Gonna miss them a lot. Not for the utility but is somthing that defined us since Warcraft III and Diablo II.

    Farewell, old friend.

OT: Glad that people will finally stop calling me out for keeping Crusader Aura on all the time.

Yeah I just googled "Candlelit Vigil" but didn't chekc the location so hoped I didn't get anything too bad that I would be defaming but it was kinda hard to tell being in the UK about it being an American campus. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone.

Damn I never got to change my auras before I logged off

Now I feel as bad as I did when I didn't get to use the "Doom Portal" for warlocks and drain mana before they was removed.

I guess I'll go ahead and be the only one to say I actually liked auras (or the idea of them). Regardless of how "good" they were, I suppose they didn't like the whole "set it and forget it" mentality.... That being said:

    A. paladins should have auras, forget mechanics for a second, they were class defining, or should have been at least. If they suck, removing them isn't the solution, as far as people leaving crusader aura on, yeah I saw that happen all the time, but if auras were actually better you can bet people would get in the habit of actually switching them...and if that's too much work, smh.

    B. I like the idea of bringing different buffs to the group, paladin auras were one of the last remaining unique buffs, now everything has been homogenized into 3 buff types, meh. The majority of raiders and the min-maxers are far removed.

    C. I'm getting a little tired of having more and more cd skills that last 5 seconds...A while back, you had your "oh shit" buttons for rare occasions, if you ran out of oh shit buttons, you were probably doing it wrong. Now I've got so many, especially with changes to talents, I can almost just keep them rolling, which is a little boring imo.

On a side note I was running an old raid last night that required fire resistance...this isn't an argument, I'm just wondering how they made up for completely removing resistances? Do new bosses just not do elemental damage?

With the removal of Crusader Aura and the replacement of the ability to rider faster than most everyone else, I find it odd that as a Holy Paladin in a battleground I race to the node to see a bunch of "reds" and turn around and my party hasn't made it yet and I have no one to heal. It seems that the change has really goofed up the gameplay in battlegrounds. Riding faster than everyone else doesn't do me any good.

I will forever miss the phrase "ffs crusader aura pala!!!!!!" or on the other hand in AV "FFS 20 palas and no crusader" :P

The alternative was to make them useful...which would have kept an iconic mechanic and solved that particualr issue. Imagine, for example an Aura of Might which gave everyone affected +5 Mastery. Why was it interesting as an Blessing but uninteresting as an Aura?

A problem pointed out by several playtesters. It's a minor issue, but with noone else affected you end up either way ahead of the pack or have to stop-start-stop-start any time you ride with others. It's a a skill that is proving highly annoying while grouped - escort quests with this quirk were bad enough.

Blessings can be dispelled, auras can't. If we were to be given auras in place of our blessings, we'd have powerful raid buffs that can't be removed (unless they had reverted the 'auras persist through death' tweak that they added in Wrath). Along the same lines, the blessings-as-auras idea is even less appealing, because you would rarely ever have to hit a different aura (much like they have been for some time).

Even if you were to design completely different aura effects, they would be difficult to balance because of the first issue I stated: they are raid-wide and persist through death. If they were powerful enough to be an impact on raid performance, it would make paladins a 'required' class. If not, then we'd be in the same situation: the aura effects would be trivial, and you wouldn't particularly care one way or another which was up.

Heart of the Crusader - I will agree it is minor but highly annoying. If I could turn it on and off it would be nicer. Another situation is that now it applies to flying mounts and when I group with my wife who is a Warlock and we need to fly across the continent, she can't keep up and I can't slow down. I would be happy if they made HotC an on/off mechanic so I could use it when I wanted it.

A deted mechanic that will not be missed.

Little sad to see something iconic gone, but really they weren't that awe inspiring.

I don't miss auras - I miss DI that was our iconic spell and I see no real reason for removing it...

I do miss auras. But I miss plenty of more things over it.

Like seal of the Crusader (and that TBC graphic, hot damn!), Consumable seals (seal twisting included), DI and quite a few other things.

Perhaps we will see Auras reincarnated one day but in a more solid and thought out form. As for now, it'll be something nostalgia will have to keep.

Not having Crusader Aura WOULD suck for leveling with my fiancee, but this time she's rerolling Monk so I'm doing the grind to 90 solo anyways.

Even if we weren't I have the tundra mammoth, so she could just hitch a ride with my 20% faster mount speed.

NGL, I spent about half an hour last night reloading my UI because I thought outdated addons were blocking my auras/removed them from the new spellbook (I didn't read any paladin changes since he's not my main) ><.

Kinda sad though. As limited as they were, they were iconic to the class - shaman have totems, pallies have auras. It just doesn't feel right. I wont be having moments of <.< >.> in raid when the RL asks "WHICH PALLY HAS CRUSADER ON???" anymore.

The only time people remembered Auras was when one Pally forgot to take Crusader off. No one noticed if one was missing, and they sure as hell didn't notice that Elemental Resist or Stoneskin totems were up. LOL!

Good-bye Crusader Aura trolling in LFR/BH...you will be missed.
