Both threads were given major warnings in the past, and as far as the R34 stuff goes, it's gone. Anything particularly bad gets seen, and as always if you see something that shouldn't be there feel free to report it. The difference between each thread is that actual discussion happens there, as opposed to what amounts to pages full of nothing but spam in here. I give this recent page as an example. I know what you're going to say, I picked that one out and it's one in a million. But because this thread isn't as quick-paced as it used to be, I can easily check every single post in it, and I could easily pick out many more examples.

What you see as spam I still see as chatting, that's really just how we chat together. :/

There's a difference in what it brings to the site.

A bunch of bros fistbumping in a thread about how awesome they are and how many memes they can spam is pointless and makes the site look bad. A casual chat about "hey, I liked this game" or "i just saw this movie and it was fun" brings some nice discussion.

The pony thread has a point, and they have nice casual discussion about both the pony stuff and movies/games/etc. They got yelled at when they started just meme-spamming too.

There are sub forums and threads for those two topics you mentioned. We'd get in trouble talking about it here or the post/thread would get moved.

No, that's the point of a chat thread -- if you want serious discussion about the game/movie, the video game/movie forums are a good place. But for casual rambling discussion, this is a good place.
