So easy to lose faith in your fellow man. From a service guy perspecitive

Topped up a customer a couple weeks ago because their refrigerant was low on their central air. I didn't charge nothing at the time because the owners weren't home just the kids.

I show up yesterday to get paid my 150 bucks. Only the son was home so I phoned the mom and she says "what are you doing on my property?" I'm a little fed up at this point because I see another company in there with a brand new furnace and a/c in the driveway. After talking to her for 5 more minutes and her repeating herself "What are you doing at my door?"

I just said thats enough and told her to "GO FUCK YOURSELF" how dare does someone take that sort of attitude with me after I went out of my way to top up her a/c so she could be comfortable and not even ask for money at the time because she wasn't home but her kids.

I really really don't understand people at all. I guess it's just a lesson learned and never to do a person a favour unless they are in front of my face and I get paid on the spot.

    fuck people.

You told her to go fuck herself and wonder why she is cross with you?

I run into the same thing, go out of your way to do a job for people then they write you a bad check or dodge you when it comes time to pay.

after she repeated herself 6 times "why are you at my door?" I"m here to get paid for topping up your a/c. The slap in the face was some other company installing an a/c furnace. I said fuck it..i don't care about the money anymore and told her to fuck herself.

This is why I don't do shit for free unless the person is someone I have known for a long time.
It would be dark inside my head...if not for the fires...

How have you remained in business so long? Bills should be presented ASAP and payment demanded as soon as possible, if they cannot pay then sic a debt collection agency on them, acting childish and swearing at them cost you.

Why didn't you call her from elsewere, and ask her if she could put the money into your bank account? you have a bank account right?

I didn't do it for free. Just the homeowners weren't there and I spoke with them at the time on the phone and they agreed to it. I don't like to see people suffer especially kids and old people. I'm sorry guys i'm just really pissed off.

Being hot in summer is not suffering, Air conditioning is a luxury.

So... You're a service tech (Self employed?) and you had a customer call to ask you to fix something, you went out of your way to do so - and she refused to stump up?

Did you explain who you were clearly? Some people have REALLY bad memories afaik, but if she wasn't - i'd take her to a small claims court for the point.

    -

Or were you a friendly neighbor with some expertise, did her a favor - and cleared the fee she'd have to pay before hand, and she bailed on it?

Next time don't do the work without the customer signature first.

My next door neighbor's car broke down, single mom, 2 kids. She asked if i could look at her car, for her. She sees me messing with my cars all the time. So i took a look, figured out what was wrong. After telling her, the sob story began. " i need this car, i have no money, and i need to get to work, and get the kids to such and such" So it was the alternator, cost $180, and about 2 hours of my time.

Well the next day, there is a new car in the driveway. After some ducking and dodging on her end, i finally got her to stop, and asked when i could get repaid. This was her fucking response. " Well i traded the car in, and got a new one. So 'm not even sure if what you did actually fixed it " Like wtf, it didn't fucking start, and just miraculously started, and drove? I about lost it on the bitch. This is why i never, ever will do anything for someone, unless i get paid first.

So you like to get your shit worked on and not pay?

LOL. First of all. What the hell were you doing in a persons house with no adults? Even if they leave a cheque, get the hell out of the house.

Second of all. Refridgeration, heating and Air conditioning specialists are by far the single most screwed bunch of people out there. By walking away, you basically agreed to never get paid. Oh, and if you ever come across something odd that purposefully looks messed with, thats another service mans way of telling you they won't pay. Welcome to the world of Refirdgeration!

Also, make good notes, because people will try and sue you for damage they caused, call you in to fix it, and try and sue you.

I seriously have my doubts that you are 44, without sounding cruel you sound as naive as a 16 year old school leaver dropped into the working world for the first time.
