Blizz denies Tinker class... or did they?

Blizz: The screenshot with four class specs and a tinker class is fake. We can't confirm/deny every rumor but this one is just a clever fake.
Thanks for clarifying that. Is the Tinker a class that you feel would fit into WoW? I'd love to see it.

They say the screenshot is fake, and yet as usual sidesteps any questions over whether there is a 4th spec planned since they had tri-spec in the works on one PTR test. They also manage to sidestep the question over if a Tinker class is planned or not, merely saying "it depends on the treatment" WOW blizz... what a non-answer.

Maybe some of them should get into politics.

I would think that if they were to talk about a 4th spec for classes, they'd do so at Blizzcon. Why would they reveal it on twitter months before their own event?

Maybe is an answer, it obviously isn't the answer you wanted, but most questions about future additions to the game that are not yet revealved get the same treatment...rumors are rumors until it's official.

Being on the fence about the "whimsy" of the class is sort of the same thing as being on the fence about whether or not the idea is one worth taking seriously in the first place, which in and of itself is a pretty bad sign for people carrying a torch for the thing.

Just wait for Blizzard France to leak something. They always leak something. Their leaks are pretty legit too. At Least that have been in the past with Starcraft, Diablo 3, and Mists of Pandaria.

They can't do anything halfway decent with engineering BECAUSE it can't interfere with class mechanics. Making Tinkers a class takes away that constraint from the general concept (though it wouldn't change anything about the Engineering profession).


As for the topic, they didn't confirm or deny anything. All they said was that the picture that's been going around for a while (and only that specific picture) was a fake. Never assume a 'yes' or a 'no' unless it's explicitly given. Especially when it comes to PR (and even then) 'Not sure' is not an explicitly given 'no'.

If anything, this could just be a way to throw us off, and Tinkers could very well be the next class. Or they could never appear in the game. Who knows? I'll tell you who doesn't know. Us. Any of us.

Maybe so. It was one of the most positive such "refusals" they've done...more akin to "we usually deal with Pandaren in books and comics" than "what design spac is left for a DH?".

As it is...the screenshot is fake. Tha was obvious from the moment is was released.
