Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.

    Just, be kind.

Putting the national debt in terms of a single family paying it off is also insane.

Not saying the debt isn't out of control, but hyperbole doesn't help.

Unfortunately, hyperbole is about all they've got. The last president who actually managed to balance the budget had to do it without a single republican vote and without some democrat ones too.

Hyperbole is pretty much the name of the game when it comes too pretty much ANY political discourse. Hell this entire thread is based of hyperbole...Is the us falling apart? Basically is the US tearing itself apart with internal division and strife.

    No.

If Republicans are trying to win a record for amount of colossal butthurt I think they're close to it. Holy shit, you lost. Figure out what you did wrong and get the fuck over it. I can't believe what gigantic babies they are STILL being.

This whole refusal to be introspective and just charge to an even more rightward hyperbolic position without any thought as to maybe that's why you lost this time is why you're going to lose again and again and again.

I'm not trying to equate them, but this happens regardless of who wins or loses.

I can still remember the "He's not MY President" bumper stickers when Bush won, but lost the popular vote.

Babys are things that cannot take care of themselves and need assistance. Think you got your analogy backwards since the 47% are pretty much adult babies and voted democrat.

Id gladly move to Texas if it successfully seceded. On that note, when Texas did join the union it was actually its OWN country, and one of the conditions of joining was that it kept the option to secede.

This is the same panic that swelled up when Obama was elected the first time. The conservative right (whose color is red, keep in mind, same color as the commies and (gasp) socialists they condemn so freely) freaked out about an economic downturn that began in the months leading up to the 2008 Election. They IGNORED those months, and when Obama took office, they blamed the horrible numbers on HIM and not the HISTORY. The economy is stimulated by people SPENDING money, they get this money by providing services and goods to OTHER PEOPLE (aka, society), which they do using skills they have learned FROM SOCIETY (aka, education and work-force training/orientation). The very idea that somehow leaving alone the BIGGEST chunks of money HELD BY THE RICH is completely counter-productive. In order for our country to flourish, we have to BE A COUNTRY, and I refer you to the motto of the United States: E Pluribus Unum, OUT OF MANY, ONE.

The republican stance is NOT a completely flawed stance. It emphasizes things such as personal responsibility. The problem is not the stance, it is the ones who misinterpret what the stance is trying to achieve. Romney's big mistake was assuming that anyone could amass the wealth he did, when all he did was outswim his father's other sperm. He thought he was born in the log cabin he built himself. My main point in this paragraph is that the republican party has forgotten that they have a personal responsibility to do the bidding of the people, NOT mold the country in their own personal (and by logic, unattainable) utopia. Most (not all, I know there are some of you republicans out there with great intelligence and reasoning) republicans want a nation that only recognizes the God of Abrahamic sects (Judaism, Christianity, etc.), a nation that uses the resources it could use to feed, clothe, shelter, and educate the poor and unfortunate to preserve their own luxuries, a nation where the "straight white man" (I'm one of them, and even I'm not this ignorant) cannot be challenged by any so-called "minority" (women, homosexuals, secularists, and other races of men) and a nation that rules the entire world by these notions: "Do what we say or we'll use our nukes on you." Again, I reiterate, not all republicans believe this way, but the ones getting the most spotlight are making these ideas easy to believe. Binders full of women? Gimme a break.

They attack the left-wing by accusing them of socialism (a word they cannot define), of totalitarianism, and of wasteful spending. They say leftists are on a wild-goose chase to stop global warming, when they're really trying to minimize the damage we do to our own lands. They claim left-wingers are hostile towards religion, when they are only responding in kind to the hostility that secularists face (a poll showed that the most untrustworthy kind of person is an atheist, and I'd love to see the evidence they have to prove this). Main point here: The political parties of this country have been bickering like children over a toy for far too long, each claiming to know what the founding fathers intended this nation to be. I'll tell you what the founding fathers wanted. They wanted a nation that had citizens able to think and act for themselves, freely, without persecution from their neighbors, a nation of all peoples of the world coming together to shape a world united in peace and happiness, not bloodshed and discontent (oh, how askew the path has gone...).

Final point, on this whole thing about seceding states...they are throwing a temper-tantrum, plain and simple. This is not about political differences, this is not about taxes, or budgets, its not even about morals or anything of the sort. It's not even about the well-being of our great nation.

Dare I say, and I do say, the uproar is a farce, a facade of political disagreement hiding the ugly face of racism. Purely a speculative statement, but really examine the states that wish to secede. Texas? Alabama? LOUISIANA? Look me in the avatar and tell me that this isn't just a bunch of angry white supremacists who just can't handle the idea of a black man in charge. Granted, there definitely some of them who are just being patriots and exercising their right to petition in protest of new upcoming laws that may compromise their comfort levels, but I'm willing to bet that the majority of the petitioners are just ignorant white people who think the reason they can't get a good job is because of some "agenda" or "conspiracy" against them. In reality, they can't get a good job because they lack the resources to get a proper education from the ground level. I'm at the bottom, myself, I work in a Boston-based cafe, baking confections for 10/hour. My dream? To get an education in either music production or (as many of you may want) in video game development. I have no more than a GED, but that was a first step. In order to get that education, I'll need a student loan, and with the currently abysmal grant system and student loan laws, I'm reluctant to take my next step if I am expected to pay back those loans in a timeframe beyond the means that my education had given me.

Obama will put into law that student loans are to be made in monthly payments BASED OFF OF THE STUDENT'S INCOME, [B]NOT[B] BY A MONTHLY PRICE SET BY THE LOANER. This will make getting your education merely a matter of your own hard work in the classes themselves. School is hard enough, let alone if you have to juggle a day job, social obligations, and possibly children, if you have them.

I know this was a lot to take in, and a lot of you may have some holes to poke in my logic, but I invite you, try.

Factor in how much obama has spent on the people who voted for him, the numbers arent even close. Been buying votes with ebt cards and obama phones for the last 4 years.

They cannot take away your ebt now since you no longer have to look for a job to receive the benefits (obama dropped the work requirement). All you gotta do is have 1 baby a year and vote democrat, the nation is finished.
