
Rewards: Artifact Power and one loot box containing a piece of gear from Normal difficulty The Eternal Palace.

Every Week
The Bonus Events system consists of a rotating schedule of different activities, currently scheduled to run each week beginning on Tuesdays. Each Bonus Event grants a passive bonus to a particular game activity and offers a once-per-event quest with a noteworthy reward for accomplishing a related goal. The in-game calendar can serve as your one-stop reference for the event schedule. The Adventure Guide also offers a direct link to active Bonus Events, allowing you to easily accept any associated quests.

Raid Testing Schedule - December 13th - December 16th

The Prophet Skitra - Mythic Ny’alotha, the Waking City
13:00 PST (16:00 EST, 22:00 CET)
Halls of Devotion - Looking for Raid Ny’alotha, the Waking City
14:00 PST (17:00 EST, 23:00 CET)

As always, this testing schedule is very fluid and subject to the realities of a test environment. We might have to change the time of a testing session, change the bosses being tested, or cancel a test entirely, due to bugs, server hardware issues, etc. Keep an eye on this forum for the latest information, and thank you in advance for testing and providing feedback.

Q: How do I get into the raid zone?
A: In Zuldazar, Boralus, Dalaran, Orgrimmar, or Stormwind, you may speak to Nexus-Lord Donjon Rade III in order to teleport into the raid zone while it is open for testing. (The option to teleport into a zone will not be available when the zone is not open for testing.)
Q: What character should I use to test the raid?
A: Whichever you prefer. We will be scaling players’ effective level to 120 for raid testing, and their item level to an appropriate threshold for the encounter(s) being tested.
Q: How long does testing last?
A: The primary purpose of testing is to give us the information we need to balance the encounters, evaluate how mechanics are playing out in practice, and identify bugs. Once we’re satisfied that we’ve received that information for a given boss, we’ll be shutting down testing. Usually this takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, but there are no guarantees.

WoW Classic - Warsong Gulch Vendors

  • Warsong Gulch vendor lists only appear when you have the required reputation. You should see the text “What items have I earned the right to purchase?” and, when you’re Neutral with your WSG faction, you should find that you don’t have the right to purchase anything.
  • Warsong Gulch vendors will only sell items from their original list of consumables (and one tabard) for now.
  • Additional items that were added to original WoW in patch 1.6 will become available when Blackwing Lair opens in 2020.

See you in the flag room!

Warsong Gulch
Test your teamwork in this 10v10 capture-the-flag Battleground. The first team to capture three of the opposing team’s flags wins the match and earns Honor toward their PvP ranking.

To join the Battleground, you’ll need to be at least level 10 and visit the Battlemaster in one of the capital cities to queue or, if you’re feeling adventurous, travel to the Battleground in the Northern Barrens (for the Horde) or Ashenvale (for the Alliance).

You’ll be matched up with other players within a specific level bracket as follows:

  • 10–19
  • 20–29
  • 30–39
  • 40–49
  • 50–59
  • 60

Check out Wowhead’s complete guide for tips and strategies to help you and your team make the most of your time in this classic Battleground.

Alterac Valley
Step into Alterac Valley and prepare to engage in a battle for every square meter across this Battleground. You’ll need to coordinate with your team in a 40v40 grudge match to see who will come out on top.

To queue for this Battleground, you’ll need to be at least level 51 at the Battlemasters within the capital cities or head out into Alterac Mountains to queue up there.

You and your team will need to coordinate to complete PvE and PvP objectives to win. You’ll control key locations such as mines, towers, and graveyards, which will help you push further into the map toward the main objective—the opposite faction’s general—Vanndar Stormpike for the Alliance or Drek’Thar for the Horde. You can make this task easier for you and your team by destroying enemy towers and killing the elites guarding the generals.

You’ll also be able to turn in resources that can be looted from mobs and players that can be turned in to gain additional bonuses and aid to your side’s cause of crushing the enemy.

Earning reputation within this Battleground for the Stormpike Guard of the Alliance or Frostwolf Clan for the Horde will open up access to new rewards. You can also gain additional reputation by undertaking a variety of quests within the Battleground.
