Tiny specks of thermal paste on 2500k a couple pins, should I not worry about it?

When I took out my 2500k to clean the thermal paste off of it so I could apply new paste, I saw a tiny specks of thermal paste on a couple of the "pins". Not really a pin, more of a contact point.

Is it safe to clean it off? Or should I not even be worried about it.

like solidified chunks? or is there paste in the socket?

Just unplug the thing, break out some alcohol and qtips and it should clean off just fine. Just be very gentle.

i suppose a picture would help, what im getting at is specifically where the paste is, if its in the MB socket, you pretty much need a new MB otherwise as long as you are careful, you can wipe the contacts of a CPU with alcohol, just be careful

2500k is very durable processor. I actually bended one of the the pins while installing it and it has still worked fine over a year now.

the 2500k doesn't have pins, it's an LGA chip

there is nothing to bend on an LGA chip, are you talking about the motherboard socket?

Shouldn't be a problem, as already pointed out; if it worries you too much, just get some isopropyl or other alcohol (I use acetone) and drip some on a qtip.

Depends on the thermal paste used most pastes are capacitive but not conductive but since its a LGA chip i see no reason to not clean it with some rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth or even better a Zeiss lense wipe.

if you have pins there to bend, you have an AMD chip, not a 2500k

Just use a cloth/paper towel and some rubbing alcohol to get it off. The connectors on the cpu where the pins touch are flat and nothing bad will happen. I'd clean it off.

Hehehehe that explains a lot! I guess one of them was just lightly darker than another or something...
