My 6950 randomly overheats. Well, "overheats". During gaming it never goes over 80C, but sometimes it just goes into overdrive mode. Screen turns off and fan spins at 100%. This can be happen 1 minute after booting, when I've been AFK for hours, or during gaming. The only way to boot my PC after that is by removing the card from the PCI-e slot and putting it back in. Just rebooting the PC doesn't work :/

It is Dark Souls, and it looks like a mod to your character since I don't recall any armor that looks like that.

Pretty much. I'm needing to upgrade my 7970 since I've been encountering artifacting and my card is out of RMA territory now.

If the rumored price is to be believed, it's going to be way off budget for me. I could probably grab a couple 280X's and Xfire them for better performance in that case. I also seriously doubt I'll be buying a reference card, so we'll see how things go with the 780ti since aftermarket coolers are being delayed on the 290X.

I do say off budget because I'm also probably going to get a 144MHz monitor and SSD.

I'd be lucky if my ratio were that high on torrents, but now I have fibre optic, I can end up seeding two or three times what I download (specially if i leave a bunch of downloads on while i sleep or am at work )

If I download an album, it can download in like 10-15 seconds, if I set it off and go for a piss, it would take me about 40-60 seconds to upload the equivalent of the entire album.

If the rumored price is to be believed, it's going to be way off budget for me. I could probably grab a couple 280X's and Xfire them for better performance in that case. I also seriously doubt I'll be buying a reference card, so we'll see how things go with the 780ti since aftermarket coolers are being delayed on the 290X.

If your 7970 wouldn't be dying, I'd say getting another one or a 280x would be the best option. For the price of crossfire 280X you do have a 290X though, which you can then crossfire later.

And rumored prices aren't real prices, wouldn't be the first time the real price is lower. Maybe the release of the 780Ti will lower the prices of the 290X a little bit and then when the custom coolers come for the 290X, the price of a 780Ti will be lowered.

I don't disagree, but it's the information we have at the moment.

I do plan on going Xfire eventually (probably with next year's tax return) unless the 780ti demolishes the 290X. I didn't see a mention in the 780ti thread, but are they still using the SLI bridge, or did nvidia decide to go the route of AMD and have the PCI-E port do all the work?

Doubt it, still the same card, just a little better. Don't think we'll see cards from Nvidia without SLI bridges before the 800 series.

That's unfortunate. I've been hearing really good Xfire scaling with the r9 series since the removal of the xfire bridge.
