World of Warcraft Account Sharing Ban Wave - February 21, 2022
Blizzard has confirmed the new ban wave that happened last evening. Initially, some players received an RMT notice in error, however, a second email was sent to clarify that the suspension was for "Unauthorized Account Access".
It looks like most people affected by this are the ones who bought a Mage Tower boost for the
Mage-Bound Spelltome mount. That being said, according to some reports on
Reddit and
Twitter, a few players might have been suspended by mistake for just using a VPN.

There was a banwave this evening - unfortunately, some initially received an RMT notice in error. The second they would have received would have been the one that was applied.
I do apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
As others have mentioned, this action wasn’t necessarily from recent activity.
If you’d wish to have this action reviewed, you’ll want to submit an appeal ticket.
Theres another ban going out for Account sharing as well?
From my understanding - that was what this one was primarily about.

These people know it’s more advantageous to get banned and continue on after getting help with mage tower. Strip the book from their accounts and in fact lock the them forever out from being able to earn it again.
It’s worth noting that the subject line of this discussion thread is exactly what we intend to do. We don’t consider it sufficient to issue a suspension and then have the offender log back in with their ill-gotten gains intact.
We’ll remove both the reward(s) and the kill credit(s) from any player who was actioned for having their account piloted.
