I really like Depp but the problem is that in most of his movies (if not all) the character he act as, are mostly kind of crazy or are quite stupid.

I love Depp, I really do, but in every movie he's just Depp and I'm not sure if having a Depp in WoW movie would be the right thing.

That said, considering what the director did with Moon, if anyone could make an interesting movie with only three characters, it's this guy.

No, no Depp please. When did he last play a serious role with a serious character? Always the crazy, quirky, witty characters. And if that's what the Warcraft movie is gonna have then it feels like it won't be a good movie.

It's not like I see Jack Sparrow when I watch Alice in Wonderland or Edward Scissorhands..

That said, I don;t see him playing any of the current important WoW NPCs. Medhiv might work. I also don't see Blizzard going for the big names in acting somehow, no real reason just a thought.

Anyway, since we have no script or plot it's guessing all the way home.

Was looking at this World of Warcraft movie hypothetical casting list and I really like the choices they made for Jaina Proudmoore and the Chris Hemsworth version of Arthas. I could definitely see those working. Johnny Depp would make a fine Kael'Thas, although there's probably many other roles he could bring credence to as well.

Sad that Michael Clarke Duncan passed; his imposing presence, demeanor, and booming voice would have worked well for a Saurfang-type orc.

I would cream my pants if half of those actors made it.

Whatever role he's being eyed for, it's the lead one. And it is a good choice. Depp is one of the best actors out there. His work is not all zany Tim Burton romps (and I'd be a little hard pressed to describe what he did in Sweeny Todd as zany anyway). He could easily pull off just about any of the playable races in voicework, though if it's live action, gnomes are probably out.

So far they seem to be making decent choices. I like the director too. Many more pieces need to come together before I start thinking the movie can meet the expectations it's built up, though.
