There is no class per se that you chose at the start of your adventure. Yuo just play your character the way you feel confortable, the way you enjoy it and you end up strengtening the characteristic you use the most.
For example, if you play melee, you will gain skill in armor, be it light or heavy depending what you are wearing. If you using mainly bow, you will specialize in archery, if you use a specific school of magic, you will gain skill in that school.
Somehow, someway, you end up creating your own play style and your own class, defined by its skills and perks. The ideal way to progress a character in RPG IMO. I wish MMO would somewhat inspires from this. I know TESO will have class, but i also know that regardless of the class, you will be able to have the gameplay you want. A healer rogue, a heavy armor mage, a range warrior, you name it, so i will keep an eye on that one.
