So, this company I work for now, they have in their server room this massive 6U rackmount APC UPS, with an additional 3U battery pack sitting on top of it, laying on the floor not rack mounted at all. It's not hooked up to anything.

I was gonna try to hook the servers up to it, but quickly discovered that it's a 240V output unit. There is no downstep transformer. I asked, and apparently the previous tenants of the building left it there a few years ago.

What the hell does one use a 240V UPS for!

Don't the PSUs have an internal switch for that like consumer grade PSUs have?

Some do, problem is the UPS uses actual 240V sockets, with a rotating lock, it's like some kind of mutant electric oven socket.

After looking at the E3 conferences by sony and microsoft, you have to feel really sorry for micro...NOPE NOT REALLY

I like how all SONY had to do with the PS4 is 'not be microsoft', and that's all they did. Even flatout mocking them about the used games policy.
Honestly, i don't think they deserved that big of an applause for 'introducing' a concept that's always been there, and only of late has been in peril, but it was pretty awesome to see people sighing of relief. Still, i'd say you're still better off with a PC these days. Specially with all the digital retailers (except Origin).

You mean, "let's have them make a developer's dream console and then abandon it before it's on sale"? No, won't happen. The devs will keep praising the Xbone.
There's only one way to let MicroSoft know we do not approve. Don't buy it. That's the only power you have as a consumer. But it's a mighty big one.

never bothered with any console after the PS2.
still main concern is more the terrible porting that happens. (however they claim to improve this for the new generation)
i still think they are gonna get too much flak from the online once every 24h and likely causing some kind of barrier to prevent the reselling of games in its current state.

Any console outside Nintendo isn't worth having! The only thing ever interesting about the PlayStation-franchises were Final Fantasy, and they only released one good game for the PlayStation-era, and Kingdom Hearts - which I never got to play.
Xbox? Comfortable controllers.
