Guess it depends on what you need. The loot drop rate in 5.0 raids will be increasing with patch 5.2, so hanging on to some Elder Charms might still be useful if your character hasn't reached 480 ilevel (which is the minimum required for 5.2 LFR). It seems like Valor is best spent now on item upgrades, as it will be converted into Justice come 5.2.

Upgrade the T14 stuff you got so it'll hold you over into 5.2, then use charms after the patch drops either on T15 gear (if already over 480) or T14 drops (if under 480).

The old elder charms become drops in 5.2. The new Mogu Runes of Fate are the only thing you can get from lesser charms.

Depends. If you want more chance to get mount, make sure you'll have 10 charms to pop at say Elegon or Sha of Fear.

If you’ve already made plans and sank your Valor, don’t fret! As of this announcement, and even if you have 0 Valor currently, you still have enough time to cap out at 3000 Valor before patch 5.2 goes live. (It’s math!)

This means this week is 1k, next week is 2k, and the week after is 3k and then 5.2. Which means it'll be first week of march.
