Wait what speakers/phones are you using it with again?

Also, tried playing with the equalizer?

Some people don't even bother playing around with their equalizers to find out how their speakers/phones react to it and if they can improve their listening experience *cough* Deltrus *cough*.

    Whoa there.

I'm not even using 'good' stuff. I got an old Altec Lansing speaker system with noise issues (poor design in the sub - amp and power supply are practically right next to each other). Also using a pair of Sennheiser PC330's. They're good, but not super enthusiast headphones by any stretch. Even then, the difference is night and day compared to the old X-Fi. I know what's going on my giftmas list... 'spensive Sennheisers!

Edit: Yes I did play with the EQ.

I played with the EQ a lot yesterday.

Then after Cyanotical and Marest hounded me on Facebook about using this setting:

    [------------------]

I've been using it for Dream Theater/Iron Maiden and it is working out very well.

Here's how it looks in the case. I'm gonna have to rethink some wiring I have done later. For now, I just removed that plate above the PSU and pulled the Molex wire used for the fan controller.

Also, for some reason, it didn't like the bottom x16 slot, so I had to use the middle one. :<

Looks good Asera! (A little messy, but oh well) :P

How much of a difference did you get with your headset?

The difference is ridiculous on both the crappy speakers and PC330's.

Also, check out the corrosion on the old X-Fi...

Well atleast you have the option of putting it below your GPU >_> I have mine pretty much frying against the GPU backplate because it can't go anywhere else...I've wedged a piece of cardboard between the two so the heat doesn't conduct straight from the metal backplate to the metal STX shielding.

But I read that the circuitry/caps on the STX can withstand up to 125c, which is neat

    Also, oh gawd that corrosion.

You should clean it with some saltwater :P

Dat PCB, never seen anything like it O.o

But then again I arrived at around the SB time, so I'm still a little puppy compared to the lot of you.

My speakers will blow your mind.

Costed $30. Does the job when I'm on Twitch/Youtube ^^

I've had my soundcard for a good 2½ years now, no corrosion

What about the PCB looks so different? O.o I came in just before SB, like, maybe a month before, and I have seen it. It's a low-end sound card. Woohoo?

    I got it in 2006 I think.

It's been through an Athlon XP 2500+ system, Athlon 64 3200+ system, Core 2 Duo E8400 system, Phenom II X4 955BE system, and the current i5 2500K system.

It's also been across the country twice.

Yeah I wasn't putting that card right next to a 5970. I could probably pan fry some cod on the back of that card...
