Best Gaming Machine Build (Input needed)

So, I'm kind of putting together a list of components for an insanely good gaming PC. I was wondering if you had any input. (Basically I'm trying to build a premium PC.)

    MOBO: ASUS sabertooth x79
    Memory: (model#) cmz32gx3m4x1866c10
CPU: Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition i7-3970X
Hard Drives: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F240GBGS-BK
    GPU: Asus GTX690-4GD5
    Monitor: BenQ XL2420T

Some things to consider. I'm think 4 SSD, and running them in a raid 5. Dual GPU's running Quad SLI. I've already got a very good case from about 5 years ago by Coolmaster. I'm thinking I already have an 800 or 1000 watt power supply with modular cables. Considering this box would be running in SLI, I'm thinking that built-in mobo sound might be better, as space on the board would be pretty tight, and it might obstruct air flow.

Any modifications? I'll provide links later to the store local's. Right now I'm pricing the above components at around $5000.

Get some good cooling. If you go for air, i strongly suggest the Phanteks PH-TC14PE, it's the best. Overclock as much as possible. Change the mobo to Rampage, sabertooth is worse. For hard-drives, i'd go with Samsung 840. For power supply i'd probably go with the Corsair AX1200i.

I hope you are planning to get at least 3 monitors with that setup.
    Intel i5-3570K @ 4.7GHz | MSI Z77 Mpower | Noctua NH-D14 | Corsair Vengeance LP White 1.35V 8GB 1600MHz
    Gigabyte GTX 670 OC Windforce 3X @ 1372/7604MHz | Corsair Force GT 120GB | Silverstone Fortress FT02 | Corsair VX450

From my understanding, there really isn't a point to going with an i7 chip because hyperthreading really won't do anything for gaming. So you'd be better off saving some cash and going for the i5-3570k.

therefore, something like this would be pretty amazing

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($99.99 @ Newegg)
    Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme6 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($151.99 @ Amazon)
    Memory: Patriot Viper 3 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($84.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($157.99 @ Adorama)
Storage: OCZ Vertex 4 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($212.95 @ Mac Connection)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 2GB Video Card ($484.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 800D ATX Full Tower Case ($244.96 @ Amazon)
    Optical Drive: Asus BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (OEM) (64-bit) ($89.98 @ Outlet PC)
    Total: $1777.81
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

If he is going with dual GTX 690 he needs the extra PCI-E lanes that comes with x79 platform.

So are you going to be running on high res monitors because if not it would be like buying a drag car as your daily driver I.E. can go fast but is restricted by speed limits. A 1000 computer can do the same as that computer can on a 1080p monitor but what that 5k computer does is look amazing on high res where as a 1k computer would fold like a cheap suit.

You're investing in the future, where games will most certainly utilize and benefit from Hyperthreading.

There is really no point in getting a $1000 CPU to invest for the future. You would be better of to spend $500 now and spend $500 again later on.

May as well get a pair of 7990s if money is no object, will handle your likely uber resolution much better than the 690. Or just wait a bit and run 3 or 4 of the upcoming titan.
    i7-4770k - GTX 780 Ti - 16GB DDR3 Ripjaws - (2) HyperX 120s / Vertex 3 120
    ASRock Extreme3 - Sennheiser Momentums - Xonar DG - EVGA Supernova 650G - Corsair H80i

    build pics

This is sort of my dream build. Something where I come up w/components and modify or purchase when sales occur. I've always wanted a computer that could practically ignite a new star. When the time comes to buy a CPU I may go w/the highest non 'Extreme edition' i7.

If you want to take a SSD and you have a lot of money to spend, you could go for a pci-express based one (muuuch more faster than reg one)

Learned that existed two days ago =P
    http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-rev...press-ssd.html

Compared to my budget build, you'll have a biiiiig rig for 5000 bucks =P
    My first build:
Storage: Kingston SSD Now V200+ 120G and WD Caviar Blue HDD 500 G
    Processing Units: i5-3570k @ 3.8 Ghz cooled by 212 Evo and MSI Twin Frozr 3, R7850 @ 900, 1200
Mobo, Ram, PSU Gigabyte Z77-D3H and G.Skill ripjaw 2x 4G with XFX 550w
If I am unreadable, its not because I hate grammar, its because Im french-canadian

All that stuff is nice but it's still a 1080p monitor you will want 3 of them to take advantage of this build.

Yes, it only has one SSD, but it is 512GB. If you wanted something more secure, you could get 2x 1TB HDDs and use them in a raid array.

There are other things that you could change.

Also, wait a bit for the Titan to be released... It might save you a couple $$ off the price of the 690s, for little drop in performance. (if rumors hold true)
