Brawler's Guild: how is it working out for you?

Okay, I thought it sounded pretty neat. When the patch came out, my wife and I ran into the Deeprun Tram hoping to find some alternative content to pass some time. We looked around and saw some brawls going on but no way to get invited to the guild. We asked in our guild how to get in and were told you have to get lucky and get a drop from the opposite faction NPC's and what not.

So, we left and pretty much forgot all about it. If there would have been a quest chain that would have guided us along we might have stayed interested. But to go grind for some drop just to queue up and wait to do some solo fights for some meager rewards, we didn't really see the value. Perhaps this was meant to be a spectator thing as much as anything.

Did we miss something? Is there more to this than met our eye? For now, when I log on, I'd rather be doing some battlegrounds, quests, or dungeons and filling in idle time with a pet battle here and there.

Buy one off the BMAH or buy one off the regular AH (from rank 7 people).

You can buy it from the Black Market Auction House, or find it from Rare Monsters all over Pandaria.

The Brawlers Guild is meant to be a slowly introduced event. It isn't meant for the entire community to get involved with in the first week. It is a gated event, that could take months before we all get in.

Personally, I've not bothered to buy the pass. I'm a healer, and I wouldn't be able to kill anything anyway. If I find the pass on a rare mob, I might spend some time down there for fun, but I doubt I'll get involved, when there is nothing a healer can do to win.

The Value is that is a fun challenging thing to do.

There are 5 or 6 achievements associated with it, but otherwise its for fun.

You need an invite, either from the random drops from the new elite guys (I don't know the specifics on this method), or buy one from the Black Market AH, or get invited by someone who is already in the Brawler Guild and has gotten to rank 7 (I think they only get to invite one person).

I bought an invite off the BMAH. It's pretty cool, had fun that first night watching other people fight and going at it myself. I haven't had much time recently to do it, but I tried to go there at least once per day to get my accelerated queue.

I don't know what they cost, but would it really be worth it? I am starting to see this more as a prestige thing for people who want to be recognized much like the old PVP ranking system. If that is all it is, I wouldn't pay thousands of gold for one. I'd rather pay for gear and I don't farm a ton of gold.

I am a healer like a previous poster. I was thinking about that also. I see it being a slowly introduced event but for people who run in there expecting to be able to at least get started on new content and finding out they can't, I can see them forgetting about it altogether with it being underground and all. I think blizzard could have put these resources into something a little better.

Don't bother then. It is still expensive at the moment, and targeted towards DPS.

my guild had like 300k gold in the bank, so i agreed with guildies that if anyone wanted an invite we could buy them off the BMAH using guild bank funds, nobody was really that fussed about it, but i did get one for myself

got up to rank 7 within a week and thoroughly enjoyed it, however, i spent more time fighting the queue, than i did any brawlers.

queue times of up to 10 mins i find acceptable - queue times of 45 mins (which is how long it took my first time there) are ridiculous, especially considering that this can be cross realm. (you do however get to queue skip for your first brawl of the day, which helps a little)

however, i have generally met some fairly decent groups of people whilst down there; players who were happy to invite you to their buff group, congratulate you when you had won a particularly tough fight and who would help you if you were sucking on a particular brawler. (i refused to look up fight tactics, so i did die a couple times - but not to bruce!)

tbh, i think the devs supplied what they were intending to, somewhere for people to hang out and socialise with some random people for a bit, while waiting in a queue for rare-mob type fights that give you a sense of accomplishment and bragging rights, as opposed to vanity rewards.

edit: as i hit rank 7, i sent my invite to someone else in my guild who had expressed an interest, we will continue to do this until everyone in the guild has an invite, or nobody else cares about it.

If you don't mind farming go kill 1 of the 3 ally/horde guys in Karasang(sp?). They drop the invites but it's a rare chance around 5% I'd say. I killed 1 guy then a few hours later killed him again and got my invite.

In regards to you being a healer, that's what dual spec is for no? Also, assuming you are a druid/priest/shammy your healing gear can be used to DPS with.

Queue times are pretty bad but I find during the day they are fine. It doesn't get busy on my server until around 6-7EST so I got to rank 7 in two days. Then I sold my invite for 25k (got it for free) so it was worth it for me. That being said I've probably dropped about 1k in repairs from that place and battletron is face stomping me.
