Right to Work Law Passed in Michigan: Why are people protesting?

I would agree, but that does not necessarily answer the question why thousands of people would protest over it.

Thousands of people in Michigan are in unions. When you start to push Unions out, these people are at risk of losing jobs. I personally was in a union, and was laid off over complete morons who could not perform there jobs to my level because they were hired first. This experience alone gives me great praise for Michigan passing this law. Honestly gives the chance for American manufacturing in the state to go up in quality because they can higher and fire at will. This also will help companies who need to cut wages do so.

That sounds great, in theory. In practice, it ends up much worse. Come to North Carolina, we have been a right to work state for decades. Live here outside the tourist areas and you will be begging for your unions back.

You had a problem with a bad union, sorry to hear it, for everyone bad union you have, you will find many more bad companies due to lack of them. Question where these guys honestly complete morons? Or were they just much older and not as quick due to the age?

You think it will raise the quality, but in practice, the quality typically goes stagnates or goes down as the companies have no reason to improve as most will only be as good as they NEED to be to get your business unless forced to do so and many will hire and fire at will just to get the cheapest labor possible, quality be damned so long as it passes a certain threshold.

And name one company that needed to cut wages but couldn't due to unions?

The USPS? Nope, neither wages nor unions were ever a problem for them, still aren't. The 2006 Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act is what is killing them by forcing them to set aside 5.1 billion dollars a year into an account that they can't touch which they never had to do before and denying them the ability to do some modernization's to bring their costs down.

Hostess? Nope, they died due to massive mismanagement and their inability to improve their products. The Unions actually made concessions and cut pay till management voted themselves a 300% pay raise while asking for them to give up more.

Sorry, but in theory, right to work may be great. But in practice, when you take into account real world situations and general sociopaths in power and greed, it turns into a complete and total failure for all but the ones running the show. You don't believe me? Go to a right to work state that has been that way for decades and see how well they are doing unless being propped up and forced to improve.

while it's taken on the form of anti-establishment in recent history.. it's only because the establishment has been right wing. What you're arguing at this point is that as soon as the government becomes socialist or totalitarian that the new left is going to be towards conservative since they are no longer the establishment.
