The HyperX is quite pricier (In Sweden, which is where it matter), but it has the oomph to back it up. I'd personally choose the Force 3 for the exterior and brand-loyalty, and price matters.
The HyperX is by no means a bad recommendation to anyone. And now, I'm off to play Batman. With an Xbox-controller. To my PC!

My system is a couple years old mostly, wanna upgrade but can't justify it yet:

    Case: Fractal Define XL
    Motherboard: MSI P55A-GD55 (I think)
Power Supply: A good one that was enough (XFX XXX 750 watt modular as I recall)
    Processor: Intel Core i5-750
CPU Cooler: Zalman (CNPS9500 or similar I think)
Memory: 8GB (2x4gb) of memory that was on sale and good (Think was Mushkin)
Graphics Card: Power Color ATI 6950 2GB (loud as hell, don't buy it)
    Hard Drive:
OS and Some Choice Games - 2 x OCZ Vertex 60GB SSD's (Originals) in Raid 0
Filer backup and other games - 1 x Western Digital Black 2GB Hard drive

    External Hardware:
    Keyboard: Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
    Mouse: Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse
Desktop Speakers: Old Altec Lansing 5.1 Surround Speakers (No idea on the model, they're well over 5 years old)
Monitor: Dell Ultrasharp 2407wfp 24" LCD Display

Coffee: Lotsa sugar and cream, hate the taste, but keeps me awake for more games

I can see how it would be difficult to justify an upgrade for that system. Before Intel dropped the Sandy Bridge bombshell, this forum was pretty much recommending i5 750/760 left right and center for gaming setups. Low cost, easy to OC, quad core, unbeatable for gaming even beyond it's price range. Is yours OC'd?
But yeah, I wouldn't upgrade that either especially since you already got a current-gen GPU. Unfortunate you grabbed a reference 6950! Those can indeed get quite loud.
WoW Character: Wintel - Frostmourne (OCE)

Oh I could use the coffee *takes it carefully to not spill a drop* uggg... night shifts...

Nope, my system is not overclocked. I built it (like my last few machines) to be able to overclock if it's needed, but frankly I have never come across a reason for doing so. It handles everything that I throw at it, except the recent change for the video card. Previously I had two MSI 4850's in crossfire. With BF3 and the new dirt game out, I wanted to get up into DX 11 support and get some of the features of the newer cards.

-_- Wish I had studied the 6k series more though and realized how loud the reference 6950's could be.

Great job for me, having a nice quiet case like the Fractal XL... and now all I hear is a turbine running when anything but the desktop is displayed -_-

    Ah well.

Still a nice system that should last a year and a half until my car is paid off (I hope)

Kingston SSD's are pretty good for what you pay. They are a bit slower then the Corsair and Crucial models, but their price point is generally pretty good for the speed you get. My 64GB Kingston SSD is plenty fast enough as a main drive, I'd only demand faster if I was using a secondary for all my games but since the prices of a considerably larger SSD at this point are astronomical at this frame in time, I will stick by my mechanical 7200 RPM 64MB cache Western Digital Caviar Black 1.5TB drive. I am hoping the 250GB+ SSD's drop in price dramatically in the next 6 months, I don't really want to drop a weeks pay on a 300GB SSD at this point in time.

Hey, that looks awesome! Extremelly clean looking build with great colour scheme, why did you mount the fans on the cooler in pull-setup though?

Edit: Ah, the infamous vengeance non-low-profile RAM?

O_o Thermalright TY-140 fans are some nice looking fans... you must be crazy to think they're ugly :P

  18. #4598
They're like the noctua fans. They're not ugly per se, but there's exactly no form of computer that blends well with them.

Just FYI, with that setup/positioning your rear fan is doing nothing but obstructing airflow. If I had my way I would cut a 140x140 hole and let the Silver Arrow's 140mm fan push air out of the case unobstructed, but you can help by removing the rear 120mm completely. OR you can remove the RAM sinks off your Vengeance and mount the heatsink fans in push-pull, those tall heatsinks are really pointless.
