For the GPU, it's a great GPU.

However, my experiences with ASUS are less than stellar. If you're able to get your hands on an EVGA 670 you're much better off.
Their CS is excellent, support likewise, and they're quite well tuned straight out of the box, no need to tinker.

(Example of ASUS support: I had an issue with my motherboard, and was going to RMA. My supplier didn't want to take it, so it had to be directly to ASUS. Only way you can reach a CS for computer hardware outside of US is through emails. Which they use 2-3 days to respond to. Each time. Took 3 weeks to sort the issue and have a new motherboard sent back. Not saying you will have the same experience, but keep it in mind if the price is the same.)

For PSU just get this http://www.inet.se/produkt/6901049/x...650w-80-bronze, apart from thas there's really nothing to change on your build, its spot on for what you want, maybe get a better cooler and overclock the hell out of the cpu since 4.2 is a bit low, maybe get the h100i, or the swiftech h220 and go for something like 4.5-4.7ghz.

I want a stable and low maintenance build with decent temperatures and long lifespan (ideally 3+ years).

    Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LX
    HDD: 1TB WD Caviar Blue
SSD: Samsung SSD Pro 840-Series 256GB
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K 3,4Ghz (Ivy Bridge)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
    RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4096MB) CL9 1600Mhz VENGEANCE LP
Video Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 670 2048MB DirectCUII
PSU: Fractal Design Newton R3, 600W 80+ Platinum, Modular
    Case: Fractal Design Define R4
Optical Drive: DVD±RW Samsung 24X DL

    Appreciate any feedback!
That thing will definitely last more than 3 years.

Looks like a really solid machine there man, for $1400 I say thats actually really good.

Watts are proportional, dBa is logarithmic. It's a very simple concept to understand.

Change GPU to 7970 gigabyte for better performance for the same price.
Change board to Asrock Pro-3 or MSI Z77A-G45.
The Fractal Design Define R4 is one of the worst cooling cases on the market... HAF 922 is 20 $ less and provides MUCH MUCH MUCH better cooling performance. The reason for why the cooling sucks on the R4 is the sound is quieter for the cost of performance.
    Also 150 $ PSU? :S

    Get this then http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...D=3938566&SID=

One of the best on the market right now.

+10 dB is a factor of 10 in power, but only a factor of 2 in perceived loudness. In this case, we're interested in perceived loudness, not power. Very simple concept to understand.

What do you guys think of this motherboard? ASRock Z77 Pro4
And this PSU? be quiet! Pure Power L8 630W 80+ Bronze Modular

I read some reviews for both of them and they both seem to be pretty solid choices.

Once again, thanks for all the help!

    That motherboard is good.
As for the PSU, avoid that. Get the XFX550.

It's probaly too much if your just planning to run a single 7970. The 650XFX should cover 7970SLI if your into that in the future.

I plan to buy a GTX 670 and I am not interested in sli/cf at all but I do like the modular PSU's and it was the cheapest one from the XFX Pro Series.

The 7970 is around 15-20 % better than the 670 mate, for exactly the same price.

A factor of 2 is still exponential compared to Watts which is proportional. I was being very rude in my original post though which was completely unfair and unwarranted and I apologise for that though.

But what when it comes to WoW? Does 7970 keep the leading?

Yes it does, 7970 is one of the best cards for the money and it keeps the lead on most of the games you will play vs gtx 670

Unless you need the extra PCI-E slot, the extra SATA III slots or on-board DVI, I would suggest going for the Pro3. Saves you ten bucks, which might not be much, but if you end up not using the Pro4 features anyway...

Only thing is AMD drivers tend to suck if your going amd just beware of their drivers supposedly they're doing fine now but still never know when its going to go to shit again. Also in my other threads people said that the 7970 can pass the 670/680 if you over clock it well but do you know how to do that?
