any clue why starlight ink is so cheap?

Note: confirmed herb spawn rate nerf, see post #9.

    ==== original post ====

Is there some patch note that I missed? With the herb spawn rates going down, I figured I'd check prices for starlight ink before darkmoon faire, and they were about 1/2 what they were a couple weeks ago:

I'm really confused. In case I just got lucky, I just spend a couple thousand gold buying up inks, but I'm assuming I'm not lucky, I'm just dumb, and that there is a much better way to get ink now, or people think the cards won't sell for anything.

    Thoughts?

Undercutting would be my guess on why it was so cheap.

Cards are extremely cheap, herbs are everywhere, if you level an alt with herbalism mining you most likely have to stop picking up stuff before you realize you spend 80% of the time gathering 20% questing, ink of dreams is also extremely cheap and with 10 of those you can get a starlight ink, and the amount of sellers is also huge, not really sure why you'd think they should be more expensive.

@Eskobar - because of the supposed herb spawn rate nerf. If herbs are a lot harder to come by, especially fools cap which has the best misty pigment mill rate, then the starlight ink should theoretically have a lesser supply = higher price.

Botters making herbs barely worth selling, because lets face it we all know some guy didn't farm 350 stacks of the same herb to sell at 25-30g because of the huge profit to be had for time spent ratio

If herbs are cheap, inks will be cheap

Nothing confirmed by Blizzard, but these are the types of posts that led me to call the current situation a "supposed herb spawn rate nerf".

Newer content and more access to trinkets that drop from bosses is my guess

    smart botters do the following:

    mill all herbs,
turn ink of dreams into enchants
the leftover amount of starlight ink becomes a large pile of bag space taking poop, so they sell on ah no matter what the price is.

This is often the culprit. It is amazing how many ppl cannot do math and sell things for less then they vendor for or get so hung up on using add ons they end up undercutting themselves when market prices jump, much like this stuff should now.

Starlight ink has never been cheap on my server

Not cheap at all on my server, 39G per INK.

And its price has skyrocketed by people hoping to gouge with this week being Darkmoon Fair.
Fool's Cap is 60G per stack right now.

    you call that not cheap?

ink is 120 on my server, 1 stack fool's cap is 130g. card's sell between 500 and 2000g. so not much profit to make here.

The ink is so cheap because even at those prices, people are probably still making profits (assuming herbs sell for roughly what they do on my server).

People are terrible at math and don't understand how cheap it is to make starlight ink. Before the node spawn nerf, I had no issue selling starlight ink for 50g each.
