Mmmm I don't like people keeping wild animals as pets.

Nearly always a bad thing because people don't understand the space those animals need and their dietary needs... not to mention if they don't hunt you have to come up with some way to exercise their minds and bodies. It's not something most people can handle.

There are a few wolf-dog hybrids around though they are illegal in many places... I actually used to know someone who had one. Was a great animal, but occasionally too much of the wolf instinct came through.

I'm not even sure horses and zebras can mate actually....

Regarding wild animals...remember, dogs and cats have been domesticated over the last 35,000 years. The breeds today (dogs, at least), are all descended from the common gray wolf, with most of the wolf instincts long since bred out and new genes to favor and form bonds with humans. Wild animals are wild. They're not innately connected to us and will turn on us no matter how much you think they "love" us.

I've seen a documentary about this orangutan that was all cute, but then it became a teenager and got all horny and violent.
