Am I? Which other MMO is a, as you so eloquently put it, a flame fest? I know it isn't WoW. Not to the point where it ruined the community. I know it isn't SWTOR. Played that game for 3 months and saw like 4-5 instances of open flaming. Not really a flame fest. I know it isn't Warhammer. I didn't play Final Fantasy MMO but I doubt the game is ruined by flaming there either.

Please tell me what these MMOs are, or is it straight bullshit?

For all those arguing that GW2 has "endgame", you must keep in mind that it's subjective to each player.

For players that want competitive progression styled PvE, it's not there. One can claim "Oh but there's... dungeons!" all they want, but that's a very small sliver of PvE "endgame" compared to most other MMOs. Seeing as all dynamic events as of now are a zerg fest with little to no skill required (and even if you die you just run back and continue fighting), I don't see anything else.

HOWEVER, for PvP minded players, yes. There is -plenty- of endgame with a strong focus on making the game e-sport viable. This is a good thing, and more than likely will keep the game alive.

    In short:

Is the hard mode WoW raider going to be able to swap games for a similar PvE challenge? Definitely not, no where remotely close.

Is the casual or PvP centric WoW player going to able to swap games for a similar PvP / casually played atmosphere? Most definitely, and this is clearly what this game is targeted at.

Meh, It may not have competitive style PVE content or a way to ALWAYS improve your characters power due to a gear treadmill, but there are tons of people out there (myself included) who are quite frankly sick of playing a game to just level up as fast as you can in order to actually start playing the good part of the game. On top of that, they are just completely worn out from doing the exact same thing over and over for years and years and are desperately looking for a new game that will break that vicious cycle.

I used to love raiding 3-4 nights a week, but after doing it for seven years straight I finally just got burned out from it and looked at the game to be more of a job than a game, but GW2 doesn't have any of that mess, and that's why I'm madly in love with it! I just love the feeling of playing an MMO where I'm not obligated to be on all of the time, but when I do log in and I want do something that will challenge my character I know it will be there.

Spent a few hours queueing into BGs last night, the fact that I didn't get a single one that made me say "FUCK" out loud when I saw the loading screen made this a pretty big win for me.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit myself. The guild perks are quite an interesting time sink. Only 27 atm, still a long ways to go. But I'm having fun and having my friends with me helps with enjoying the experience even more. xD Hopefully they bring the Trading Post back up today.

You probably havent reached max lvl yet and havent seen the end game content. Dont you think its a little too soon for drawing conclusions? the game is good but when it comes to mmo's it takes more time to tell if it will be a good or bad game.

Phantasy Star Online didn't have the hugest end game (Ruins, Dark Falz) however it was still an amazing and enjoyable game. You don't need raids to bash at 3 days a week to make the game good for endgame, it just needs to have lots of different activities to do.

I'm so pumped for this game, roll on tonight! p.s Stoked for PSO2 as well

    Shallow, so shallow.
You can only talk about if a MMO is good after a couple of monthes. Until then it does not make any sense.

maybe if the game was centered around max level but this game is not, i think you need to do your research. nearly everything is saccessible at level 1. but 2 days is not long enough either, maybe a week or 2. a lot of us also played beta weekends for days.

I'm level 20 and my gear has not changed at all, well, a few patterns here and there but nothing major, the only thing I have noticed was the weapons but nothing else, if you look at high level chars(60-70) it still looks like they are the same level as I am, very lame.

"gear design" As in there is no gear progression? Just how is that necessarily a bad thing?

That's what GW2 is all about. There is a horizontal gear progression, meaning that, at endgame, you're saving for better looking gear.
Every character in GW1 looked roughly the same as well, until they got 15k/fow armors with rare dyes.

This is by far the best MMO I have played to date I have a level 45 and a 31, it has more then enough content to keep me happy. But somthing I do not understand and its a bit off topic, I keep hearing people cry the dynamic events are just quest from other MMO's just hidden well. Yes they are but that is what every game is unless your playing a sports game, sim or so on. There is no way around that if you took out kill/defend/gather/escort there would be nothing to do as far as quest go. The only way to get rid of that design is to make it a simple sandbox but again it still has kill/gather and so on....it just amazes how people can find anything even if it is so small to bitch about..... But back on topic I love the story, armor, and skill evolved in the game at higher levels and the pvp is amazing....still have yet to loss a 1 on 1 with my warriors duel swords ^^.

PS there is a lot of armor skins int he game you just have to do your hearts and use your karma to buy gear. On my warrior I have had 8 different looking sets up to level 31 from karma vendors and crafting.

Except dungeons, higher level zones and most PvE content. All of us have no idea how it will be there. Let's talk after most people have seen the high-level zones, ok?

WRONG. you had far better and easier choices for gear lower on than you do in gw2. i wondered why my shit wasnt changing appearance now i know why. they stuck all the grind your ass off gear on vendors and you get pissy welfare garbage. way to go for a game that touts it all being for asthetics.

People might go back to wow because they have paid for their time, so they might feel squeezing it out before their sub is over :>

Sure some people dislike it and are hating it, but it is not far from "THE BEST MMO EVAR CREATED!!1111oneonenone" just from seeing the amount of possitive feedback thus far.
Even at $15 a month if you only play for 2 hours a month you are getting more bang for you buck than seeing one movie a month. Average movie tickets at $12 plus concessions takes you well over $15 and most movies are less than 100 min. So to me and many others whether it is free or not is a moot point. I am more concerned with content and fun. While it has a refreshing change with the lack of dedicated roles and non linear path I feel it will once again be a niche game like GW1 was. Nothing wrong with that. Just expect to get tons of flames from the "told you it's not a WoW killer" crowd. Which will happen over and over like on the SWTOR forums when it was apparent at level cap the game ceased to be fun or good.
