Patch 6.2 - Warlock Demon Models
It looks like Warlocks will be getting the updated versions of the demon models we posted yesterday, as well as the Voidlord. Keep in mind that the creature that looks similar to a Felhunter in that post is not actually a Felhunter.

General Changes

Raids and Dungeons
Personal Loot Mode Improvements
  • Increased overall drop rates on Personal Loot mode and defeating a boss now awards a fixed number of items based on eligible group size.
    • Example: For a party of five players, Dungeon bosses are now guaranteed to drop at least 1 item with a chance for 2 items to drop. The final boss of the Dungeon will now drop 2 items with a chance for 3 items to drop.
  • The raid or party now sees when someone in the group wins an item on Personal Loot.
  • The last Dungeon boss on non-Personal Loot mode received an adjustment and now drops 2 items (down from 3 items).

Highmaul and Blackrock Foundry Changes
  • A raid-wide debuff has been added to reduce damage dealt by all creatures and NPCs in Highmaul and Blackrock Foundry on Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulty.
  • The achievements, Ahead of the Curve: Imperator's Fall and Ahead of the Curve: Blackhand's Crucible are no longer obtainable.

  • New recipes for mass milling of Draenor herbs have been added, allowing 20 herbs to be milled at once.

General Item Changes
  • New zoning laws prevent the placement of temporary tents created via Leatherworking in capital cities.

Bug Fixes
  • Scholomance: Defeating Instructor Chillheart too quickly should no longer cause ice barriers on the stairs to continue to deal damage after the encounter.

  • Prismatic Crystal is now also attackable by the Mage's pets or guardians.

  • Lava Surge now lasts for 10 seconds (up from 6 seconds).

Upcoming Live Q&A with Ion Hazzikostas

We'll be sharing more information, including how to submit your questions, in a full announcement on Monday, but wanted to give the community as much advance notice as possible regarding the date and time of this upcoming Q&A. We'll see you there!

The question is will he be answering real questions or just give us more fluff as usual?
If Tough Questions doesn't mean actual Tough Questions, you have every right to yell at me on twitter/IRL. (Muffinus)
Appreciate the response. I really hope we can get some clarity. Lots of trust lost recently by the fans. Makes me sad, really.
Really it's not for a lack of not hearing you. Flight, endgame content, getting out of garrisons, pvp, all good feedback. (Muffinus)

"Tough" pre-approved questions. Give me, and the player base a break. It's all a PR stunt.
Lots of people have lots of legitimate questions about 6.2 & we'd like to spend some time addressing them. (CM_Zarhym)

Character / Items
that weapon even though casters can obtain a 710 (example) from Archimonde? Is this correct?
Typically, soon after a caster gets a 705 from Normal Archimonde, a shaman will have access to a 705 from Heroic Kormrok. (WarcraftDevs)

Concern rewarding the ilvl rampup in HFC: wont the loot from the first bosses become obsolete when the raid is on farm?
We’re adding quests to unlock shortcuts that will allow raids to skip ahead if desired once they’ve cleared a few times. (WarcraftDevs)

hi, will the Ironhoof Destroyer mount still drop (100% drop rate) from blackhand mythic when Patch 6.2 goes live?
Yes. We typically wait to reduce end-boss mount drop rates until a new expansion arrives. (WarcraftDevs)

Will ilevels in mythic be scaled down like challenge mode dungeons are?
No, all your items will work as they would anywhere else. (WarcraftDevs)

It seems that mythic dungeon bosses can be bonus-rollable, can't they? If yes, with the new coin or the old one?
Yes. The new Seals of Inevitable Fate will allow for bonus rolls on Mythic dungeon bosses. (WarcraftDevs)

I still have a blue +10 frost resist cloak from when Lokholar dropped loot on like week 1 #LFGKorrak #AlteracValley #He'sEvadingAgain (Muffinus)
I thought I was crazy for thinking AV used to drop loot back in the day!
Guess what is a bad idea? Incentivizing your opponent to kill you to make big bosses you can loot #EmergentGameplay (Muffinus)
I prefer that design to the one incentivizing your opponent to actively avoid you
Not going to disagree with you, I miss the 24-hour battles sometimes. Did you like WG/TB/Ashran better? (Muffinus)

With loot scaling with progress, will the garrison cache also limit to the next boss only? #Warcraft
No, the mission cache can contain items from any boss in that difficulty. (WarcraftDevs)

League of Legends - Automated Player Bans
Riot activated a new system last week that handles toxic behavior automatically.

With that in mind, we’re building and iterating on a new instant feedback system that delivers actionable feedback and appropriate punishment to players that need it most. In the future, we expect instant feedback to take on rewards as well, but in step one we’re focused on reform-oriented feedback and punishment.

The system’s initial tests kick off today in NA and take aim at verbal harassment. The system delivers reform cards (notifications that link evidence of negative behavior with the appropriate punishment) that help players address their negative behavior. Your reports help the instant feedback system understand and punish the kind of verbal harassment the community actively rejects: homophobia, racism, sexism, death threats, and other forms of excessive abuse. These harmful communications will be punished with two-week or permanent bans within fifteen minutes of game’s end. Here’s how it works:

  • Teammates or opponents of the offending player send reports and the system validates them to make sure they aren’t false
  • The system examines the case and determines whether the behavior deserves rejection or punishment based on community-driven standards of behavior
  • The system fires a reform card through email, sharing the chat log of the offending player (we scrub other players’ names and chat logs) and the punishment for the behavior

The player behavior team will be on deck, hand-reviewing the first few thousand cases the instant feedback system sorts through. If the test goes smoothly, we expect instant feedback to roll out to all regions shortly. Like we mentioned up top, this test marks the beginning for instant feedback. Upgrades will allow it to shoulder more reform and punishment responsibilities and even reward positive play. Here’s a peek at where we’re headed:

  • In-client reform cards
  • Follow-up notifications for players who reported a player who was punished
  • Upgrades for chat and ranked restrictions
  • Upgrades to recognize negative gameplay behaviors like intentional feeding
  • Recognition of honors and rewards for positive behaviors and communication

We’ll hang around the comments to answer questions and hear your feedback. We’ll come back soon to share more about the vision for player behavior, including plans for the Tribunal.

I really think this is going down the wrong path. Having it weight the words said differently isn't a positive feature. Vocabulary doesn't efficiently correlate to negativity, and often the most innocuous words are the most negative. Gg easy is far more infuriating and negative than getting called a fag ever was. I hope efforts are put forth to try and actually curb negative behavior, not just try and punish people for saying naughty words. We're not children here. Remove the afks, the feeders, and the incessant negative players. Don't try and police language.
The system does not just look at words, and tries to learn phrases. In fact, "gg easy" is considered a very negative phrase by the system today.

Secondly, we do have testing in place for the system to identify and punish intentional feeders and other forms of gameplay toxicity.

Lyte how do you plan on solving False Positives? Especially when it's done automatically, and within 15 minutes of a game ending, there are sure to be issues. Do you have a certain criteria that they need to fill to get automatically banned/perma-banned?
The system analyzes in-game data like chat logs, and then assesses reports and tries to "validate" the reports. In addition, every report and honor in the game is teaching the system about behaviors and what looks OK or not OK, so the system continuously learns over time. If a player shows excessive hate speech (homophobia, sexism, racism, death threats, so on) the system might hand out a permanent ban to the player for just 1 game. But, this is pretty rare!

In terms of false positives, we recently flew in Player Support and Player Behavior team members from all around the world to hand-review thousands of chat logs, and we saw false positive rates in the 1 in 6000 range. So, we know the system isn't perfect, but we think the accuracy is good enough to launch.

Understood. While I can't offer much for discussion, hopefully it's a small comfort that at least their posts are read/voices heard. (Muffinus)

Mr. Feasel, ask yourself why you disagree that much with many of your players. Do you still think you adress them?
I may not disagree with you at all. I don't make all of the decisions (Muffinus)

Thanks again for the continued feedback. Still here, still listening, (Muffinus)
"Thanks for the feedback" is becoming the wowdev version of "umadbro"
If I didn't want people to continue providing feedback, I wouldn't have posted anything at all (Muffinus)
feedback is useful with two-sided communication, and you (as a team) are still too quiet
I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I think it's important to note that I'm reading all of the responses. (Muffinus)
Would be nice to get the actual reasoning behind decisions instead of snark. A good start is "I'll mention it next meeting."
I never take a piece of feedback lightly. Every Voice Matters. However, I can't talk about internal goings-on. Apologies. (Muffinus)
Sometimes seeing "I hear everything" feels impersonal. Maybe see if you can get a public facing response to some "no" decisions?)
Usually the next product or patch addresses issues, we live in interesting times with instant communication. (Muffinus)

If you're going to announce a major feature being removed indefinitely, an interview isn't the place. Perhaps the main website?
Curious why you feel that way. An interview on a major press site will likely be seen by more players. (CM_Lore)

you realize most of the post has turned into just flaming you guys because months of real feedback was ignored right?
There is a massive difference between "ignored" and "disagreed with." (CM_Lore)

Iron Man Challenge Stats
I have a few convoluted ways of detecting whether a character has equipped certain restricted gear for the Iron Man challenge, however, I would love to be able to just look at their statistics at a character level
Done. Check out the next PTR build - there should be visible character-specific statistics available to track this information. (Official Forums)

I think the biggest challenges for an idea like this are a) would it be interesting enough to keep playing, and b) would there be enough sustained interest from other players to make the world feel alive. I could easily see the outcome being people logging in, going "wow the game is so much better now," and logging out. (CM_Lore)
IMO seeing how popular uh "theoretical" vanilla servers seem to be, I would say there is at least some demand.
Sure, there's definitely interest, even internally. We just don't think there's enough to offset the costs. (CM_Lore)
Personally, I'd 100% expect it to be something almost everyone just pokes at for a week or two and then drops. (CM_Lore)
Not really an effective use of time for devs who could be working on any number of features for the live game. (CM_Lore)
Speaking for myself, I'd love to go back and poke at classic. I just don't think I'd play it for long. (CM_Lore)
Or, the devs could just 'go back to the core roots', as it were. Yep, especially the class designs, every class used to be fun, but in WoD.
If that's the case, I think we'd rather focus on fixing the modern game. (CM_Lore)

Thanks. I figure at least then players can argue whether we aren't hitting our goals or if the goals themselves are bad. (OccupyGStreet)

We miss you dearly GC. @WatcherDev and his team are alienating @Warcraft players with their hubris.
Whether you like every decision or not, I am confident they have your best interests in mind. (OccupyGStreet)

Game Design
If I was going to make an MMO (I'm not) I think I'd shoot for something episodic with the expectation players come and go. (OccupyGStreet)
How does the social aspect play into that, though? Sounds like it would be hell on guilds.
I agree, but I think players are episodic already so the business model might as well be. Social hard either way. (OccupyGStreet)
Was there ever a time where that wasn't the case? Is it a more prominent problem today versus 2007?
I *think* so (?). A lot of games, LoL among them, are huge. They try to be the only game you need. (OccupyGStreet)
Which means ironically we tend to drop games as soon as we hit diminishing returns b/c there is so much else out there. (OccupyGStreet)

What you say you prefer and what you actually did ended complete opposite.
I was a lead designer not a dictator. (OccupyGStreet)

It stopped being fun when my hunter was mocked for not pulling over 100k dps. That was a year ago. #NoEpeen
I wish we had been more progressive about trying to curb bad behavior. (OccupyGStreet)
I wish so, too. I would never raid because of all the bs. But i have some awesome rare hunter pets
One secret is to turn off chat (in any game). That is pretty much their only tool in being a tool. (OccupyGStreet)

The game has too much math and has lost the adventure part. ilvl has ruined the fantasy journey of azeroth. Players couldnt see item ilvl back then. There was no need for perfect dpsrotations in molten core. It was an adventure
I don't think it was ilvl per se. There was just less shared knowledge, which makes sense for a younger game in the 2000s. (OccupyGStreet)
Most of us didn't approach *any* game back then with "How do I min/max this? What is the best spec?" (OccupyGStreet)
We played the characters we chose and when our guilds ventured into MC we used what we had. Alts were rarer in those days too. (OccupyGStreet)

Do you think WoW should have more exclusivity - like it did back in the old days? BC
Exclusivity works when it's stacked on top of normal content (not replacing it) which just means you need more content. (OccupyGStreet)
I was under the impression that Exclusivity was an integral part of why MMO's were successful in the first place.
I think so. But you can't have special content for the elite and nothing for everyone else. (OccupyGStreet)

I didn't start WoW until 2007. I recall lots of fun times since, screencaps from most of them, others just memories in brain.
I remember the feelings so vividly. I don't think you can recapture them though. (This is also true of most of life, sadly.) (OccupyGStreet)

  • Overview - Archimonde assaults players with the might of the Burning Legion, gaining new abilities each time his health is reduced by 15%, eventually summoning Rain of Chaos to destroy Draenor. When a player is launched into the air by Fel Burst, their allies must catch them to avoid fatal damage. As Archimonde Desecrates the land, players must protect themselves with the Light of the Naaru. When Archimonde reaches 40% health remaining, he begins to cast Nether Banish, sending players to the Twisting Nether.
    • Damage Dealers -
      • Destroy Doomfire Spirits quickly before they create too much Doomfire.
      • Wrought Chaos inflicts heavy damage if aimed towards other players.
      • Shackled Torment inflicts lethal raidwide damage if mutliple shackles are broken at once.
      • Infernal Doombringers will begin to cast Hellfire if not killed quickly.
    • Healers -
    • Tanks -
      • Death Brand inflicts massive initial damage and periodic damage until Hellfire Deathcallers are killed.
      • Nether Banish sends tanks to the Twisting Nether along with any other players within 10 yards.
  • Phase 1: The Defiler
    • Doomfire - Archimonde summons a Doomfire Spirit that persists until it is killed. While alive, the spirit will create a line of Doomfire that will pursue a player for 10 sec. before choosing a new target.

Doomfire inflicts 10,700 Fire damage every second for 8 sec. to players that come into contact with it. This effect stacks.
    • Allure of Flames - Archimonde instantly pulls all Doomfire to several player's locations.
    • Shadow Burst - Archimonde knocks a player and their allies within 8 yards high into the air. All players knocked into the air explode for 388,773 Shadow damage, split evenly among all players within 8 yards when they land.
    • Death Brand - Archimonde brands his target, summoning a Hellfire Deathcaller, inflicting 342,732 Shadow damage and an additional 59,895 Shadow every second until the Hellfire Deathcaller is killed.
      • Hellfire Deathcaller
        • Shadow Blast - Hellfire Deathcallers blast several players with demonic energy, inflicting 71,450 Shadow damage and increasing their Shadow damage taken by 25% for 30 sec. This effect stacks.
    • Demonic Art: Desecration - When Archimonde reaches 85% health remaining, he summons corruption that erupts from the ground.
      • Desecrate - Archimonde desecrates the land, inflicting 143,000 Physical damage to all players within 10 yards of the targeted location, summoning a spire of corruption. The spire inflicts 50,000 Shadow damage every 3 sec. to all players.

Each active spire increases the damage done by Desecration.
      • Yrel -
        • Light of the Naaru - Yrel shatters a spire of desecration, creating orbs of light that persist for 30 sec. Each orb will grant all players within 12 yards the Light of the Naaru for 20 sec., protecting them from all Shadow damage taken and increasing movement speed by 40%.
        • Purifying Light - When Archimonde is weakened, Yrel summons the light to destroy all spires of desecration.
  • Phase 2: Hand of the Legion - When Archimonde reaches 70% health remaining, he calls on new powers to destroy his enemies.
    • Shackled Torment - Archimonde torments the souls of 3 random players inflicting 17,900 Shadow damage every second until they are more than 30 yards from their soul. This effect increases by 10% with every tick.

When removed, Unleashed Torment inflicts 60,700 Shadow damage to all players.
      • Unleashed Torment - Shackled Souls explode inflicting 60,700 Shadow damage to all players when Shackled Torment is broken.
    • Wrought Chaos - Archimonde brands a player with several stacks of chaotic energy that explodes after 5 sec. The explosion inflicts 130,800 Fire damage to any player in a straight line towards the target of Focused Chaos.

      • Felborne Overfiend
        • Heart of Argus - Felborne Overfiends unleash the Flames of Argus each time their health is reduced by 25%. This effect inflicts 32,100 Fire damage to all players.
      • Dreadstalker
        • Consume Magic - Dreadstalkers teleport to a random player and unleash a shrill cry, inflicting 85,600 Shadow damage to all players within 8 yards. This effect interrupts spell casts for 3 sec.
  • Phase 3: The Twisting Nether - When Archimonde reaches 40% health remaining, he calls on the Twisting Nether to destroy his enemies.
    • Demonic Feedback - Archimonde inflicts 60,700 Shadow to all players and an additional 60,700 Shadow damage to all players within 6 yards of each player hit.

    • Nether Banish - Archimonde marks his current target, banishing them and everything within 8 yards to the Twisting Nether after 5 sec. When banished, a Nether Portal is torn open at the player's location, periodically summoning Living Shadows for the remainder of the fight.
      • Living Shadow - Living Shadow periodically spawn from the Nether Portal and attack players.

Each time a Living Shadow spawns from a portal, the rate at which they spawn is increased.
        • Devour Life - Living Shadows devour life from their target, inflicting 160,650 Shadow damage and reducing their healing and absorption received by 20% for 45 sec. This act destroys the Living Shadow.

        • Touch of Shadows - Shadowed Netherwalks unleash a wave a shadows, inflicting 125,000 Shadow damage to all players in the Twisting Nether.
        • Collapsing Void - The Twisting Nether collapses around Shadowed Netherwalkers when they die, creating a rift that will teleport players back to Draenor.
    • Demonic Art: Rain of Chaos - When Archimonde reaches 25% health remaining, he summons a massive meteor to destroy Draenor.
      • Rain of Chaos - Archimonde calls down a rain of meteors to destroy Draenor that inflicts 71,500 Fire damage to all players with each impact. This effect is reduced the farther away a player is from the point of impact.
        • Infernal Doombringer - Periodically the meteor impacts from Rain of Chaos will reform as Infernal Doombringers.
          • Eternal Flame - Infernal Doombringers smolder with intense heat that heals any other Infernal Doombringer within 15 yards for 8% of their maximum health every second.
          • Hellfire - Infernal Doombringers radiate Hellfire when they reach full energy, inflicting 46,450 Fire damage to all players within 40 yards every second.
  • Phase 3: The Twisting Nether - When Archimonde reaches 40% health remaining, he transcends. All of his enemies are drawn helplessly into the Twisting Nether, an endless, chaotic space from which few have ever returned...

Patch 6.2 - Class Balancing

We don't currently plan to put the legendary rings on the PTR. (WarcraftDevs)

Patch 5.2 kept me occupied for months with all the crap it had. 6.2 will last a week.
What do you feel Isle of Thunder has that Tanaan lacks? (WatcherDev)

Any plans for an Ogre Waygate in Tanaan Jungle?
Yes! Look for it in either the next PTR build or the one after. (WarcraftDevs)

When are you going to tune the Pandaria dungeons so we can solo? On that same note, what about the raids?
As player power grows naturally with new tiers and expansions, you’ll be able to solo more old content. Same as always. (WarcraftDevs)

Why are Lunkers unique 5? It's annoying having to go back every 5 lunkers.
The unique 5 restriction will be lifted in 6.2. (WarcraftDevs)

Do I need JC as an equipped prof to access the Arakkoa questline in tanaan for gems in 6.2? I have the JC garr. building
Yes, being trained in Jewelcrafting will be a prerequisite. (WarcraftDevs)

Reputation / Questing
You got story now through the Garrison Campaign, but it's not linked to Apexis dailies at all. wrong move IMHO.
Thanks, this is great, constructive feedback. (WatcherDev)

Really disappointing your the lead designer for WoW. I'm sure a lot of people agree with me. Your focus is completely off :/
Just saying: _A_ lead designer. Not _THE_ lead designer. We have a number of leads, all with different focuses and specialties. (WatcherDev)
Just because a single interview doesn't address every concern doesn't mean those concerns have fallen on deaf ears. (WatcherDev)
I could probably ramble for an hour about mistakes made and lessons learned, but the nature of an interview is a focused Q&A. (WatcherDev)

Curious what AMR does for that problem now. Back on Rawr, we (mostly Kavan) built a genetic algorithm for it. (Celestalon)
We use a branch and bound technique with some cleverness. We then tested it against a brute-force method that combed EVERY combo
Cool. I experimented with things like that, but I always ran into problems with cases where you had to take several... (Celestalon)
...individual downgrades in a row, followed by a large individual downgrade, in order to find a net upgrade. (Celestalon)
That occurred most commonly with combinations of hit caps, talent points, and especially set bonuses. Hard problems to optimize! (Celestalon)

What's your stand on the "no more flying in WoW" stance the devs have taken?
As a developer, I always applaud bold moves over feeling paralyzed by the weight of the status quo. (OccupyGStreet)
Even if you don't like a particular change, you should want people unafraid to make bold decisions running your game. (OccupyGStreet)

Developer Interview - No More Flying
Polygon has an interview with Ion Hazzikostas talking about Patch 6.2 and beyond.

  • The team will not be adding flying to Draenor.
  • Moving forward, new expansions are also unlikely to have flying outside of specific zones or expansion ideas.
  • The team will continue to improve flight paths.
  • Being able to fly added convenience, but removed the ability to add things like targeted exploration of the world and made the world feel smaller and less dangerous.

This kind of feedback is awesome, btw - things that aren't fun in a world of no flying and need to be improved.(Muffinus)

"If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." or similar is often attributed to Henry Ford.
And the point of that statement is that there are often solutions to a problem that are not always a direct continuation of what you expect
So when you think about flying/not flying today, try to think about what you like or miss in specifics rather than the blanket feature
Like: I miss flying because I enjoy looking at the world from a high vantage point, or I don't miss flying because the world feels dangerous
It helps us when you can give feedback about the feelings and emotion you have or don't have, and how that affects your behavior.
Yelling at us and telling us we're dumb for making a decision doesn't help.
For example, it could be argued that the command table is a stronger tether to keeping you in the garrison than lack of flight.
Try to dig past the initial feeling and reaction and tell us why you feel the way you do. That's the feedback that makes the game better.
I'm heading out early for the holiday weekend. Keep sending feedback. I will always read it. (nite_moogle)

Future Content
  • Is Patch 6.2 the final content patch? "We've got plenty of more story to be told after this"
  • The team is working hard to make sure players aren't left waiting for new content.
  • Patch 5.4 went on for a really long time, so they are trying to balance having a shorter time between expansions and the patch release cycle during the expansion.

Tanaan Jungle
  • There will be some "big setpiece quests that tell the story of bringing the confrontation to the gates of Hellfire Citadel"
  • New factions will be added that give reputation when you defend areas under attack or kill rare spawns. They offer cosmetic upgrades, player power items, and convenience items.

  • Timewalking is a trip down memory lane, not trivially easy, but not a way to give players brutally hard content.
  • Timewalking could be expanded to raids, but there are still some challenges that would have to be solved first.
  • The team wants to expand timewalking to Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria dungeons in the future.

Flying in Warlords of Draenor

Thanks for creating a thread on this. As you noted, lead designer Ion Hazzikostas mentioned in a recent interview with Polygon that we’ve decided not to allow the use of flying mounts on Draenor. There’s been a lot of debate about the pros and cons of flying over the course of this expansion—not just in the community, but in the hallways, offices, and break rooms at Blizzard—and we know it’s something everyone feels passionately about.

During Patch 6.2’s development, we continued to discuss how flight would fundamentally change the way players experience all of Draenor’s ground-based content, and carefully weighed that against the benefits flying would bring to the game. Ultimately, after much deliberation, we came to the conclusion that the world of Draenor would simply no longer provide the experience we envisioned it if we were to reintroduce flight in this expansion.

We appreciate everyone who has taken the time to weigh in on this topic. You’ve provided some great insight and feedback, and we ask that you please be respectful of one another as you continue to discuss your thoughts and experiences.

The high pricing is deliberate to discourage their purchase in favor of crafted items or raid BoEs. (WarcraftDevs)

will the Inn dungeon quest items work in Mythic dungeons? Will 6.2 have additional Inn quests?
Objectives for quests received from the Inn/Tavern can be completed in Mythic dungeons. No plans to add additional quests in 6.2. (WarcraftDevs)

Un-official poll: the next Exquisite Costume Set should be...??? (Muffinus)
Really disappointed with the Lich King Exquisite Costume. Why would I want something else like it?
Make a change to it that would make you happy (Muffinus)

"spectacle creep" sounds like blaming the audience for not liking your product
He is blaming the audience, for blizzard failing the game. maybe he should see the out cry over the new cash mount.
This is a general video about game design, how did you take this as anyone blaming anyone else for anything? (Muffinus)
It's a video on the challenge of making continually interesting twists, as a designer, generally. (Muffinus)
cutting content a twist? you hired 40% more workers yet still cut content, then say "making things exciting is hard"
Sounds like that's unrelated to the video, mostly. (Muffinus)
Making things unique after many things have been done IS challenging, but it's a very fun challenge. (Muffinus)
No, I have a issue with you using the video as a scape goat, to why WOD was not exciting. I know I'm not the only one.
I never said "this video is about WoD," because it's not. Could be said about any long-run project. (Muffinus)
I like to entertain general game design chat here, not WoW content specific. Don't assume I'm the enemy (Muffinus)

MoP was the most action packed expac since Wrath. Are you calling it dull so newcomers won't notice WoD is trash?
Things can be toned-down without being "dull." I loved some of the peaceful expanses/music. It was less explosive, but unique/cool. (Muffinus)
Jade forest & Vale explode. Krasarang is war torn. Every zone aside valley is sha infested. You have a strange concept of peaceful
Each zone had some elements to it, but overall I think tended to more character pieces than usual, V4W brewery, yak wash, etc. (Muffinus)
Regardless, it wasn't a statement about WoD, more of a general game design chat about design challenges. (Muffinus)

WoW Marathon World Record and Fundraiser
Margaret attemped the Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon of World of Warcraft. She started Saturday, May 23rd, 2015 at 12:00 AM Central and is helping to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Unfortunately her internet defeated her, so she has to attempt it again.

  • It costs $2 million dollars a day to operate St. Jude, which is primarily covered by individual contributors like you and me, averaging at around $33.00 per donation!
  • Families NEVER receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food! They even take care of the families pets! ...Because they feel that all families should be worrying about is helping their child live.
  • St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90% by 2020, and we can play a big part in helping fund the research involved in making this happen!
