I just started playing my rogue again since cata. Does sub do more PVP-burst damage than assassination? Or is assassin still on top in terms of damage, but lacks options?

Hmm. It's kinda hard to say, really... Both of them have high ramp up times, and neither have THAT great burst. Under ideal circumstances, with everything setup properly and all cooldowns running, Subtlety out-bursts Assassination by a rather huge margin, but only because Assassination doesn't really have any burst whatsoever.
Sub is superior in burst and setup potential.
Assassination can put up quite more pressure, but it requires alot of damage uptime, wich is far from possible to have in competitive PvP.
When Mark for Death replaces Versatility in 5.2, the burst potential of Sub is only going to be higher.
There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want
Sub for sure, you can force most classes to trinket in a duel.
premed+snd, cheapshot, garroth, ambush evis. then just ambush evis and kidney. Most people who aren't full t2 will get killed if they don't trinket.
Also we seem very weak until you get the daggers.
